May. 6, 2020 yeah same as you guys, Indian woman with a hard accent calling to claim she was from Equifax and inquiring about my loan. I hung up and googled the number and it brought me here. To whoever reads this the number is BOGUS do not entertain it.

Legitimate company that is working with your mortgage lender who, at least in my case, needed to verify via a conference call with a creditor that my loan with them had in fact been paid off in full.

Right. Sure. Then explain why you felt the need to look up a known phone number. I'm betting it was to shill for this caller.

The voice mail from Equifax Mortgage Solutions asked me to call back to do a conference call to confirm some information with my current mortgage, except I had never heard of these sh*theads.

Verified from my lender that is an actual service that the underwriter uses to verify account information.

Called in heavy accent which I could not understand saying they needed information about our second mortgage.

not a scam. It is equifax verifying loan information and payment information with one of my lenders. I am refinancing my mortgage.

This was a totally legit number for me. I was going through a refinance on my mortgage and my mortgage broker needed my credit information from Equifax. One of my creditors wouldn't give them information without me on the phone. I called my broker to make sure it was legit. It was and she gave me a reference number. I called Equifax back, conferenced in with my creditor and everything was fine. They compile an up to date credit report for my mortgage broker and send it over. Easy peasy.

Be very careful. I got this same call while trying to close on a mortgage. Luckily my loan officer provided an Equifax conference number differing from the 888 899 1126 number. The representative with Equifax confirmed the 888 899 1126 number to be a fraud caller and was going to report it to his company. Always check with your lender on those phone numbers. I was given reference number 62111126, see the red flag?

I also wanted to add that the actual Equifax rep I talked to said "We never reach out to people, you call us on a specific number with specific information given to you buy your loan officer"

Let me start by saying I am NOT recommending that you answer or call this number. I got similar calls from 888-899-1126 claiming to be Equifax Mortgage Solutions, requesting a 3-way call to discuss my mortgage, and was so suspicious that I blocked the number and reported it to the FTC.
However, there is a legitimate Equifax Mortgage department (I CANNOT say whether this is the same group). Check with your bank. My bank provided me with a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT phone number and case number than was given to me by 888-899-1126, but they did actually need me to call Equifax and provide consent for a 3-way call. I almost missed my closing date because I had started blocking all calls from anyone claiming to be Equifax. On the legitimate call (where I called the number my bank gave me), I only had to sit on the line while the other 2 people discussed my mortgage details. I did not have to provide or confirm any personal information.

I got a call and voicemail from a woman with heavy Indian accent as well. I didn't call because I thought it was a scam after looking it up but then got an email from my lender that I am refinancing my house with. I searched the email that she gave him (ecdp@equifax.com) and got the website https://www.emortgage.equifax.com/eMortgage/Login.do? I called the number on the actual website 800-333-0037 because I couldn't find any thing online about 888-899-1126.

I gave them the confirmation number from the email my lender received and to my surprise, they did pull it up. Put my on hold while they were calling my financial institution. I actually work at that financial institution. So I asked for the employee's name when we were on the conference call, looked her up in our directory, and she was an employee. I gave her my savings account number and verified my address and birth date. Other than my savings account number, I gave nothing one couldn't find over the internet. You can't auto-draft/debit from my savings. So I was fine giving this information.

The whole thing was about my Home Equity Line of Credit. The financial institution had put a special watch or block on it but had not closed it out. It was still technically open. Equifax Mortgage Solutions was just checking to make sure that the account was closed and could not be accessed for an advance. That is all they wanted to know.

I don't think Equifax Mortgage Solutions is affiliated with the credit reporting Equifax which comes the confusion and worry that this might be a scam. They really should change the company name plus give out the number on the website or add the 888-899-1126 number to the website. This would help legitimize the reason for the call and I don't think they need to ask for your SSN at all. The voicemail should have just left the confirmation number.

Just to see, I called 888-899-1126 back and it was also Equifax Mortgage Solutions but with a slightly different automated response.

Careful.  I am also going through a refinance and got a similar phone message that went to voicemail.    The voicemail mentioned the actual name of my old mortgage company and the name of my new mortgage company and also mentioned "Equifax" and they were said to be working with the new mortgage company.   But... my new mortgage company just confirmed they don't need anything else from me and are NOT working with them.
Also, be aware that anything you share over email is as private as a postcard  No doubt these guys sniffed our email to get the fact that we were refinancing...and they just need to "verify"/obtain our SS# to complete the scam.

This number is NOT legit. I am going through a refinance and I was working when they called. Their voicemail said they were with Equifax Mortgage and wanted to do a conference call with me and my bank about my current Mortgage and former home equity loan company. I got in touch with my real refi lender and he said Equifax does NOT have a mortgage branch and it sounded like a scam. So I looked up the number and found this site. DO NOT call them back. I have blocked them.

Just got a voicemail from a woman with a very heavy Indian accent. I could hardly understand what she said but I made out enough that they needed to verify mortgage information. Now I'm going through a refinance so I thought this might be legit, BUT my mortgage company is super good about giving me a heads up and I have an actual online list of "to dos" and we did this already, we actually did have to do a three way mortgage verification but I knew that was coming...not this one. This one is random and out of the blue. I'm scheduled to close tomorrow. if they need something the mortgage company will contact me directly this late in the game. Unreal!

Heavy indian accent.  Just happened to call and ask for a conference call to the underwriters that i am working with on a refi.    Timing was good but it just didn't seem right.  Verified with the new lender and they needed nothing.  This is a scam call.

Same - same. If my bank needed anything, they would ask me, as they have multiple times during this process. I can't believe these calls have been going on since 2016 and no one has stopped them.
