We got the same kind of call, heavily accented Indian man named “Renee” wanted to do a 3-way call with our current mortgage company.

We contacted our bank and they said “your Mortgage Loan Processor did submit a request to Equifax for a credit supplement. It is customary for Equifax to contact you for authorization and then add the creditor to the call to request account update.”

But I still don’t trust it, it seems very suspicious!! We will contact Equifax directly and ask because there are too many who were told it’s a scam by their banks…

Doesn't matter whether the call is real or not.  It is best policy to never give out sensitive information to someone from that country since they will either steal it themselves for future use or will sell it for a couple of rupees to other criminals.  Always demand that you speak to an American.

Lol What? My Mortgage Lender emailed me to get in touch with them after I missed the call and had listened to the voice-mail.

I just received a message from "Equifax mortgage solutions" the guy had a very strong Indian accent so I couldn't catch the name. I checked on the number and found all of these comments about the number. I didn't think it was legit I was going to call my agent but figured to same some time and check the number on here first.

Currently working with Veterans United Home Loans. They issue me a "To-do list" in my dashboard. One of the items is an Equifax Conference Call.

    Details from my to-do list:
Equifax needs to obtain Glen's verbal authorization in order to update credit information regarding your WFHM. Please call Equifax at 888-899-1126 with company code XXXX and select the option to speak with a representative for a credit supplement or conference call. When you speak to a representative, use the reference number: XXXXXX.  While you're on the line, Equifax will confirm the information they need. Please confirm when you have completed the conference call. Contact your loan team with questions or concerns.

I received a missed call from 888-899-1126 and a gentlemen with a HEAVY Indian accent left a voicemail. The callback number and reference number he left were completely different. 855-676-9075 reference number XXX-XXXX. I will not call this number.

A lady with an Indian accent wanted to ask for case information regarding a client of mine.  She did have the client name and social security number however she could not provide me with an address or phone number to speak to the client.  She could not provide very basic information to me.  Due to confidentiality, I would not provide information to her anyway without the client's consent.  This is a fraud call and I will warn others.
