I got a call from these people. It just does not seem real. First someone called me by the name of Mrs. Moore then when i call back for her no one seems to know who she is. So I spoke to Mrs Millian and she advised that this so called company deposited some money in my checking acct. I know for a fact that i did not do this. She insisted that i or someone else did. After further investigation from my bank no deposit was ever made to my acct from that company. So now i am waiting on her to call back so that i can pass their info on to my Attorney. Also i will be notifying the BBB. Please beware of these people. They are not right.

A Mrs. Millan called me and said she was with an attorney's office and this was a courstey call to let me know that some charges where being filed against me in my county. one charge of writitng bad checks accross state lines and one charge of wire fraud. Basically i had one oppurtunity to settle debt
with cash advance company or she was going to send out order for warrant to local sheriffs office so that i will be served as midnight . I asked her if i could consult my attorney and she said no ,that once
i got off the phone it was an automatic refusal to pay and that the suit was already filed and the warrant would go out!!

    Hard Times
To the previous post.....Most people intend on paying their bills and their debt, however sometimes bad things happen.  You lose your job, unexpected medical bills, etc....Count yourself blessed that you obviously have never had hard financial times.

I just sent them a cease & desist letter and I filed a claim against them with the FTC.  They most definitely break many federal laws and they have gone so far as to call my friend's MOTHER as well as my ex  and they told them I was being investigated for fraud and they were looking for me because I was going to court and possibly going to jail.  Can you say,,,,,"Illegal?"  Owing the money is bad enough and we get the consequences through our credit reports, but these types of threats are abusive and WRONG.

@ previous "holy than thou" poster:
Clearly you have no idea what the Fair Debt Collection act is and are so naive as to read these posts as people complaining about having to pay off a debt.  Clearly that is not the case, most of these posts are people who are willing to pay but this collection company comes off suspiciously criminal at best.

The complaints here are about how this company conducts business and how they violate, quite blatantly, the Fair Debt Collection act multiple times a day.

I was contacted this morning at 7AM in regards to a stranger's debts.  I did not answer my phone as I refuse to pick up my cell to answer "blocked" numbers.  I received a voice mail detailing this stranger's personal financial and legal problem.  That alone is illegal on so many levels I have half a mind to file a lawsuit on this other person's behalf.  Later today I was, again, called by their automated 1-800 number and informed that if I did not call back I would be hearing from their attorneys.

Twice, in one day I was contacted about a total stranger's debt, that does not sound like a good business practice to get in.  I called them to get the phone calls to cease, while they were polite enough to stop calling me the manner in which they answer their phones was incredibly unprofessional.  They did not give their name, their business name, nor any other credentials that made me believe they were a legitimate business.

I highly discourage anyone from giving these jokers any money, even if the debt is legit.  Contact the source of the debt directly and pay them, don't give these people the satisfaction of making money off their abusive tactics.

the company is soooo unprofessional! the man i spoke with is a Jim Leanoard Jackoson, everytime i asked a question he would say "mmnnhmmn, correct". there were phone ringing super loud in the background and he kept putting me on hold. they called about an outstanding debt that i had already paid to another collection agency, they tried to charge me double the initial debt which is illegal. they try to get you to pay the full amount during that phone call and they threaten fraud charges to be brought on you.

i called today to make sure my information was deleted and i wouldnt be charged and the lady i spoke to said "ok let me patch you to where you need to be" then tried to mumble "i don't have time this" under her breath. make sure i'm off the phone before you say something to get you flashed on. anyway i think this company is complete bs, what collection agency doesn't use automated phone calls, send letters or emails? a bogus one!

    Seemed like a scam
I received a call from PRIVATE CALLER

"This is  (???? mumbled quickly) a private investigator on an Assault Charge and  (My Name) was listed as the emergency contact for (_____ insert name I'd never heard of even spelled____) ....please call immediately regarding whereabouts or something  at 888-900-1677x1071.

I have no known unpaid debts that I am aware of.  The call is made to seem like emergency of an important, legal, medical type matter.  The tactic is to confuse you to call and probably switch focus into one of the other previous postings above about debts.

Suggestion, get a copy of your credit report. See if there is anything in collections. Medical bills, due to poor billing practices, are commonly sent to collections.  Not the person's fault in many cases.  I look at credit reports every day and this is common.

    Ignorant and duped
I made the big mistake of getting out of bed and answering the phone; I usually have it shut off.  I won't answer unknown caller and today I made the mistake of doing so.  I'm half asleep and they are talking about a payday loan that wasn't repaid, that they are going to be arresting me for fraud and for writing hot checks, that I am going to jail.  Millian stated that she was a layer for the company etc etc etc.  Usually I don't break for this stuff but I haven't had much sleep.

Before anyone decides to flame, I know I owe the debt.  I have no problems paying the debt, it would have been paid back if they would have waited a few days to run the bank account because the money didn't show up on time.  They went for it anyways, multiple times and I got shafted with 370 dollars in OD fees from the bank.

Back to the story, it was a 100 dollar loan, then with the abcense of payment it went to 165 dollars.  Now just a few months later, this freaking company is telling me that its 1200 dollars but they are going to settle for 460.  So convincing in their story, I wouldn't be sitting here  pissed of now if they would have stuck with it.  I'm not paying back at a rate of 12 X what the debt is.  This is extortion and it's outrageous.  If I were to imitate an official agency (police, fire, etc) it would be a deffinate jail sentence.  What makes these people any different.   I don't know the fair debt collectoin act or any of that other crap.  Can someone lead me to where I can find out what my rights are and what to do?

Hadme Scared replies to hepl me out here
Boy'o'Boy I'm glad I looked on here and have found familiar tactics by this company.  A Jim from CDR finally reached me through my work number.  Mind you I've seen nothing by mail.  Immediately informed me that a warrant is going out in my county for Bank Fraud for a online payday loan.  Asked about my bank account (they had the correct last numbers and correct SSN).  Informed them all bank accounts have been closed and in process of bankruptcy.  They said that won't help and that I had only that day to prove that I want to resolve this or they will show I refuse.  They wanted $1500 in interest on a $500 loan but would be willing to resolve for $1000 if I paid 1/2 immediately to stop a 25% garnishment of my wages.  Told them I can't pay that much and that I'd love to make arrangements.  They told me to not pay my car payment and not pay my rent to do this......YEAH right.  Told them I was calling my attorney, he gave me til 5pm and hung up.  Course the first guy is alot nicer (Jim) - says he's going to fax over papers to release me puts me on hold and then this mean nasty guy that says he's an attorney gets on and NABS YA!....   PayDay loans are no longer legal in this state thank god, so let them and I'll hash it out in court if I have to.  They'll be nicer than this piece of garbage.

This company keeps calling our main line and leaving very threatening messages via a recording... When I call back they tell me they don't have our number in the system... but they keep calling and the messages are just getting more and more agressive!

I don't even believe this is a legitimate business... they don't answer the phone professionally and today when i called back and gave them another number, she yelled at me and hung up the phone!!  WTF!!!

    don't bother me
if you can record them so you can use it as evidence. This is CDR & associates. when you call to get their contact information they will pretend you are threatening them so they don't have to give your their fax nimber or mailing address.
CDR plays more games than debtors trying to avoid them. Perhaps we should turn their tactics back at them. They make you angry but at the same time, there is a certain element of immaturity in the way they run their business and you just want to laugh in their faces. They all seem a little crazy to me.
