Also received a call today from this number.... and have many times in the past.  Each time I insist they add my number to the "do not call list"  to no avail.  so I finally called my phone provider and had the number blocked. I think it is the only way to get them to stop calling.  Threats just don't work!

Received a call from this number today.  Male individual with a very heavy accent identified himself as being from the IT Department.  Stated that my computer was sending traffic to his computer and wanted to advise me on steps to discontinue the transmittals.  I asked him which computer and he said, after hesitating a while, "your computer at your residence".  Being an IT professional myself, I challenged him with some questions.  He stated later that he was with Microsoft and that the traffic likely was the result of malware on my computer.  He started to tell me about how he could provide
at no charge steps to correct.  I told him that I wasn't interested and hung up the phone.  This evening,
I opened a case with the Federal Trade Commission.  The representative stated that he is getting many calls and complaints regarding this phone number.

Same number as above,  Had a little fun with the man on the other end. Made him repeat himself and then told him that I did not have a computer. He then told me that he would call back tomorrow. I then asked if I was going to have a computer then? I got bored and hung up.

Just rec'd a call.  My sis handed me the phone.  This person said our IP address is spreading a virus and that we should please turn on the computer.  I think he might have been Nigerian.  I asked him what company he was with and he said Login something (really couldn't understand) and that they were the co that worked with Microsoft.

I told them that there isn't way to peg an IP address to a phone number and what was his name & company name again.  He was agitated and asked why I was asking him when I had a serious problem.  Well, the computer was already on and we hung up.

I just recieved a call from a man with a heavy Indian accent at this number. First they asked for someone else, I told them they had the wrong number. Immediately was suspicious when they didn't hang up, they asked my name. I asked if they weren't calling for me, why did they need to know? At this point I played along to see what they were trying to get me to do. They claimed to be a company "monitoring extremely contaigious computer viruses on windows and California has been infected" - I don't know how they got my number or knew that I had a computer with Windows - they wanted to know how long it took to get my comp started  when they asked me to go to the computer and they would "walk me through the steps to see if I'd been infected" I told them unless they were calling from Microsoft - which they then claimed be doing - that I wasn't doing anything they asked and hung up.

I just received a similar call.  Caller ID had the number and Nova Scotia PEI (Prince Edward Island).  I didn't catch the name of the company (they might not have even said it) but they were quite sure that my computer had a virus.  It was a woman with a thick accent.  I let her talk for awhile, not believing a word of it (I work in IT).  Finally, I had to tell her that I didn't own a computer.  You could tell she was not ready for that answer.  She sounded confused, not really knowing what to say.  I said I was one of the few who don't have a computer, thanked her (for the laughs) and hung up when she asked me my name.  What a scam!

Received a call from a heavily accented man last night around 8:00. He said i need to turn my computer off. Who starts a conversation that way? I knew right away that this guy was messing with me so I said a few choice words. Funny he said if I kept talking that way he could not help me and would have to hang up. I said a few more and ended the call.

Got a call from a heavily accented man claiming to be from a computer company - could not tell the company name as it was garbled. He said that my computer was damaging their servers, and needed repaired "over the phone".

The call showed as coming from 902-567-8434, but that is a dead number.  When asked, he gave his direct number as  877-623-9180, though I did not try that one.

He gave his name as "John Williams", which is unlikely given how his lack of English.  I could hear other employees in the background also with heavy accents.  I suspect they are calling in from India and through a Canada phone system.

They called my house and asked for my husband's grandmother(who has passed away). He said he was sorry to hear that. He then told me that his company had received calls from my neighbors saying that my computer was sending viruses to their computers. I handed the phone to my husband, who he told the exact same thing to. My husband said "That's jacked up!" The man said "I know, I know, thats why I'm calling." My husband then said "You know what else is jacked up?" and hung up the phone LOL. This guy calls back immediately repeating the same thing. My husband says "Your lying and you know how I know your lying? We don't even have a computer!" The guy starts stuttering and says " Oh I'm sorry I must have dialed the wrong number!" Maybe these fools won't call back but I wouldn't doubt they're dumb enough to. These people are annoying and wasting my time. We have a sick grandfather to take care of and don't have time to be bothered with such stupidity.

Received a call June 9 from a man stating he was from Global Tech and he was no longer receiving information from my computer.  He said I needed to contact Login4speed and he'd help me 'reinstate' the service.  He asked me if I was at my computer because he wanted me to follow his instructions.  I asked for them to be given to me so I could write them down and follow them later.  He insisted I go to my computer but I told him I was a long way from it at the time.  He kept on insisting so I hung up on him and did not receive another call.  He had an accent but was not too difficult to understand.

Called around 5:30 pm PDT; did not identify himself or the organization he represents.  The number at which I received the call belongs to my 94-year-old grandfather, which, together with some of the other reports in this thread, causes me to suspect that the callers may be targeting senior adults on the assumption that they are less computer-savvy than younger people.  Caller had an accent that I take to be south Asian and ended every sentence with an interrogative "OK?"  He told me that there was a computer infestation affecting my area and he needed to check my computer.  When asked, insisted he was not trying to sell anything.  Refused to answer my questions when I asked him to explain how a computer infestation could be geographically localized or why his organization had any interest in the welfare of my family's computers; just repeated his script.  Ignored me when I told him to put us on their do not call list and never contact this number again, repeating the instruction to turn on my computer and follow his directions.  I repeated my insistence that they never contact us again and ended the call.
