- baseballmom1I just got a call from someone who could barely speak english and claimed there was a problem with my computer. I asked how he got my number and he refused to answer, so I told them not to ever call me again and hung up. I hope sites like these can get the word out to people who may actually believe these idiots not to give out any personal information or especially credit card info.

- annoyedVery similar call today in Las Vegas. Called once yesterday, but didn't leave a message. Answered today and got the same thick accented man with garbled English. Told me to go to my computer, etc. I told him that I have a secure Mac and to take me off of their lists. He asked if I had another computer in the house that wasn't Mac. Nope :::click::: Also reported them immediately on the Do Not Call Registry!
- Call type: Telemarketer
- DDJust received the same call. Told me there were many computer viruses in my area. I told them we weren't buying anything and I was hanging up. The person , with a very thick Indian accent continued to try to talk. I said I am trying to be polite and am hanging up now. End of call! We are on the Do Not Call List too!

- Rev. MannyToday 6-20-11 I received a call from Adam, a man that sounded like he had a Hindu accent, telling me that he was from Tech Support (no company name); that my computer was sending error messages, and that he was going to help me. I told him that I did not own a computer. He apologize and hang up..
Not very smart man in my opinion...- Caller: 9025678434
- JamieSame here - a man telling me my computer was at risk for a virus in our area. I replied, "No thank you, we have anti-virus software." He went to say he could fix my computer. I replied, "No thank you, my computer is under warranty. Please take us off your list." I hung up and then added the number to our block list.

- AnonymReceived this also 6/21/2011. Same deal about a computer virus and earlier today an Indian woman called trying to sell me "controlled and uncrolled drugs" over the phone. I told her to not call me back anymore and blocked the number. I feel bad for all the senior people who are getting ripped off by these maggots!
- Caller: ?
- SpazleakingSame deal -- when that number calls my cell phone, I never pick up, and the caller never leaves a vmail. Been called twice: 6/15/11 at 6:56pm pdt and again on 6/23/11 at 8:30pm pdt. What a pathetic life to lead....

- Patti replies to WoodenQuackersI rec'd a call from same number last night! Unfortunately I believed him, (sounded like from India!), as I had rec'd an "anti-malw zip message on my Mac the night before so thought it had something to do with that!! Of course Mac's don't get viruses but being 72 yrs old and tired I linked the two! He asked me to put a code into my PC which I did then said he would run my programs and clean all up. I got suspicious then and turned both of my computers off for the night. Have not turned the PC back on and called my CC's and band to alert them.
Found out from Apple that the "anti-malw zip was legitimate and needs to be taken off my Mac so will call someone to do today but now don't know what else to do re: my PC which I only use for emails as it's a 10" laptop that I use for travel. Should I just throw it away? Getting a Mac laptop to replace! - Georgei just got the same call...but it was a woman with very very heavy indian accent...when i asked for
her name she said Kathy Smith(sure).....very persistant even thou i told her i was sick and couldn't
get to my computer right now(a little white lie)...i was curious as to what they were selling so i did play
with her for awhile....- Caller: Log in 4 speed(think that's what she said)
- georgeone more thing...i asked her for a number to call her back on....was given 877-623-9180
just googled that number and it says it's from Russia!! - CBI just got my second call from this number. He said his name was Charles Anderson. He had a very distinctive African accent. He said he was from Global Tech. He said when I bought a computer, I was registered in an international computer registry. He said they (Global Tech) go to computer shops and the shops tell them who bought a computer from the shop. He also spoke about my IP address, but not so intelligently. When I asked him how he got my phone number, he referred to the "international registry".

- CatI saw this number on my caller ID when I got home last night. A real tech support person from my local Internet provider had already sent out a warning last month after he had received one of these calls. These scammers get names and phone numbers from online phone directories and once they hook an unsuspecting computer owner they will sell your info to other scammers. The local TV news stations have run the story and warned people to not give out any information. Do not even answer the phone. We cannot stop them but we do not have to be victims. Our laws do not apply to criminals operating in India. Too bad taxpayer money still goes to these countries in the form of economic aid!
- Oregon BusinessWe got a call to our medical clinic today from 902-567-8434. Same BS. The person on the other end of the call had a very thick accent and uregently wanted our receptionist to turn on the computer and check for viruses.
We immediately hung up on them. - Angela VallesMan with a heavy Indian accent who kept saying "ma'am" and getting increasing impatient with me when I insisted I didn't need his assistance with an "infection" on my computer. He repeated my street address and asked if I had WindowsXP? (which I do, but I told him I didn't know.) I have been having a problem with my computer blocking malware everyday, so I thought he may have hacked into my computer. I messed with him for a while then hu on him.
- Caller: I don't think he said
- David StovallSome guy with a hard to understand accent called and said much the same as noted above. When I hung up on him he called back and asked to receive permission to remotely access my computer! I told him no and again hung up. I googled the phone number and came across this site.

- anonymous replies to amrst| 4 repliesTHIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.
