I received an urgent voicemail on my cellphone today from H & P Capital. the message was referring to a friend and former employee of mine but at no time did the caller give her name or mention my name. She said that she needed to get a statement from me regarding a filing against this friend of mine and that I should call back by noon today or further action would be taken. She also stated that she wanted to let me know what would be happening this evening. She gave the call back number of 866-612-1284 x 293 and said "Best of luck to you" at the end of the message. After googling this phone number and the business name it sounds like a scam to me. I'm not calling back.

I received a call from a Nicole Grant and to call her at ext 366.  When I called to find out what it was all about they told me that I owe $439 to HSBC Bank and it was because of Web payday.  They said If I dont pay half of that amount that some was coming to my home in brooklyn.  by 9am tomorrow.  I told them that I do not have $219 dollars right now and that I will be able to pay $219 on 1/23/09.  Right now I am in a shelter and I can not afford to pay the full amount.  She put me on hold so many times and said if I dont pay the full amount by then then I will suffer the consequences.  Then she put me on hold and again and transferred me to another person.  He was rude and nasty and said if I don't ask around for someone to give me have of the amount then I will deal with them the hard way.  I was upset and told the man that I am unable to pay that amount in full.  I asked to him to give me his address so I can send something in on 1/23.  He said that do to the anthrax scare in 2001 that they do not accept mail there.  He said either I send the money by money gram or through a debit card.  I called my lawyer and told him the situation.  He told me it is a Federal Law that any collection agency collecting a debt must provide an address. My lawyer told me not to send anything to them and don't give out any information to them.  Until they send me something in writing I will not answer their call.

I have had this same call at my work - I asked who is the original debt was with as I did not recall owing and they stated that they did not have that information.  What?????
I told them that I needed something in writing and got the same spiel - already sent this to me.  The guy kept talking over me and I finally said that I was disconnecting the call and hung up.  
I guess we will see what happens next.

First of all, how are u emailing from a shelter? Second, how do u have a lawyer but no home? U are the one who seems to be a scam.

Hey, I got an idea.......Why don't you people stop ripping companies off out of their money....And you won't have to deal with these people....You borrow $$$$ say you will pay it back and then all you do is run and hide for months....When they catch up to you....You want to get mad at them for asking for the money back...Grow up and start being responsible members of society!!!!!!

Interestingly, they incorporated in October of 2008. My suspicion
is that they open a business, do their thing, get in trouble, shut it down, and start over again with a new company. They are definitely bending, if not breaking, the law when it comes to collections practices.

I got a call from this number today. I never took out a payday loan. The only loans I have out are student loans that don't need to be paid yet, why would they call me?

The person saying they "were served" is full of it. They haven't even been in business 2 months. They have never sued 1 debtor for anything. The person "leslie" works at the company. If you ever hear someone saying things like this on these websites you know they work for H&P Capital.

Got a call just now from Jim Cane.  I asked for the address of the company so I could verify it's validity and he would not give it to me.  I informed him I was revording the call.  He hung up on me.  This is the 3rd call like this I have received this week - threatening me, to come to my home and workplace and saying I am going to jail.

what if there is a small cap userly law say any loan under 6000

I received a call from these same people. I was threatened with the police coming to arrest me, a work, if I didn't come up with the money by 600 pm. I asked them to fax me the letter supposedly filed. When received, I called the other place and found out that they never filed with that company. I am reporting them to my Attorney General's office for further action.

I received the same threatening phone call from a person Jason Power.
It came into my workplace and upset so much that I could hardly do my job. I work at a hospital and my boss was also upset and worried about my situation.

The same Jason also called me. What a jerk!
