Got a phone message regarding an urgent legal matter regarding my Grandaughter. Called back and left a message to return call. Place called itself Law Offices but he said it was law office of Paul Kuperstein and Associates and his name was Sargent on the message. Thinking this is totally off the wall, and wondering how they got my name in the first place.

Geez I wish I would have known all this before I dealt with this so called law firm but I did receive a call from a Mr. Richard Hazel from this law firm some time ago and he did tell me that I owed money to cash store and that I would have to pay back 2,700 and yes he did say that he was going to take me to court but if I was to make a payment plan on that day I wouldn't be getting charged for fraud - make the long story short I did owe money to cash store but it was a low amount but he stated it included interest - I, however, paid it back as I felt really bad and yes was scared as I have never been in trouble and didn't want to be charged - anyway, now that I have read all the bad reviews I will be doing something about this - I really believe in karma "what goes around comes around" and I believe this so called law firm and their so called lawyers will have their day in court when they are being charged for fraud and other criminal charges.

If the situation is as bad as it is, then a lawsuit wouldn't help the creditor that much if the judgment is unenforceable because of lack of assets on your part.   First thing you should do,  is demand a written statement of the debt sent to you by US mail.  If they are going to file suit then you have to be served IN PERSON with court papers.  Generally small amounts are handled in small claims courts where you can represent yourself.  Seems to me the creditor in your case is simply trying to scare you.  

You are not going to be charged with harassment.    The debt may be valid but the means they are using to collect is not, in my opinion.  

Seems like they are just trying to scare you.  Unless you are served with court papers IN PERSON, I wouldn't worry about it.

Only a public prosecutor can charge you with fraud.  Debt collection companies can not.  If this is a valid debt, the creditors must provide you with a written statement of the debt mailed to you by US mail.  If they do not provide that then  don't  pay them anything.  

They are trying to scare you by implying that you have committed some sort of crime.   Defaulting on a a civil debt is not a crime.  You have not committed any crime.   If you had committed a crime the police would interview you.

Don't let these guys scare you.

They call you again, tell them to either send you a written statement by US mail, or tell them to go to hell.  That's what I'd do.

Actually, as a matter of fact we do have a form we send to your payroll dept to begin garnishments. we can have your bank account frozen due to too many bounced payments. Take some personal responsibility for your actions! grow up and pay your debt geez! its understood that situations arise.. thats life. Make the necessary arrangements/ commitments and actually STICK TO THEM.

This bozo has called my phone 3 times the first two for me to get ahold of them and today was because they were suing me for cash store money. I proceeded to tell him that he is not a legal lawyer and what he is doing is fraud. I then told him I was going to the upper bar of canada and report him. I then td him to stop calling my cell or I will have him charged with harassment. So in saying stand up people tell thus loser to take a hike I did

received a call from ms babwa saying that I owe the cash store $2000. She said that i had to pay the money right away otherwise the police would show up at my work and she would freeze my money. I told her that I didn't have the money. She started to yell at me and said that i would be sued and arrested for fraud. I started to ignore her calls but now she is calling my family telling them that the police is also going to show up at their house.
This doesnt sound possible or legitimate. I will be contacting paul kupferstein and the law society of upper canada to file a complaint about this woman.

file a complaint with your provincial consumer protection agency, both against the fake law firm and cash store. Make in your complaint that you were contacted by a unlicensed collection agency that is threating you with being arrested and legal action when they don't have the authority to do so. Also mentioned the fact that your family is being contact without your consent. In addition file a complaint against the cash store for sharing your personal information with these losers.

I got the same call from the same women. Can u tell me what happens please

I talked to her too. She said my bf owed for a cash store loan and they are suing him and pushing for jail. She scared the [***] out of me. She told me info she was not supposed to. Now she called again today and asked for name of a lawyer to forward documents too as well as where to forward documents to everyone he had as a reference. Im going to confront her tomorrow about being a collection agency so will keep everyone posted.
