Hey... My mother called me and told me that a MR. CAGNA called for me.... I have no idea what its about but I took all the information you's have posted about these people and I will demand for validation on every claim... if this is the correct number and law office as you's are speaking about.. its the exact same number.. I'm calling in the morning and I will put a trace on it when i hang up.. to cover my butt... They are messing with the wrrong person if it's the same.... I don't take [***]... hehehe

i CALLED them back.. and they said they were doing an investigation on my friend.. and i was her contact person???  what is that about? is it true or is part of the scam?  When I called, he asked the number they called me at... I basically said...'Should you not already have that on file' he said what is the number.. and i told him they should have it... and that my brother took the call.. he rudly said...'what alligation does your brother have.. and give me the number' i gave it to him.. then he asked the number i was calling from.. i gave it.. and he said he would call me back in 5 mins.... then called me.. and said thee above about my friend... and he hung up on me... im not telling my friend... because im sure its a scam.. they're number isn't listed no address no nothing... and he was rude.... what is that about???   contact me at tinker_toy69@hotmail.com     if you h ave anything to say and inform me.... thank you

It's all part of the scam.  When lowlife debt collectors find their access to one person blocked, they usually attempt to contact friends/neighbors/relatives and use them as a messenger service to relay their threats.  Just tell the collectors that you're not a messenger service and that they're a bunch of lazy frauds who have a lot of gall expecting people who owe them nothing to do them favors.  Tell them as colorfully as possible and then ignore them until the end of time.

I received a call from Paul Kupferstein back on November 1st 2007.  They told me a debt from The Cash Store was forwarded to them as they are the "collection company" that The Cash Store uses.  He stated that my oustanding balance had accumulated interest and was received in their office in the amount of 641.87, and that I had until the following day at noon to send the money or papers were being filed against me in court.  The first call I received from them was at 3pm, and Mr.Hazel stated he would be working late that evening until 8pm.  My caller ID shows "Law Office" for the number 905-474-3535.  Upon a reverse lookup and google search of the law office he was representing, I found tons of "scam" posts and threads.  Worried that I was the victim of a scam, I called The Cash Store and asked them for the contact information for their collection company. They did provide "Liabilites Solution, INC" in Markham Ontario. The address' suite # had changed, but the street address and phone number were still the same.  They told me that since "head office" had sent it out to collections, I was unable to come in and pay it myself, and that I had to send the money order to them.
Figuring that this was legit, I borrowed the large sum from my mother, and sent a money order the following day.  I called Mr.Hazel and told him the tracking number and serial numbers on the money order.  He stated that I would receive paperworks clearing me with their company and that my debt was paid and no further legal action would be persued.  As of today, 14 December 2007, after 3 calls, I still have yet to receive this paperwork.  I still have the MO receipts for the tracking numbers, and the Canada Post reciepts showing I required a signature to receive the MO.  He told me today "I do not work in the mail department. I can't guarantee that you'll get it. They are saying they mailed your papers to you on the 5th of November, I don't know why you haven't gotten it. They said they would send you out another copy, call me in 10 business days if you don't get them again".... they went over my address about 12 times during first call, and they have it on the MO envelope that I sent them.

They called yesterday, a Ms.Gunther stating that yet another legal action has been filed against me, but upon calling, she is continually unavailable to speak with to find out who she's claiming I owe.  

Still waiting in queue with Phone Busters to check these people out, as I am not sending any more money to them.  According to the FDCPA, I am going to request a validation letter before I do anything else to see if they'll send me one.  

I wasn't aware the first time that I could request this, but after so many  detailed posts, I am going to get as much info from them as possible.

Either way, if this is a scam, atleast I have proof of payment to retrieve the money I have already sent them...

record the calls (which is legal in Canada, so long as one party to the conversation is aware it is being recorded,) so as long as you know you're recording, you're good.  

They are seem to be misrepresenting, to extort payment--which is indeed very illegal in Canada and can lead to the loss of licence for both the collection of debts, and the responsibility and privilege of represeting either side of the legal system.  So if they are indeed breaking the law here is how you can stop it....please spead the word

How do i really know if its a scam or not?? i was called yesterday and was told that if i dont act promptly there will be legal action taken...What should i do?

Hey Cynic if your still here are you positive about this cause they just left a message for me saying that they are about to take this to court..Now even if they do i have doctor's notes that go back a year now saying that i cant work and that i havent been back since feb last year should i just goto court and show them this info? and im sure that The Cash Store hasn't told them that i have this info.

ED i'm currently dealing with them for the same place - but i called a debt consolidation company called InCharge Debt Solutions, he claimed that he was taking me to court for the amt and as well was going to charge me with fraud as unfortunatly they recieved 2 accounts of mine with 2 companies. I reccomend you get in contact with a consolidation company asap?

I called the same place you did InCharge Debt Solutions and they are now handling the my case..what could of been a much faster way for The Cash Store if they had of just been pleasant with me on the phone is now going to have to wait 3 years to be re payed..sucks to be them i guess ;)

Wow I am so glad that I had a friend that as able to find this website.  I too received a phone call from a Mr Hazel quoting a file number and that a claim had been filed with their office and that it was imperative that I contacted them as it was concerning a legal matter.  I was so stressed not knowing what the hell it was about.  Thanks to all of you who have also posted on here, I will be going onto the above site and filing a complaint with them.  I am so glad that I found this before Monday when I was going to call again....

wow what is this all about went crazy this morning when "mr. sargeant called about a debt thought it was legit im on a fixed icome so they are steeling food from my kids mouth and who Knows how many others too bad he didnt come in person thats all.. u no what i mean please catch theses co__s____ers sorry but im pissed. so if your reading this DO NOT MAKE A PAYMENT.

I called a company call InDebt Solutions they are a non-profit organization and they took care of all of the problems that Law Office was giving me..please be very careful because if you did sign anything with them in the fine print there is legal things in there that permit them to take you to court...The good news is the monies that i did owe is going to take the bas***ds over 3 years to get back at a low monthly fee of 18.00 dollers..
I suggest you give them a call and check it out... at this point what do ya have to lose?

they called my husbes work a bunch of our friends the man who wespoke to was named mr.hazel he clamed that if my husben did not send them a amout of money that he would have to go to court in Markham ON. today for 1:00 today well i am canadian and i live in ON. and there is no court house in Markham,ON. theses pete are a colection agencey and do have the leagal right to say these thing to us to try to get there money....what has this world come to...th worse part wa that his is over a chash store payday loan that has been payed i even have the reseats....they are [***]!!!

Mr David called me at home letting me know he would be taking legal action if I did not pay a 310 loan I had taken out. Last month they had been taking out small amounts any time they wished out of my account so I had put a stop payment. With this Mr David had called again, and again....., I had told him I DID NOT authorize these payment and to stop calling me. Yesterday he called my work telling me that I would be charge with fraud, garnish my waged, and that he will contact my employer to let them know of the charges in this matter and my family members, friends and serve then to court. A charge of $3000.00 will also be charge against me plus the amount owing! I looked up the phone number and came across this site. WOW!!! I contacted 310 to let them know what was going on and the man on the phone said he is aware of his law firm that represents them and added "BUT have you read of any charges laid against us"?? Ok, so I called the police department (FAUD UNIT) and let them know what was happening, gave them the address I was to send my money and THIS SITE. Keep your fingers crossed and let's all stand united on this issue. Has anyone been taken to court, charged with fraud?? I offered a write payment plan that Mr. David said he WOULD NOT except. I was to pay in full or else I would be charged. Let us all know. If I knew then what I know now, I would never have done this. It's hard and stressful enough not making ends meet, but then to be called at work, talked down to and treated as if I'm a looser, no that I won't take from them. I myself believe they are nothing more than glorified loan sharks that instead of braking your legs brake your spirit!! I plan on staying with my offer of 3 payments ever 2 weeks, but I will only send the amount to 310 no other party!!!!
