Seems like they are on a roll.  Lots of calls in January so far.  Received two from Dani today claiming to be an electrician in the warehouse and needing to speak to the boss right away. When questioned gave vague answers and on the second call tried to bluff her way through.  We have digital phones and the calling number shows, so I will just not answer that call again!

A young "friendly" girl named Jennifer calls wanting shop mgr. I asked what it is about. She said oh my boss needs him back on the line. I knew it was bogus because it's from Ca.  It's not even 8am CT. She said she's calling from Midway but won't tell me exactly what it's about, just her boss has a few questions.  She gave me a "cell number" 585-355-5449 ask for Jennifer.  Then her boss should be in vicinity to take the call. So sad...

Fax a blank page to the number they are calling from. The phone will keep ringing and when they pick up they will get that annoying fax noise!

Called asked for maintenance guy.  Said that there was a part number that he needed to order.  Was very nonchalant and acted like he was my best friend from a long time ago.  When I revealed that we lease the building, he asked to speak to the Property Managers.  I would not give him that information and told him that he needed to try again.  Got upset when I said I am tired of "you people" calling here.  

I have received 2 calls from this guy.  Can't remember his name.  He has asked for the owner both times.  Said he was with Midway.  I asked him what type of company and he said "Maintenance" the first time and "Lighting" the second time.  Both times I told him I was the Office Manager and could help him.  He hung up both times.  I called the number I got off of caller id the second time and got a message in which I told them to take us off their list.  Good luck!  I have better things to do than answer calls from idiots!

One of the guys I work with got caught in a scam by "Midway Industries" and we finally were able to send everything back last week. Today I got a call from "Randy" wanting to speak with the Maintenance Manager, but couldn't remember his name. I forwarded him straight to VM and he called right back saying he needed to speak with the manager right away for a part number. I refused to give him anything but VM so he said he would call back. He did call back this afternoon and I called him out on being a scam. He acted like he had no idea what I was talking about so I eventually hung up on him. Hopefully he doesn't call back.

Same guy called me too. When I told him I doubt we called and weren't interested I hung up. He called back screaming at me saying I was rude. What a looser.

Had a pretty elaborate story about how he was at our warehouse and couldn't find our light sizing list. We don't even have a warehouse! Pretty sneaky. Now calls every single day asking for our maintenance man...which we have no one in that position. Very rude. I asked him if he was trying to sell us something and he got mad and hung up. Maybe that will be the end of his calls!

Received a call from this number, similar story to most above - said her name was Amy, asked to speak with maintenance, said her boss spoke with the but had lost the number.  Said she was calling from Midway.  When I asked for more information, they hung up.

"Steve" from "Commercial" called for my shop manager. I was wary of the name (what company is known only as "Commercial"? No legit one!!) so I put him on hold for a minute and he was gone.  

Hey everyone!  After reading all of your comments, I feel as though we need to take a trip to Cali and teach this arrogant jerk a lesson in real Southern Hospitality.  I can't understand why someone running a business- even if not a legitimate business- would let this tool make sales calls (or in his case, bogus sales calls).  Doesn't sound like anyone with a lick of intelligence will order from him.  Anyway, someone must have given this guy my name as well and he's called several times in the last 2-3 weeks.  Today, I recognized his voice almost immediately and before he could get into his spill, I asked if he was the jerk that called before trying to BS me into buying something from him a week or two ago.  He never skipped a beat and responded, "I am the guy that WILL BS you into buying something from me."  I soooooo enjoyed beating him to the punch this time by telling him where he could go (a rather uncomfortably warm place) and then I, ever so politely, hung up on him.  I hope I didn't damage my company phone in the process of slamming it down.  Called from 909-670-2291

HAAA, nice try. I answer every call that comes in... no one talked to anyone last week. Try a litttttttttlle harder next time, or come up with a better catch phrase to reel in the money.

Say's he is with Midway Electric he did ask for our MPO by name.

A guy named Steve from National Electric called our company, asking for our electrician by name.  When he got thru to our electrician, he was very nasty and said some vulgar things which I won't repeat, none of them having anything to do with maintenance or electrical....  Sick.   909-670-2291

He called again today. Same spill as before. Then after lunch he has a girl in the office call and does the same thing. I don't know how this gets stopped but someone needs to stop them. This is ridiculous. we pay for our business phone he does not. I've reported them to the DO NOT CALL and that doesn't do any good. He is arrogant, argumentative and a pain!

Give the caller the phone number of your state Attorney General when they ask for a cell number.

Oh yay!!  Now I'm getting calls from this number.  I didn't answer it and let it roll to voicemail, and no voicemail was left.  If I see this number again, I'll answer it and give him hell and tell that I know his tricks because you can read about him on the internet.  I won't tell him I googled his number because I don't want him to change his number and then start all over.  But, I'm going to call him out on his bull.....t!!!  Since I'm the decision maker with my company, I'm the person he would have to speak to in the first place.  I love the idea above to give them the number to the State Attorney General or I'll give him the number to our local detention center.

Midway Industries or midwaylightbulbs  is  lighting company that makes a living off of scams. They send bulbs to business that hasn’t ordered bulbs, wrong bulbs to those that have, or accidently triples orders for some, you name it they do it. They  cast their net of lies every day and hope to find one person that the can send an order too. Once they do they scam them until authorities get involved. Once they send you a package they just keep coming. They operate on the basis of "there is a sucker born every minute". Don’t give them your address and don’t agree to even a catalog. If you do you could end up with a $500 bill for it. I got this info off of “rip of report .com.”
 By the way when they called me for the third time I recognized their MO. I played along until the fella asked where to send the catalog. I told him to shove it up his A#@. Not professional I know…but it was satisfying!

They use the name midway electric too. Bad news their is that there actually is a respectable company called midway electric out of CA. However acording to their report on rip off report, they do not call out of the state of CA.

I received a call today from this guy claiming to be from Commercial Electric.  He insisted he spoke with the maintenance guy last week and had "forgotten his name".  I am familiar with this ruse and said I had forgotten it too.  He acted very incredulous and said it wasn't a laughing matter.  I put him on hold and checked with our maintenance man who said he was a scammer selling light bulbs.  I  spoke to the scammer again and said we didn't want to buy any light bulbs and I told him he was a solicitor.  He insisted he wasn't and I asked why do you have a California number then and he said it was his cell phone.  I called him on his [***] and he eventually hung up.  He was very persistent and made me doubt myself a few times but I'm glad I never gave him the name of our manager.   He will tell whatever lies necessary to get to speak to the person in charge and make you doubt yourself.  Major League Jerk.

They get someone's name at your company and harass you.
I finally got him back & asked if he sold Unicorns & Rainbows, It threw him off!
Maybe he won't call back here.
