11/18/19 "Kevin" called and said is with the California Franchise Tax Board.  Wanted me to state my name, company name, address and EIN and that it would be recorded. I wouldn't do it and he got a bit frustrated. I asked why he was calling and he said we had talked before and wanted to get my company closed out. WHAT?? I'm not closing. I refused to give him info so he could record it. He said he would send a letter and it would arrive in "several weeks".  Guess it's not that important. I tried to call the number back, get a 403 Verizion error that the number is not reachable. SCAM don't give them anything over the phone. If I was in trouble with the FTB, trust me they would be mailing letters like crazy.

Received a call on 01/14/20.  Did not leave a message.

Guy called and left VM states he’ll call back in 20mins.  Ask for George with no last name!  916-845-1385. Fake!!!

I received a call today and he left a message. Guy with a very thick accent I could not understand, but I am a tax pro and he named my client who wants to give me power of attorney. If this is fake, how would he know my name and my client's name? I think this could be legit. I haven't cal

I guess it is scam. He called me also and said he is from Franchise Tax Board, asked me to give my personal information. I refused and told him The FTB communicated via mail only and I cannot provide any information via phone. He turned off.

Scammer, they can fake their phone, make you thing that their call is legit. FTB and IRS don’t call you. If they call you they already knew your information and they don’t ask your information.

Same here kevin only a lady name "lida" said she has an overpayment from tax year 16' wanted me to varifie who i was and my address so they can mail me a check, but wanted me to fax it i have no fax. Tried to call cant get threw. Sounded legitimate

Also did a reverse look up and it showed ftb as the owner of no.???

Female caller with a convincing presentation claimed to be from the Franchise Tax Board.   She knew my name and called my cell.   Said she was calling regarding my “offer to compromise.”  She asked for last 4 digits of my ssn.   Did not provide as I do not owe back taxes and if I did I would have paid it - not seek compromise.   She hung up.

Received a call from person claiming to be from CA Franchise Tax Board. Left a message with my company name and EIN stating I was in collections for failure to file and back taxes. This company has been listed as inactive since 2016. Seemed odd the FTB hadn’t sent me a letter in four years if this is true. Didn’t call back.

I doubt that the tax board is working on a Sunday making calls to collect back taxes.

Got a call from Kerry at the 'CA Franchise Tax Board'  She said our LLC was a 'Foreign Enity' and we need to call 888-635-0494 to clear it up.  It didn't make sense.  I called back the number they called from, but it didn't ring.  It sounded real, but I'm pretty sure this is a scam.  I think the 888 number is dangerous.

Got msg from “FTB” said she is here to help regarding an urgent tax matter. Repeated several times. Fishy did not call.
