- LarryespoThe caller called twice asking for a different person than me. He left a message saying he was from the California Franchise Tax Board. I never returned the calls.
- BCI recieved calls twice from this number, forget the lady's name but it was the same person from last week. Told them to contact me by mail. started off with let me verify your identity with you social security number....this is about your 2019 tax returns.... then she said I can give you another number to call..... told her to send me mail by USPS --because I don't owe any money for 2019 taxes
- Caller: State Franchise tax Board
- Jen replies to BurlivSame, I got a message from an Ashley stating we spoke yesterday, we so did not. Wants to close my account. Same thing when I called back, call can’t be completed. Sounds scammy to me
- Bryan replies to lilyWhere do you see -1385 listed as one of their numbers?
I think it *might* be legit however the voice asked if I had sent correspondence (I had sent) but would not confirm what tax year or anything without detailed ID from me which I would not give without being able to confirm -1385 as one of their numbers. The 916-845- prefix is valid but not sure about the rest. Voice gave 800-852-5711 as number to call back, which is valid. So I thanked for the call and will call back FTB using that number as found at ftb.ca.gov .. 1240.html as reported by another above. Also I came across FTB warning from April 2019 indicating scammers pick up speed in tax season. Just because the voice gave me the real 800 number does not mean the voice is from an actual FTB agent. Despite Kimberly and Lily reported this as the number, and an "agent" from this number giving the correct 800 number to call, this is not sufficient proof for me that this 845-1385 is one of their numbers. I want to see it on an FTB page listing it, or the valid range of numbers if they have a whole block 13xx for example. Otherwise I remain a skeptic.
Regards
Bryan - PamCalled our office, lady had a very thick accent and asked for someone who does not work here. She asked for the name again and then decided she was not going to get the person she asked for and politely ended the call. She never identified herself.

- AdamI spoke with FTB on Thursday 24 June 2021 for an hour. Very helpful. We did everything over the phone, nothing else to be done. Started receiving phone calls Friday morning (at least four). When I called back, my carrier stated I can't make this type of call. Odd. I think scam.

- Rick B.This is a legit call from the FTB...I had my suspicions...Jeff actually explained what was going on with the letters I had been getting from them...and told me how to resolve my situation...I had been confused, and was about to call a tax resolution company...turns out, I don't have to!
- Caller: Jeff from the FTB

- RobertReceived call from CA FTB where they had my letter in hand where I’m awaiting a tax refund that was withheld. She had my specific figures that only a tax person would know. They asked that I verify my SSN of which they confirmed and proceeded to give me direction on contacting the IRS at a specific number. I immediately did and the number was a quasi IRS leading to no one. Called her back on the number to no avail. I’m naturally worried and immediately set up fraud alerts but remain puzzled as she has specific tax data that was contained only in a letter that I had mailed to the IRS. NET NET BEWARE.

- BrianI got a call today, 2/15/2022. A lady said I haven't filed my Franchise Tax for 2016,2017,2018. Wouldn't I have gotten some letters in the mail from the real Franchise Tax Board if this were true? Ridiculous, big time scam.
- Caller: 916-845-1385
- LizThis popped up as ST OF CA FTB like what is that even? The Franchise board would call from an unlisted number or a 1800 number this is a scam
- KAnswered call with "Helio". Caller asked for an Eric Palowsky (sp?). I told him there's no one by that name at this number and had the ph# 12 to 13 yes. He apologized. I googled the # and it came up as an FTB Scam. I tried calling back 3x and each time the call was dropped and received a "Server Error" message.
- Caller: Didn't give their name.

- TCScam. Main call back number doesn't work. If you call using the so called direct extension, the VM asks you to leave your social security number. Obviously no valid U.S. government agency would make this request and state that due to Covid, they're working remote and can't answer direct calls. Since when did working remotely mean you can't accept direct calls and people need to leave a full social security number on a vm?
