got a miss call from this number, he didn't leave VM

Got a call from Marissa at 916-845-1385.  She identified the call was from California Franchise Tax Board.   Caller left a message that contained information matching my previous correspondences with FTB.  It was a call to action and did not ask for any information from me.  If this was a scam call, I fail to see the purpose.  My vote is that this is a legitimate call from FTB.  There are so many scam calls that we are treating  even the real ones with suspicion.

Labeled as "scam likely" on my phone. Caller identified herself as the FTB representative whom I had just spoken with (I had called with a question about my account); she was calling with follow-up information on my question. She requested my full name, last four of my social, and address. She volunteered information that we had discussed on the prior call that a scammer wouldn't have known, but I was still suspicious. So afterwards I called the FTB main office number and spoke with a representative there, who confirmed it was a legitimate call. After looking at my record, she confirmed what the person from this call had stated. The representative explained that calls from FTB are often labeled as a likely scam due to the way they keep their numbers unlisted.

total scammer, do NOT return this call!  message stated I must call ASAP re: the money I owe for taxes...funny, i do NOT owe a thing.

A guy called, claiming to be with the FTB and left a message that they needed my tax returns from 3 specific years. Seemed odd since I file every year. I tried to call back to see what he was talking about, but the number wouldn't go through as a return call.

Woman with heavy accent called & I had to ask twice where she was from because I couldn't understand her. Never caught her name. Told her she had the wrong number then hung up. It always comes up SCAM LIKELY but decided to answer anyway. Had tried calling that number just to be on safe side but didn't go through.

Calls, hangs up when answering machine turns on. Caller ID shows ST OF CA FTB and tel # (916)-845-1385

This caller called 2 dfifferant phones stated that it was the Franchise State Tax Board. Stated my company was not closed rightfully with the state and she would help. Stated that she wanted to reach either the manager or the owner to get the company rightfully closed. Its Scam call do not talk to them

Definitely a scam.

A Donna, left a message mentioning my old business, and needed a call back by the next day. The return number was different though. 916-845-4394

I think this number is a scam, pretending to be the Franchise Tax Board.  The first question asked is "What is your social security number?" The real FTB's phone number is 800-572-5711.

A guy, Chris called from 916-845-1385 claiming to be from FTB and was regarding my California LLC client. The voice message stated that it was regarding an urgent tax situation for the business and in order to prepare the system for issuing any type of involuntary collection action on the account. He also asked to return call to 916-845-7079. I believe it is a scam.

This is a scam. I called the FTB and they said they never call unless you request one.

I got a call from (916)845-1385 and left a phone message to call (800) 852-5711 (real FTB).  After a long hold, I got through to FTB but got disconnected immediately and, although I gave my phone number, FTB never called back. And 916 number called again as if my phone is monitored.

Received call, requesting direct call back. If FTB wants to discuss anything with me, they can send it to me on official letterhead from a known good address in Sacramento with a clearly stated purpose and information that makes me give credence to the correspondence.

Just received call from 916-845-1385 very heavy accent. Could barely understand him, he said he was from the FTB and wanted my SSN.  I asked again who he was with and he repeated the FTB.  I told him I didn't believe him and he hung up.

A guy named Denis called saying he was with FTB and wanted to talk to our EA of our tax firm. She wasn't available so I asked if I could get a call back number, he said he couldn't take a call back. I asked if he would hold, he wouldn't. I asked if he could call back at a certain time later that day and he said he couldn't. I asked to please share what he could so I can get the message to the EA. He said a client of ours is receiving a letter and we would get a notice in our myFTB account.
Not sure if it was legitimate, but we'll keep an eye on our FTB account.
