This guy named Charlie called from Merchant Services. I asked him if he was MY merchant services company and he said yes. I was very suspicious and asked him to give me my merchant account number and he said he didn't know what it was. He wanted me to verify some information. That information I would had given him would have only been used to set up a new account with this scamming company.

I just received a call from a Luana Lee from "merchant services." She asked me to fax over a merchant statement for review on how much money we could save. She also wanted me to provide all the confidential information regarding the account rather than the other way around. BIG SCAM!!

Got phone calls from 949-861-4016, 949-872-2355, 949-861-4014, and 949-861-4013. 23 of them, in less than 10 minutes. I called 949-861-4000 and selected 0, I told the lady that they needed to stop calling me "NOW!" She said that she would walk over to the call center and let them know to remove my number. Apparently they were able to call three more times before she got to them. Each time I answered, all I heard was a repeating tone.

Received a call today from Juanita at "Universal Merchant Services" claiming she was with the wholesale division of our Merchant Services.  She said they could save us money by switching us over to a wholesale account instead of retail because we are non-profit.  She wanted to send someone in right away to talk to us.  When I declined stating that we were too busy during the month of October, she responded by saying she wanted a faxed copy of our most recent Merchant Services statement to work up a quote.  I asked her that if she was affiliated with our Merchant Services, as she had stated, why she didn't have that information already.  She stammered and said they can't keep every merchants account information.  I told her we would get back to them and I hung up.  I then called our bank and reported them, offering to go ahead with the appointment so that these scam artists could be caught.  The manager at my bank said these people aren't doing anything illegal (initially at least) but they are unscrupulous and are preying on unknowing people.  This company will lock you into a contract and charge you hundreds of dollars.  They are definitely NOT affiliated with our Merchant Services company (which is through the bank) and that it was wonderful that we didn't fall for their baloney.  Unfortunately, for every ten of us who don’t fall for it, one does and that is how they make their money.  He said he was going to call them and have a little fun with them.  I can't wait to hear what happens.  But, from reading the other posts, they'll probably just hang up on him.

I looked them up online. There is actually a company with this statement on their webpage. The INLAND EMPIRE COMMUNITY BUSINESS NETWORK was created to serve as a networking and support organization for its gay, lesbian, and gay-friendly business owners and corporate professional members within the Inland Empire area of Southern California.

You are an idiot. There is nothing private on a processing statement.  They worst anyone could find is how much revenue you've taken in.

Recv'd v/m from Vicky at 949-861-4000, ext. 7060 stating the we needed to call her to discuss our rate increase.  When I called her back she wanted to come in and look at our statement so that she could give accurate rates.  She said we could save lots of money by switching from retail to wholesale.  I asked for the new rates over the phone because I couldn't meet with her, she said the only other option was to fax her our statement for her to look over.  I asked why she didn't already know our current and new rates.  She started stumbling over her words and I asked if she was our current Merchant Service provider and she said no that they were a company who could save us money.  It all seemed fishy so I searched on the web and found this site! Interesting!!!!

    Same deal here
Get numerous calls to business from telemarketer that says that they are with Merchant Services and they support the credit card terminal.  They want me to fax a statement to them so that they can process an urgent update and if I do not fax this info, the credit card terminal will no longer work.  I thought this was fishy... why would they want this info if they are the ones who they claim to support the device? Hung up and called my bank.  They told me NOT to send the info to them.  Google'd the number they gave me (718-249-2000) and it's Merchant Industry LLC.  They have ads everywhere for telemarketing jobs.  It's a dirty telemarketing scam. Don't send them anything!  The same rude person calls almost everyday.

    I HATE NLS!

I received a cold call from someone named "Vickie" who worked for "Merchant Services".  She wanted to know if our credit card processing company had told us about two fee changes last year and when I said no, she said that this was "a problem in the area" and that we had likely overpaid processing fees by 20%.  Vickie then told me that a representative would be in the area on Wednesday who could help me with the problem.  Before "Jeremy Romer" came by, I needed to fax last months credit processing report to her for review.  I smelled a rat and asked who her company represented and she said "First Data" which she claimed contracted for Visa/MC.  I then asked point blank, "Do you represent Lease Finance Group or Northern Leasing Systems" and she said "No, those are leasing companies; we are a processing company."  I wrote the information down and when I googled the phone number, IT WAS A DIVISION OF NORTHERN LEASING SYSTEMS INC!!!!  So in case you don't already know, NLS is bad news and they will obviously lie to your face without hesitating.  Don't do business with them; look them up on the Better Business Bureau web site instead.  They have over 700 registered current complaints and I have no doubt more have simply not been filed.
