My husband and I got one of these automated calls yesterday and one today. Glad he had the sense to look for info on it first before calling the number and possibly being hacked. A reputable office or even collector wouldn’t call from an unknown number and be so hard to get a hold of. Also I liked the previous comment about how they would send you something in the mail too.

They are buying debts that are beyond the statute of limitation's so they're only position is to scare people into paying them. Do not pay these people a dime. Also if you request proof of the debt by writing they have to provide it. Furthermore no reputable collection agency would operate in such a way.

SCAM SCAM SCAM. Attempts to sound legitimate using words and phrases like:
verifying address and employment, you will be served, it is your legal right, will report to “clerk,”
and repeat offender.
According to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, (FDCPA) by law, any legitimate collection agency MUST state what many call the “mini Miranda.”

Instances When the Mini Miranda Must Be Stated
Debt collectors are required to give the FULL mini Miranda in their initial communication with you, no matter what form, (postal letter, phone call, voicemail, etc.)
The first time a third-party debt collector speaks with you on the phone or sends you a letter, the mini Miranda statement *MUST* be included. The disclaimer keeps debt collectors from tricking you into giving up information that can be used against you.

The zombie and phantom collectors don’t state the required disclaimer because they are NOT LEGITIMATE collection agencies, and 99% of the time the alleged debt doesn’t exist or isn’t valid because it is past the statute of limitations.

Say NOTHING to a caller other than request validation of the alleged debt.  By law, they must provide validation by mail within five business days.
NEVER say anything other than request validation by mail.
Offering information, making payment arrangements, sending a partial payment, or acknowledging an old or invalid debt may “restart the clock” on the statute of limitations.

Know your rights under the FDCPA and learn to identify the difference between a legitimate debt collection agency and a scam.

I never pick up the phone if I do not know who is calling.  I come here instead to see what's been posted about an unknown number.  It's so annoying that we all get these constant scam calls.  Block them, hang up on them, but never ever talk to them.  They'll just sell your number to other scammers and you'll get even more calls.    These people are no better than any other low life thief on the streets.  Give them a chance and they'll take your last dollar.

I keep getting these calls and I never pick up.  Instead, I come here to read the comments from other people about this scammer.  I so appreciate 800notes.com, and everyone who posts their comments on these never ending scammers.  I’m elderly and I happily accept all the help I can get.

I just got a call from this number.  I do not pick up if I do not know who is calling.  Instead, I come here, and other posters almost always provide me with the information I need to protect myself.  As a senior citizen, I am so grateful for this service because scammers view us like we’re red meat to a wolf.

As you very well know that site is for reporting sales calls and not debt collection calls.

I run to my voicemail all the time.  I live in the Rocky Mountains where my cell phone doesn’t work.  Without a good, old fashioned landline, I would not be able to make or receive calls.  Unfortunately, I do get a lot of scam calls.  I am very grateful for 800notes.com because I am able to obtain the information I need to protect myself.  As a senior, I’m just a bigger target for these lowlife scammers.

I don't know how you can run to voicemail.  You certainly cannot run along the telephone line or the wireless communication.  However I have noticed one thing here.  You seem to have been spamming the heck out of this thread.  None of the posts, including this current one offers any new information.  Call logging is against the TOS of the site because it is considered spamming.  If you appreciate the site then use it properly.
