I didn't answer the call from this number. The recorded message identified the caller as representing Social Security, saying that they were following up on a letter about prescription drug financial assistance. I didn't receive said letter, so I'm confused about this call.

The web site being quoted is not legitimate  www.ss.gov  The correct web site for SSA is www.ssa.gov.  This can easily be verified.  I have no appts or have not received forms to fill out.  When I did have dealing with SSA it was from a local office.

They also called me, did not answer the phone. I assure you it is NOT the Social Security, I do not have an appointment, nor is there any reason for them to call me. IT IS A SCAM!!!!!

Try calling that number {972-497-1400} all you will ever get is a busy signal, it is a scam.

Social Security has absolutely no reason to call me, I hope you did not give them any information. Try calling the number {972-497-1400}, all I got was a busy signal, my ID on my phone to this number say's {American Voice} NOT Social Security. You probably need to be re-educated, on how to determine how to trace calls.

got a call from this number about SS .. Umm I am not eligible for SS for another 15 years .. and I dont have medicare once again I am not eligible for another 15 yrs .. called SS and they said that they do NOT I repeat DO NOT do this type of thing .. Yes they send out letters NO they do not call and remind you about a letter that they sent you

Harmless robo-call reminding me of my appointment with the SSA the following day. No big deal.

It really is from the Social Security Office the return phone call message is: We SENT the form regarding supplemental prescription assistance. Please call toll free 800-772-1213. This is legitimately from the Social Security Administration service location out of Texas.

Got a call from 972-497-1400 claiming to be from Social Security about a form they sent me for extra help with Prescription Meds .  They left a call back number 1-800-772-1213. I dont know if it's legit

It is NOT a scam! I did have an appointment and they called and this is the number that came across.

I ,too, received a call from this number  and it was from Social Security reminding me of an appointment I have later this week.  It is not a scam.

I recieved a call stating I was to appear before a judge regarding my disablity,I contacted my local office and they said there was no such hearing scheduled. This was a total scam, I recieved the call on memorial day, the federal gov was closed,they would not call you on a federal holiday. If they would contact you it would be in letter form and any office would be able to pull the record of the letter up. There was no record of any letter. I am permanently disabled for 7 years And have been so listed with social security as permently disabled. Do not fall for this do not give your info to this num or anyone else, all you have to do is verify the call is from ss by calling them directly

Caller ID can be faked, you know.
This is sort of like those scammers that started calling a few years ago with their caller ID set to show a real, legitimate number for Bank of America.
My dad's been dealing with Social Security for the past few weeks, and they usually call from this number. (We live in Texas).
The key here is that if you DONT live in Texas and someone calls from this number out of the blue, it's definitely the scammers. And if you DO live in Texas, it MIGHT be the scammers. The easy way to tell is that the real SSA already knows your info, so they won't grill you for it.

I received a call from that same numbr, it is SSA. I called SSA to ask if they knew of it, they did. SSA told me it was from an appointment line....................
