Received a call from this number . Caller ID said US Courts. I did not pick up. No message left. Obvious scam.

I got the same phone call on May 16

973 645-3730 number CID was US Courts. Rang three times and then stopped. Did not answer. No message left.

Called at 10:15 AM.  First, silence; then a click.  A male voice, with possibly African-American accent, said, "Hello, Grandpa.  How are you?"  I replied, "I don't think I'm your grandpa."  He said, "Wait, you're not John?"  That was it; I hung up and blocked.  First time for me with this scam!  What's next, a Nigerian prince?

I picked up and he said hi grandma, I said who is this he said your gs I said I have lots of gs then he said, who is your favorite grandson none b/c I have none     gotcha.

Grandma/Grandpa scam. Older then the hills.

I have had the same calls. I try to answer then hang up. It is annoying, but this happened years ago and when I reported the number I was told it was a phone in the county jail and prisoners will call a number to see if nobody answers. Then they try to make an operator assisted long distance call charging the toll to the unanswered number. They assume you will not answer when the operator calls to verify charging the number for the bill.

The same thing happened to me Scott. I picked up the phone because of expecting a phone call, said "Hello?", there was a couple seconds of silence, a beep and a woman's recorded voice said "Goodbye". Guess I didn't answer it fast enough for them.

Yep.  "US Courts" was displayed on my Caller ID.  Answered call. Pause typical of robo callers then Call Center background noise.  I say "Hello" (Just curious about this scam).  Pause.  "Hello, Grampa!".  Not curious any more, so I hung up.

So you figured out from his voice that he was African American???  Ok!!!

This US COURTS # showed up on caller id at 10:39am. No message! I'm on no call list!! Why does this persist?

I just installed an app on my Galaxy S8 called "Hiya". It says it blocks known spam calls & I could add to the list of blocked numbers as calls come in. 5 minutes after I installed the app I got a call from this number, except I didn't! Hiya told me it blocked a known spam call.  :D

A man called claiming to be my son in law and needing money for bail. He knew a few things that almost made him credible. Just HANG UP!!!
Next time I call the POLICE!!!

How can this guy impersonate someone from the government and get away with it. Every day there are more and more predators out there.

W received several calls over the past year from this # and the one time we answered the call,
the Hispanic caller pretended to be a friend of our grandson and claimed he was in distress
and needed money....We hung up,

Just recieved call. US Courts (cid) Answered but silence, then noise and I hung up. Maybe I didn't sound like a grandmother!

Did not answer call, but out of curiosity I called it back since it said US Courts.  The man who answered said he was the Clerk of Court in Newark NJ and that their # had been scammed.
