Telemarketing Script

Here is a list of questions to ask each telemarketer when they call you. Print these questions, and put them next to the phone. Telemarketers are required by law to answer each of these questions. Write the answers down and as well as the date, time of the call, and anything else that will help you remember the call.

I would suggest that your start letting all calls - other than those you know are OK to your voicemail or answering machine.  Before you record your outgoing message record the Telephone company "out of service" tones.  Most people won't even notice but it may fool the auto-dialing systems that are just trying to find working numbers.  It may even "con" the con artists who have recorded messages inviting you to press a number to connect to a person.  By the way NEVER press that number as they now have a live one (YOU!!)
If you want the OOS tones a link to them can be found on this website. http://wolfram.org/writing/howto/phone.html

Also there is some good advice on the page so read it.  I am not affiliated with this person or site.  I have been doing this for about one month now and I appears the repeat calls from these scammers are gradually diminishing.  It's worth a try!

Auto-dialers which check for working numbers have been banned. Everyone in this world is selling something. Even if you're not directly involved still your firm is engaged in selling a product or service. Even a charity organization has to sell their ideas to raise funds. If you are courting a girl you are selling yourself.

What about an ad you see on T.V in the middle of your favorite program isn't that an interruption do they have any previous established relationship with you? What do you do? you change channels so why not ask them to remove your name from the list and hang up.

I get the same response from some telemarketers: the moment I begin to inform them that they need to remove me from their database and their call lists, they just hang up. Sometimes before I can instruct them to stop calling.

I will say that not all of them are that way, though. I don't get nearly as many telemarketing calls as I used to now that I just tell them to remove my information from their system and quit calling. It DOES help some, but not all telemarketers abide by the law. Wish we could nail them to the wall.

Unfortunately, you're right. You gotta hit 'em where it hurts, and for salespeople, that's right in the WALLET.

I am the receptionist where I work and I have been reciving these phone calls from Delta Shipping (Private)Ltd.

I have  asked them 4 times now to remove us from their list, and each time I am told "I think we have a bad connection" 3 times I have asked for a supervisor and was hung up on.

If I ever have the misfortune of traveling to Pakistan, I will have so much fun seeing how much aggrivation I can cause this company.

    Telemarketing should be illegal

Make a living any way you want to - including prostitution!  But do NOT invade my life or privacy and expect others to tolerate or appreciate your efforts.  If you have chosen such a sorry profession out of the many other options available to you, that's simply your choice and sadly an invasion of others.  Do not expect others to appreciate your efforts or attempts to "work" in such an occupation unless you want to pay all the others you interrupt unless you want to reimburse us for our time and opportunity costs at a phone for which WE pay for service, not as a telemarketer benefit.

    Hello,
This same claim could be by any bank robber.  Not one forced you into this job. You are not all bottom feeders?  -  Prove it!
HE, he, one of the ""friendly marketers""   Yea, sure.

And you always follow the law.  Which is why after I tell you not to call again - you do.

I used to be a collector.  I am no longer a collector.  I will never again be a collector.  I will never be a telemarketer.  There are other ways to make money.  "DO I NEED TO EAT?  DO I NEED A ROOF OVER MY HEAD?  DO I HAVE TO PAY MY BILLS?  YES YES AND YES!"  Yeah right...  And regarding sterotypes...  You may be a friendly telemarketer, however you have chosen your profession.  If you wish to have a clear conscience, why dont you use your skills to help rather than defend someone who is using you to make money for them.  Right or wrong...  Your choice.

Dear posters, Obviously telemarketing does not work as no one wants to take these calls so all the people doing it for a living must be wasting their time and money... NOT! people get great deals over the phone on all sorts of items including discounted Travel deals, home improvement, energy saving plans etc. and people actually take advantage of these offers and benefit from them. Otherwise no one would waste their time calling you. If you do not want to be called here is the deal, put your name on the dnc list. I do not want to call you and waste my valuable time being messed with. I only want to call people who are actually interested in saving money and getting a good deal. If you are too busy to take advantage of these offers please do us both a favor and get on the DNC. I do a legitimate sales job selling legitimate products over the phone. Here is a good idea. Don"t buy if you are not interested. By the way hanging up tells the automatic dialer you have not been contacted.  Pick up the call tell the caller to put you on their DNC. Most dialers are set up to have a button pushed and block your number from future calls. Believe me when I say I have no interest in calling people who only want to verbally abuse me. Thank you to all those who actually become customers and save big money buying the easy way, over the phone.

These folks are a collection agency.  they are what is called "Scaveners" - they buy old debt and try to get folks to pay the original obligation even though the debt has been "tolled" and is uncollectable.  this pertains to: 800 873 1993, based out of India and not in compliance with statute.  Remember, if you pay them a penny, it reinstates the debt - so give them no money, no information, just hang up.

    All the Best,

    Not Scamming ME
I only get calls looking for wrong people they are trying to collect a debt for or calling for someone I do know and then telling me that persons life story. Keep 'em coming! Lawsuit after lawsuit if they don't stop! Not allowed to tell info that is not my account. Tsk Tsk. Telemarketing folks don't call me. I'm on the No Call List and haven't heard from them. Get a few "Will you take our survey,we're researching blah blah blah." I always say if you pay this month's mortgage first and call me back after I have proof I'll take your survey, otherwise I'm not interested and don't call back. Haven't heard from any of them in a long time.
