Telemarketing Script

Here is a list of questions to ask each telemarketer when they call you. Print these questions, and put them next to the phone. Telemarketers are required by law to answer each of these questions. Write the answers down and as well as the date, time of the call, and anything else that will help you remember the call.

Well, with the Internet, and other "viral" forms of Marketing available, Telemarketing should be less effective.

And regarding that one-in-6-billion+ opinion, I'll just say this:

Yes, there are "good" telemarketers, but telemarketers have a reputation for a reason.

My issue is that these #s are usually ported to the US from somewhere in India and there is really no way to get any info out of the people.  I have one that keeps calling from different states representing that they are from the Yellow Pages and also local Google representatives, and of course they just hang up on me when I ask to be put on the Do Not Call list.  Worse, I live in Md, where it is illegal to surreptitiously tape someone without his/her knowledge.  Remember Linda Tripp? Well, in theory, I could prosecute like she was, even though that would really be the only way to prove that the specific conversation and its content ('don't call me anymore...') took place.  Any thoughts?

Sorry, I meant prosecuted like she was for taping a phone call without caller's knowledge.

Aj you are wrong and obviously if your company knew you thought this way you would not have a job. And remember that you can be personally held responsible for your conduct and he sued. You need to educate yourself on the law for debt Collection Title 15 United States Code/ Fair Debt Collection Practices. And the lawsuit can be filed in the United States District Court for the state and division you reside in and therefore enforcing a judgement against you will be easier.

Here's another tactic (if you can find an actual, legitimate callback number for the telemarketer..if not, call the number of the company they're working for):  Most old dial-up modems have the capability to be programmed to call a number every 30 seconds.  I've heard of people doing this to call the number that called them repeatedly.  I would think that if you can't get the number they're calling from, if you can somehow get the main number of the people who hired them, you might use that number.  Eventually, they'll get a clue.

These old modems can be purchased on ebay for about $20.  An old Hayes 1200, 2400, or 5200 modem should do the trick.  You might have to get an older computer to connect to it, one that has one of the old serial ports (RS-232 port for techies).

    Have fun fighting back!

I've heard of retirees who have nothing much else to do adopting fighting back against telemarketers as a hobby.  Here is another idea:

1.) Answer the call, and after the telemarketer identifies him/herself, say "that person you work for is screwing you big-time".  That might get their attention, so you can continue with "they are screwing you out of lead commissions by making you call people who aren't the slightest bit interested and are wasting your time, time that could be spent calling people who are".  If they hear that enough they might get the message.  They'll probably hang up after hearing that.

2.) Feign interest, and give them a fake address.  They may have just your phone number and not where you live.  You can either give them a fake address, or figure out a way to keep them on the line a long time because this wastes a lot of their time.  If they have your address and someone shows up at your door, just deny that anyone there was ever interested in what they were selling.

Have fun fighting back!  They are harassers who deserve this as they are breaking the law by calling you if your name is on the do-not-call list.

    If I don't recognize a number, I don't answer it.

But as far as stopping the calls, I go right to surrender ... I don't even try to make them stop.   I only have a cell phone so it's easy.  I save their number to my internal phone book under the name "Do Not Call".  I assign that entry to the "Do Not Call" group.  The default ring tone for that group is complete silence.   But just to make sure, I also assign that number it's own ringtone of total silence.  Finally, I enter that number in an app which will hang up on it.

This takes only a few seconds once you have the steps down.  Typing this post took much longer.

I don't think this is a real telemarketer.  The incoherence reminds me of spammers.  How they would get something out of posting here I don't understand but then again I don't understand half of what comes out of a spammer's mouth.

This can't be a real person talking like this.

These people are downright mean!!!! They start telling me information about another member of the family assuming I am that person!! That is highly illegal so I've had to stop them from rambling on & on. Who should I report these crooks to?

Would you be kind enough to give me advice?  I don't know how to go about stopping these people.  I tried to sign my learning disabled son up for Obamacare.  We must have landed on a look-alike site.  We have literally been receiving over 40 calls a day from various telemarketers trying to sell us health insurance.  I asked to be removed from their calling list since my son qualified for medicaid.  That only brought us even more calls.  I've been using call blocking and have all their attempted calls listed.  I noticed this morning that they're creating new numbers to call from.  My call blocking only accepts 25 numbers, and that is quickly becoming filled by the same group of telemarketers.  I am literally being swarmed.

If you ask a telemarketer for information they just get uptight & hang up. You have to play along to get real information,
then tell them the deal. A lot  of these calls come from out of the country, use spoof #'s or caller ID's that if you call back
you get a verity of nothing. There needs to be a way/law to trace calls. I have a problem on my cell ,over 20 calls in 2 months
from #'s all starting with 631 523, after that there are like 20 + deferent #'s. This nonsense is out of control and the government
needs to get more involved. Companies sub out this stuff so they can't be blamed direct , and those co.'s blame it on their
sub's so they say I'll stop but you will still get call's because I'm not the only one. Don't forget a Corp. Mafia runs our
congress and most have no idea what these elected bought & paid for cronies pass in the middle of the night when no
    ones paying attention.
