Telemarketing Script
Here is a list of questions to ask each telemarketer when they call you. Print these questions, and put them next to the phone. Telemarketers are required by law to answer each of these questions. Write the answers down and as well as the date, time of the call, and anything else that will help you remember the call.

- Heather replies to CamTo quote Cool Hand Luke, "Just because it's your job doesn't make it right."
- vacation telemarketer| 5 repliesi call ur houses and sell you vacation packages because your so called friends referred you to the company. we scrub all numbers against the do not call list before entering it into the system. If a customer requests to be deleted while on the phone we hit the delete button and the name and number disappears. the name and number goes straight to corporate office never to be seen again. The fine is up to 10k and none of us "telemarketers" are trying to pay that [***]. Why would you even answer the phone while you are eating dinner if its a unknown number? Sounds like to me you set yourself up for that one. I love my job and I've had customers come meet me face to face and say thank you and tell my boss how helpful and honest I am over the phone. grow up.
- Lisa replies to Scott| 2 repliesI know how you feel. I had one tell me point blank, be ready for me, Im going to call you every day at 8 am so have some coffee ready. Such rudeness. Tonight I got a call (the second just today alone) asking if a mr or mrs marquez was here. when i said this isnt their number anymore the broad asked me well maam are you the homeowner? Whats my bein the homeowner go to do with anything? THey have the wrong person! I hate em too but they show up on my caller id as Unknown Caller. Not sure what to do. I even got on the do not call registry.
- Frustrated Consumer replies to Camwhatever dude but when one of you guys call me asking for someone that does not live here and then when i say no, ask me if im the homeowner thats nonsense. what does my being the homeowner have to do with them having the wrong person. if i wanted your business i would call YOU! So you need to earn a living so what...call people that KNOW youre calling them (like charity places do). when someone says that whoever theyre calling for doesnt live here, and to please not call back...DONT call back! Especially after 9pm!
- LK replies to vacation telemarketer| 4 repliesWell I for one think you telemarketers are the scum of the earth. When people tell you that they have the wrong number, and not to call back, DON'T call back! I had one jerk after I told her she had the wrong number ask me well are you the homeowner? What's that BS got to do with anything?? She STILL had the wrong frigging number! Why don't you one, learn how to spell and use proper grammar and two, get a real job??
- DonDoes anyone know the company name for calls from 8008731993?
- me"Does anyone know the company name for calls from 8008731993?"
I know of many appropriate names for that company, but no I would lower myself to printing for public consumption... - violet replies to John| 1 replyThose companies aren't paying 39 or 41 or 43 cents to send unsolicited offers...more like 17 or 19 cents per piece.
Sad to say, since the popularization of online bill paying, these companies are some of the biggest revenue generators for the postal service.
That being said...
George Hayduke of the 'Getting Even' series recommended taping those postage prepaid envelopes to a large, heavy cardboard box full of rocks, labeling it 'geological core samples' and sending it on it's way. - MattDoes anyone know if and where there is an official rule / statute requiring a telemarketer to allow you to speak to a supervisor upon request?
- JaceI have my cell phone set to to hide its phone number for security reasons. My local taxi company suddenly passed a policy which stated that they were not to serve anyone who's phone number did not show. Can they legally refuse service to a customer just because my phone number doesn't show up on their caller id?
Also, would the taxi company be required not to call me if I told them to put me on their "no call registry" even if I continued to use their taxi service...and if they put me on their "no call registry" would their cab drivers also be required not to call me as well? Last question, if I requested it, would they be required not to give my phone number to the cab drivers? - IquitI have done call center (telemarketing, telefundraising and appointment setting) for Dial America (a lot of people love getting calls from them-really, they have good deals) Texas DPS Officers Association and United Cerebral Palsey. I have never been rude or abusive doing phone work. I recently got a job for a teleresearch company- they are scum. They make all of their people call back when they are hung up on, maybe the first time this is excusable, maybe the connection was bad (people hang up in the middle of an interview without saying anything). I had a call and the girl hung up on me, I called back and she hung up again. One of the boss people told me to keep calling and finish the interview, this is phone harrassment- a crime. I really needed the money because I got laid off my job from outsourcing and havent paid the bills this month, my wife is sick. He told me if I wanted to keep my job I needed to call back however many times it takes.
Anyway, I don't know how I'm going to pay the bills but I quit. I have never been rude or abusive and I have always been very successful as a telemarketer. I have had a lot of people donate money or buy stuff just because they said they love the sound of my voice, really.
These people are criminals and are morally reprehensable. They really fit into the business climate in the USA today- scum are everywhere. Oh well.
I used to work construction till I got hurt on the job and became disabled, I just pray I can pay my bills and get my wife taken care of.
Have a nice day :) - IquitOh- BTW, the girl the boss told me to call back told me to never call her back again. Do you think calling her back would be phone harrassment?
- jackjalopeWhat can you to identify these time thieves when they cannot be identified by phone number on caller ID, when they swipe your phone number by asking you to punch a number in order to be taken off their call list, when they change their names, addresses, and phone numbers at the drop of a hat? State Attorney Generals ask to furnish ID of the caller. The FCC does the same.
- KaneMy girlfriend has been receiving calls from a company called Central Coast Enterprises 866-597-0012. Today she asked to be placed on the do not call list again. I don't know how many times in the past she requested this, but she was immediately hung up on. She tried to call back to get the do not call policy sent to her according to some of these web sites. Every time she called they would hang up on her. I tried calling as well and they hung up on me before i could request to talk to a manager. I tried back again tonight and talked to the original rep (Lance) that hung up on me the first time. he said the owners name is Jerry Rice? (not the hall of famer according to the rep) and of course neither he or any manager were there. Then Lance threatened to call the police on me for harassment and proceeded to hang up on me again. My girlfriend is worried about this, even though I assured her that Lance is full of excrement. Any ideas or suggestions on what I should do?
- extelemarketerI worked 5 months as a telemarketer and we were "taught" about the DNC list but were "encouraged" not to put anyone on it unless they really insisted and in fact I was informed that only a supervisor was authorized to do so. In my first week I was called in to the manager because I had added too many people the the DNC list when they asked me to. 10 in one 4 hour shift. After that I simply ignored people's requests to put them on the DNC list.
