Telemarketing Script

Here is a list of questions to ask each telemarketer when they call you. Print these questions, and put them next to the phone. Telemarketers are required by law to answer each of these questions. Write the answers down and as well as the date, time of the call, and anything else that will help you remember the call.

Yes but some of those children are a product of their parents who are poor but still choose to buys cigarettes, or alcohol or drugs.  So sometimes the best solution isn't to just feed the child for one day but to teach their parents how to live a better life.  And to take their responsibilities seriously.  I had a friend that was a litter younger than me and she was married.  Her husband was lazy and would not keep a job for more than a month.  She would try to work, but they had three children and she could not take care of both.  They would ask to borrow $20 dollars to buy food or gas, and he would go to the movies first with it.  Now you tell me which is better?  Feed the kid for one day or teach the parents a better way of doing things.

"Can't we all just get along"? "HATE" is a very strong word. I don't like telemarketers either, but to "HATE" one, I don't think so!

How about when we receive these "UNKNOWN" or "RESTRICTED" number calls, we just don't answer them. You wouldn't open an email from an unknown sender would you? Have we as a people become so lazy that we can not simply delete an unknown caller or email? I don't like to get them any more than the rest of you. If it was someone important they wouldn't hide thier identity, now would they?

SO i guess none of you had to work through college, or needed a summer job.  I just love how a PRIVATE phone call you dont have to answer ruins your days so much you need to take even more time out of your day to cry about it. I currently have two telemarketing jobs as im a starving student and think all of you have forgotten what the economy is like or how hard it is to find a decent job in a small town. There are bigger things in this world to be upset about like sending 18 yr olds to war only to get sent home w no legs or the fact no one has any compasion for things people need to do to get by. Why is it so easy to ignore the terible things that are happening in the world but not a ringing phone. Lets put things in to  perspective people.

The laws where I am from say that its illegal to use a phone to make obscene calls, nothing about answering a call and being obscene.  So when I answer a 1-800 number I use my air horn on the guys and if its a female then   I start talking like its a sex line.  Rarely get a company call me back or have anything happen with the airhorn.

Yeah why you people hate telemarketers, they are just doing their job and they just wanna earn money. Why people do scamming is because of you guys. you provoke them on doing so... and because of the things you tell them that hurts them,Now, for the reason why you hate them because you somehow rob other peoples money. Remember why you hate about other people is something you hate about yourself. Tell why do you hate telemarketers because you are also one of them robing others money!

Former Call Center Employee replies to William
Make sure that you stay on the phone and get the confirmation number when you ask to be on the company's DO NOT CALL list. They are required to provide this information to you and this way you can make sure you actually were put on that list before hanging up. Some companies will not put you on the list if you simply state to be put on the list then hang up.

yow Jaz... stop trying to be so jazzy. Telemarketers are rejected by consumers so eventually they will be out of business. So stop being too philosophical on this matter.

Take the time, when convenient, to play along just as far as you possibly can. Use your imagination. Think of it as a public service.

    Anonymous Canadian replies to Hysterical
I most certainly did have to work through university, and I'm betting a lot of other frustrated people on this board did also.  We found useful work that didn't involve breaking the law.  Both Canada and the U.S. have "Do-not-call" lists.  Putting your number on this list means that you should not receive any unsolicited sales calls (exceptions: political parties, registered charities, polling or survey companies and companies with which you have an existing business relationship).  Companies that call people on the do-not-call lists in Canada and the U.S. (and who do not meet the exceptions listed) are breaking the law, plain and simple.

I don't care if you have a product or service that is the best thing since sliced bread, my number is on the list and I don't want to hear about it.  If you/your company breaks the law, expect to be abused verbally and have your company charged under the CRTC/FCC act(s) pertaining to the do-not-call registry.

This addresses your first three sentences.  The remainder of your post consisted of blowing things out of proportion, comparing apples and oranges and generally losing all sense of perspective.  Your screen name was well-selected, "Hysterical".

Seriously? You're going to waste time and money taking a telemarketing company to court instead of just saying "no thanks" and hanging up? Is fifteen seconds of your time really that precious?
