Telemarketing Script

Here is a list of questions to ask each telemarketer when they call you. Print these questions, and put them next to the phone. Telemarketers are required by law to answer each of these questions. Write the answers down and as well as the date, time of the call, and anything else that will help you remember the call.

When I realized that the company I worked for just wanted me to cold call all day I just stopped doing anything and eventually they fired me (it took three months out of my seven month tenure!). Collected for four months until someone else hired me. At first I kind of reluctantly did it, but it was really agony. And this was cold calling businesses in a certain industry from a major supplier in the industry. What a waste of time. Ultimately, any good sales effort is going to be in person to some extent. The company only let me go on the road twice. I was volunteering to go on the road with solid leads at any time right up until my second to last day, and I did good work in person. I even got calls back from customers on my private cell looking for me after I left asking me what the calls were about with these guys calling them all the time with offers that had nothing to do with their needs that I had identified by getting them to talk to me rather than laying down some keep them saying yes rap.

I am a telemarketing manager. My agents are taught by me to do it the right way. When asked ANYTHING by the customer they tell the customer the proper answer. If the agent can not provide the answer I will take over the call and answer the question. I believe in being transparent and doing things the proper way. This is a legitimate industry and we work hard to please the customers who choose to do business with us. That is how we feel good about ourselves and get paid.

If you do not want to receive calls, register w/ the national DNC registry.

We utilize a service called tele-block which prevents DNC numbers from being called as well as scrubbing against the national DNC registry.

Sorry, but when telemarketers phone early in the morning, or at supper time its really annoying.  Also, when you tell them you aren't interested in what they are "selling" and they interrogate you as to why you don't want a subscription to whatever magazine, etc.  I'm suspicious of any person that feels a need to see a product you can't see and are going on their vague descriptions...fishy.

You have got to be kidding me - a telemarketer posting on this forum AND trying to elicit sympathy! Telemarketing is NOT a job, it is a disease, a plague. Find a real job where you actually add value to our society. Don't like what I have written? Fine, give me YOUR phone number and we an talk about it.

love being able to "fast forward" thru all that annoying chatter (tv ads) except for the funny ones where the babies are talkin' smack  (some investment company ad I think) those ads are hilarious...
but yes telemarketers are about as annoying as advertising

I'm sorry, but I don't agree...it is the law actually i believe that you have to tell someone that they are being recorded...you wouldn't want the police staking out your house and putting a phone tap on your line would you? No, most people wouldn't like that at all, and that is why (unless they have a warrent) they are required to tell you...and for the record...technically I work in a "call center", I don't know if you would consider it telemarketing because we really aren't selling anything, we call with preauthorized offers...but there are really alot of nice people that call out...you may not think so, and I do apologize for the idiots that give the rest of us a bad name, but I know that I am very nice...my mom raised me to be nice to everyone, and I know that if im going to get a call, no matter what time of the day, I would want to be talked to with respect, and so i try to do the same...and you people that don't have to do this job everyday wouldnt understand...its not fun, and its not like we're sitting there getting some kind of sick thrill out of having to call you...i took my job simply because it really was the only job out there...I have three kids to support, and I put in applications everywhere but nothing, so I took the job...so no we are not evil creatures...we are people and you would be surprised what you would do if it came down to the wire...

I'd like to point out a tactic that works for me.  I receive lots of calls from service companies wanting to do work on my house.  This type of company always needs to make a follow up meeting, whether to make an estimate or to show up to do the work, etc.  I always go for whatever it is they are selling and have them set up the appointment.  When they show up you can do whatever you want.  I usually have just "changed my mind".

Fake telemarketing is the new spam. Email spam is not as effective as it used to be. My parents are in the 60s and don't get to see most of the spam email but when they do, they don't delete it and never open it. Currently, fake telemarketers are impersonating banks and telephone companies and "confirming" details. The act itself is highly suspicious, fake or genuine, confirm your details the correct way and NEVER when someone contacts you or approaches you whether it be email, phone, SMS, Facebook, or a visit from a stranger. The script that fake telemarketers use has an "exit" which they use when you start to ask them for their details. Ask them for their name, company, address and number to call back on and they will ask you to wait while they get their supervisor. Most of the times, the fake telemarketer is a one-person job and there is no supervisor. If there is a "supervisor", continue your round of questions. As technology evolves, these people need to find new ways of acquiring your personal details. I believe fake telemarketers are doomed in the not too distant future because technology is becoming more customisable and there are just too many of them these days and awareness everywhere.

Man, I've had some jobs that really sucked, but I've Never got so hungry I'd do Telemarketing! You have more guts and a thicker skin than I'll ever have! My hat is off to anyone who can hang in there for 3 days. If they can last a whole year, they are probably a sociopath and just need killin'. But anybody who will do that for their family........ Wow! You gotta be Hongry ..... or Tough!
