The caller ID just displays incoming call, nothing else
- William-Here-and-There replies to ctsurv553This is an old story, it happened in 2006.

BellSouth stops displaying caller ID from Sprint customers
As of January 1, 2006, BellSouth customers no longer receive caller ID information from Sprint PCS customers. Any incoming call originating from a Sprint PCS cell phone will usually display the City, State format on the caller ID display instead of the name or business name associated with that number. Based on a 1996 agreement between Sprint and BellSouth, it is likely that this is a result of a ten-year contract. In 2003, Sprint sued BellSouth for $20 million as a result of Sprint claiming Bellsouth violated a 1996 contract by not providing Sprint caller-identification information to BellSouth customers.[a]
Similar caller ID "deals" have been left to the consumer to fight either with their own carrier or through government regulatory commissions for what they should have displayed on their caller ID device. In 2002, Sprint and SBC Communications could not come to an agreement on fees charged to carriers to look up the caller name information.[b][c]

Sunday, May 21, 2006 - ex collection mgr replies to MyomanINcomming call & nothing listed on our phone that you have even received a call!
After getting this call at least 7 times EVERY DAY, for at least the last 3 months, I finally picked it up! IT IS A COLLECTION CALL FROM PREMIER BANK!!! CALL ME ASKING FOR A NEAR BY NEIGHBOR!!!!! I informed them I do not know this person and will report them to the FEDERAL TRADE COMISSION! It is against the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to use deceptive means to try to collect a debt! PREMERE BANK has their calls show only INCOMMING CALL on your caller ID and the call DOES NOT REGISTER AS EVEN BEINGMADE to your phone. All of my other incoming calls register!!! REPORT THISACTIVITY!! IT IS ILLEGAL!!!!
These people call my house ALL DAY & ALL NIGHT LONG!!! This is not my debt and I refuse to contact my neighbor for them! They are breaking the law! I pay my bills and pay for this phone! I already am on the 800 DO NOT CALL!! - Hayden L,Same thing happened to me when my Grandpa called and I have Frontier Communications. What's going on?
- Jerry replies to MyomanThis probably has nothing to do with it, but we got tired of paying Verizon 50.00 a month for landline so got an Ooma and Linx (so phone can be anywhere, works with our wireless router) and now all incoming calls on our phone connected to the Linx only show as "Incoming Call". We don't know of anyone with caller ID that does not see our Ooma phone number (we now have our old verizon number ported) but it may be certain phone types. We saw in forums our incoming caller ID issue happens with certain phones but not sure about outgoing. We have a Uniden cordless dect 6.0 phone.
- Dushan29| 1 replyLeft no message. My ID interface showed only, "Incoming Call" Nothing else.
Does anyone have a way to defend against such calls with no number? I have ATT to block 20 numbers and another 30 numbers which my Panasonic portable phone can block.
Here is something I will try: Deleting the first letter which could stand for the #1 Then subsitute the letters for the numbers on the dial which will get you the following telephone number>>> 626-646-4255 which is a scam number which has been identified as a scam number at google.com Nothing to lose in trying to block it. - Tamianth replies to Dushan29Newer call blocking devices can block unknown, private name & number.
- Faz replies to lone strangerOh man, I am cracking up. Literally dying laughing.

- Debra| 1 replyI took care of a elderly man for two years that passed away about a month ago. I still go to his house to take care of his wife. This past week some wierd things have been going on with my cell phone and his home phone. I get calls from his phone at night while im not there but nonone is calling me from his phone but its his number. Then one night I was spending the night with his wife and the house phone rings about midnight. I jump up to answer it, noone says a word. It was my cell phone that was calling! !!! My cell phone was in my purse! Ok now. Since he passed away lots of 1 800 numbers are calling the house at crazy hours of the night. When answerd nothing but silence. Any thoughts? Last night it happened again. I'm at home at my house get two calls from his home back to back. I called over to see if by a chance someone there called. ....they didn't! What's going on?
- William replies to DebraThere are scammers who try to trick the relatives of deceased people into paying back "loans" and "bills" the scammers allege the deceased owes them. Some of the scammers might know the wife is elderly and are trying to reach her to trick her. Some might be troublemakers trying to interfere with the elderly woman's sleep, just because they are jerks. These scammers might have both the elderly person's number and your number and are seeking to harasss both of you, spoofing your numbers and various other numbers in the calls.
It's a good thing you are there to intercept these calls. My suggestion is for you to call the police and request information about stopping this type of elder abuse, as it originates outside of both of your homes. - Mia1269 replies to MyomanI have also gotten a call with no caller id I was stupid to answer the won't stop calling
- LynneThe problem with these calls here (Verizon FiOS) is that they circumvent the answering machine and therefore ring endlessly, driving us insane. I have started picking up, opening the line, then disconnecting without saying anything. But this is an annoying routine. Twice when I answered, thinking perhaps our phone system was not working, the caller was from the same outfit, claiming to be taking a survey on behalf of Loma Linda University Hospital. I would never talk to them because I resent being tricked like this. But they have called at least 3 times that I'm aware of, already. I need to block them.
- Margo replies to MyomanI am getting the same thing, just says incoming call, doesn't leave a message and it does show on ID history. I am getting these several times a day often only a couple of minutes between calls. I just don't answer. Will they ever get fed up.
- MargoSorry I meant it doesn't show on ID history
- Debbie| 2 repliesI receive a lot of "incoming calls". In my case, it seems to be a problem with the equipment not picking up the caller ID. It doesn't register on the caller list at all. I have a call blocker that blocks calls with no number, but it doesn't stop these. Many times when I do answer, it turns out to be someone I know who is in my address book. It has to be an equipment failure, either my phone or the phone company, although they deny it's their fault.
