STOP Robo Calling by Reporting them to the FCC Online

By all means, report the calls to the FCC.gov and to the Federal Do Not Call Registry!

There is a robo-call boiler room that has started up since November, 2012, in the metro New Orleans area. I am very certain about who the person is who is behind the calls, which begin with either 504-861-58xx or 504-539-4503 (or similar numbers). He has spoofed his ID to be that of Loyola University. He is now spoofing himself to be a marketer of medical alert equipment to seniors.

When the phone rings 20 to 50 times before shutting off, I know definitely it is him. He thinks that making these aggravating calls is "cute". He also actually runs a collection agency out of his house! Oh, if only enough information could be gathered about him to shut him down! (Worse, he lives right next door. He hates my guts, and I don't like his guts, either.)

I've been reporting robocallers to the FTC for a couple of years now and, if anything, the frequency has only increased to my cell and landline--both on the DNC.  Until the government  gets serious about developing both technical and legal means to stop these endless calls, I don't think continued reporting is going to do much good.

Answer the phone and keep the caller on the line as long as possible. When you run out stalling tactics., use some good foul language and then hang up. Eat as much of their time as possible.

First, I believe you are probably a liar. And that is the good news. I don't know when I last encountered an intact, working, phone booth. I believe 2600 has given up on even looking for them.

Second, the actions you claim to have engaged in have the potential to get someone killed.

Third, if you did this to me you would be facing both civil and criminal action. (Assuming I could contain my anger and forego a more direct and personal response.)

Fourth, I feel certain that when you arrive in h3ll, your special punishment will be to consume your own excrement until the end of time. At least that is what seems most appropriate.

I was the victim of a robocall DNC violation by Verizon Communications trying to peddle their services to me.  I HAVE filed a formal FCC complaint.  BUT I am intertested in making sure these SOB's truly get properly punished.  A friend of mine is a class action lawyer who would bring a serious multi-million dollar law suit against Verizon if we can identify enough victims.

Is there a way to get a list of all DNC complainst about a speciific company (in this case Verizon) through the FCC database and/or thru a FOIA request?

The DNC complaint database is available to law enforcment from the FTC.  

"What happens to my complaint?

While the FTC does not resolve individual consumer problems, your complaint will help us investigate the company and could lead to law enforcement action."

I am not aware of other access, but instead of asking here, why not simply contact the Federal Trade Commission?

I am curious, were (are) you a Verizon customer?  Or were they cold calling a non-customer?

I am both a Verizon and an AT&T customer, and have been for years, but the only one of the two who may have made calls to me which were violative has been AT&T.  I can't help but be curious why some of us get singled out for special treatment while others are not.  Just lucky I guess.  AT&T's U-verse marketing has been the most abusive campaign I have encountered - to the point that I filed a police complaint regarding some of their more over the top behavior.

We are getting a LOT of calls using invalid area codes in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The one time I answered it appeared to be someone who sounded like they may be from India.  I cut him off before he could go into a telemarketing dialogue.  Told him to quit calling.  We now do not answer when we see the number, but it is occurring up to 4 times a day, with no message left when we do not answer.  The number is 216-951-3575.

Actually, a better thing would be to schedule a time at your home for the appointment.  If it's a DNC or robocall violation, go down to the local small claims court and file a case against them.  When they show up, serve them right then and there.  Make sure you have your ducks in a row, and petition the court for $1500 in statutory damages for 'known or should have known' violations of the TCPA.  This is not legal advice, just a idle suggestion. And better than involving some random person.

Lone Stranger was simply pointing out the problems with what George is suggesting. To be honest I find what George posted to be downright creepy at the very least. In fact I believe this George has serious issues and I do not believe his post should even be on this site.

I find it odd that someone is replying to a 2 year old post.   As far as what George did or claims to have done, or even is advocating is probably criminal.  In addition, if that person was shot and killed or seriously injured by the homeowner George would be complicit and be facing charges himself.  I write it of as someone spouting off on the keyboard trying to make himself look important and smart.

When I saw Bob responding to a post by Long Stranger, I had to see what it was all about since he has not seen LS in about two years. I was rather shocked at the comments by George. To be honest, I think Bob should have answered LS instead George.
Maybe one day LS will make a return to 800notes. It has been the same.

I know how you feel about LS. Sometimes people leave way too soon before their time. I had a colleague who experienced complication with some surgeries she had a few years ago... was undergoing further treatments for that. We met for lunch four months ago. She was a spiritual person and told me she saw a vision of me in the woods, sort of like Oregon area, in a huge log house. Maybe she was seeing a premonition of her own "new home". Yesterday her husband (of 2 years) posted on her blog that she had passed away.
