"B8r"? "B8r"? Really? So he's a "Bater"? Like in the movie 'Idiocracy', "Go 'way! 'Batin!" ??? That's messed up right there.

What is needed is a PBX type of system (Private Branch eXchange) which a residential user can program to block specific incoming area codes as well as block specific outgoing area codes, to prevent calls going out to certain trouble-making countries. Relying on the phone companies to provide this type of function is like using the old Centrex system, or using Google Voice. Cell phone users have to rely on the carrier to provide this as the programming and data is too much to put into the flip phones and candy-bar phones and many smart phones. Maybe Apple will figure something out for its iPhone market.

Apparently what Mr b8r and other "revenge call forwarding" advocates fail to realize is that they can be pursued in the courts for their actions. They are essentially conducting a denial of service attack on the telemarketers. This is tortious interference with their business and those doing it can be sued for big bucks.  The fact that the telemarketers they are targeting with the forwarded calls are themselves making alleged illegal telemarketing calls is immaterial to their actions and cannot even be brought up in court.  They also fail to realize that telephone company records will clearly show from what numbers the calls were forwarded.  While the chances of getting sued may be low, especially in the case of foreign telemarketers, the risk is non-zero and something I would never take a chance on.  A call blocker is a far better, zero risk option.

are so much fun and we need a break once in a while!  But yes, sir, back to the topic which should be lock this thread since the it has been beaten to death and me thinks that everyone should by now have the point that a combination of methods (DNC, different phone systems, online services and plain old don't pick up) will do the trick. No method is perfect and a criminal will always find a way now and then but that is where don't pick up the phone comes into play. Thread can now be locked!

All I know is that this thread is about call blocking. With that said, I will say it would be great if I could get a call blocker in a designer color like burnt umber.

Any suggestions on a phone with call blocking settings that may be reasonable and available at the most common retail stores?

I know Panasonic has a number of models available. One of the advantages is that they accept traditional AA rechargeable batteries as opposed to those batteries wrapped in plastic with the wire connected.

Yes, Panasonic makes several cordless models that can block calls. Current models block up to 250 numbers and now support first ring suppression.

Yes, Rusty, we use the Panasonic. We are buying a new one since ours is getting old but it has done a wonderful job of stopping calls. And since we are getting the one with five, yes FIVE, handsets, we can put one in every room and we never have to go running to look at the call. Plus it blocks more numbers. AND it will be nice not to have the first ring on blocked calls. Along with a free robo blocking service, it will work better than even what we have now. Total peace and quiet!I will be sorry to see the old one go but it has worked wonderfully and it will be nice to modernize with it's big brother! And they are not that expensive. Darn, though, it does not come in designer colors. Someone mentioned burnt umber but I would prefer pink! And for cell phones that don't have blocking there is a service you can find on line that will block calls quite effectively. You have to block new ones that come in, but it has an unlimited number of unwanteds you can do. Has worked wonderfully on my cell phone although you do have to pay a small monthly service charge. Oh, and it records any message left for you so if you need it in the future it is always there plus gives you a nice call log you can print out . Yes, all these methods together have brought much needed peace to our house.[:]

I tried the nomorobo.com blocking system, and it seems to be working well.  Thanks for the tip.
