WAKA NETWORK scam with false survey and false Walmart gift cards
- Dawn replies to angryGRAMMAYep, I have had them calling daily, and I finally answered, and went to my computer to see their website, at the callers request, claimng I had done a survey. Which I hadn't - and yes, there is the same offer as the person below or earlier than me . . . same gift same amount of money $100 in gas,, $50 for WALLMART gift card and so on . . .
SCAM is too kind a word. I don't know how to get them from calling me daily, this number is the one that comes up on caller ID: Carlsbad NM, 505-234-7917 So ut is registered, in NM as well as CA and NV . . . I can't get them to stop, but I was finally annoyed enough that I answered , , , and the con began . .. she hung up on me after I WENT TO MY COMPUTER as she said, went on the site, and it is wakanetwork.com
I also don't usuall do this kind of thing, either, so I hope I don't live to regret it, but yes, they are a ponzy scheme. - SamI got a call just now from this number - 773-312-3210. The woman claimed that she is from wakanetwork and I won $160 worth of Walmart Gift Card. She asked me to go the website. I logged in to the website got to the website and also thought to check their reputation on web. This forum came up and I realized this is a scam. I hung up politely and thought to report my phone call too. Thank you all for sharing your experience. Together we can root these scammers out.
- Amber replies to angryGRAMMAI just received a call and have received several missed calls. They don't leave messages but theses calls can be blocked, The number they called me in Ohio from is 330-269-0654. They have been calling for the last 4 days. I know to not answer that one. How crazy is that now you that they are sharing your information with someone. Stop doing surveys!!!!
- TomCI started getting calls from same company from 912-200-7032 lady trying to get me to go to a secure site to fill out survey so I could get free gas card when started asking for money and what not I realized was a scam and being network tech I sent a virus into their server that couple of guys in my last class wrote for just fun of it it will scramble numbers stored on their hard drive changing 8s to X and 4s to L for example not actual translation incase they see this dont want to chance they can redecode any credit card numbers may of tricked people into sending them.
- TOTALLYTICKEDStay away from these creeps! They have highjacked my debit card twice and have charged stuff from all over. Police report has been filed and hopefully will go up the chain to cybercrimes and these thieves are all put in jail.
- queenamasiahI just received the call and it was from a local cell number 2678209136 so looks like there getting smarter. but as I pulled them up on the internet this page came up first. Thank goodness for that . I hung up on the rep and I hope this page stops others from being scammed
- RobinThis company calls me about ten times a day with a recorded female voice telling me I could get a gas, Walmart and other gift cards for taking their survey. Each time I say, "Stop calling me" or "Place me on your do-not-call list," the recorded voice says no. I tried pretending to walk through the process with her in hopes of faking the system out so it would stop calling, and eventually the recorded system actually started spelling out profanities letter by letter. I can't believe some of the stuff companies are coming up with to rip people off!
- thomas| 1 replyi got a call to but they from 1877 332 1490 said i got 100$gas card n 65$ gift card but i had to pay 2.99 to get it

"What do they want?
There are two possible answers to this question. They may tell you that they want to give you a $10 Wal-Mart card, and all they need is some contact info. They will push for you to “go to your computer” to sign on and complete the order. This is where they will attempt to get personal information that you absolutely should not give them. They may also want to up-sell you to a $100 Wal-Mart card in exchange for filling out a survey. Either of these cards will eventually require your credit card number and contact information for some phony “processing” charge such as $2.98. Do not give these people your credit card information! It’s also possible they want you to sign up for a “rewards” program, which will be impossible to complete. Either way, you will be on the losing end of this battle.
If you ask them how they got your number, they’ll probably tell you that you filled out a survey online, which you probably didn’t. If you ask them what survey it was, they either won’t know or will tell you some cryptic name that won’t sound familiar. You may actually be talking to a computer, and not a real person."

I believe it is best to do or have absolutely nothing to do with these scammers. They already have a lousy reputation behind them! - cwhite36I live in OH and I for this and let them bill me the $2.99, plus tx end up being $3.04, as soon as I realized what I done I tried to call & cancel and they told me I had to get an ext for 14 more days. I was pissed said OK then called back 14 days later and they tried to tell me I had one more day cause i didnt try the giftcards. Told the lady sounds like the same lady from the previous calls i just want to cancel dont want it not going to use it not even the giftcards and gas cards dont care just close the account. She still didnt want to had to go off on her to get her to do wat i was asking!!!PISSED I HATE THIS COMPANY, PISSED I FELL FOR THIS!! Please file a class action suit because they are everywhere.
- duane replies to Love Mariecancel the card
- VYKI replies to Love MarieCall your credit card company and tell them about the scam and they will not pay them.
- Ralph Preiman replies to crowbarI just got a call and WAKA tried to get my credit card number. I only use pre-paid cards from Walmart, Target, Best Buy. Almost always ITunes cards. The conversation if you could call it that was very strange. I just told them I'm very poor and have no credit cards lol. One of my cards is unlimited, I have a 50' Carver Yacht. I'm not Rich just middle class but am smart with my credit and money. Never give your credit card info to someone on the phone. EVER ! I'm concerned when it's someone I know well. With these cordless land lines all you need is a radio to intercept your calls. Same thing with Cell phones or so I'm told. One more thing, you can't get something for nothing. Your Mommy taught you that and it's still true today.
