I received notices and calls from Wilber & Associates, as well. They said I was registered to a vehicle that was in an accident. They gave me the name of the other person who the vehicle is registered and the tag #. I called the "client", USAA, and they said that my name was not on the registration and it was only in the other person's name. Try going to the "client" that Wilber & Associates are supposedly representing and ask them for information.
From your extremely unclear post, it appears you are stating that a debt collector can suspend a license. If that is the case perhaps you should take your own advice are read the law. They can't. What this outfit can do as a subrogation company collecting on an insurance claim is report that the person did not have coverage at the time of the accident. If state law states that they must have coverage, then the Dept. of Motor Vehicles or the State Agency in charge of issuing driver's license might revoke the license according to the law. Now, if you want to call me a liar, please come back with your proof, i.e. the exact statute in the state you are referring to (since there are 50 different states there are probably 50 different specific laws). Now if you think that he said different, then you need to start taking reading classes again.
Well, I'll be generous and assume that you were supporting Yoda1725's rebuttal, agreeing that Wilber lacks the power to revoke or suspend anything, and advising that we turn to applicable statutes for guidance with the insufficient and confusing assertions being made here in this thread every few weeks.
I believe so. I was NOT in a wreck, but they want me to pay for an alleged wreck from an unknown party last year that happened in a city I rarely even drive past.
I suggest you just block the number and ignore them. If they call from multiple numbers or you just want to stymie them, tell them that you refuse to talk to them until they postal mail (not email nor fax) you a hardcopy of the accident's police report showing your involvement and, until then, they can just perform "procreative acts on their own persons" (although I doubt they would even understand the meaning of the phrase.) Should they be brash (read stupid) enough to actually send you a "Police Report", a quick call to the actual Police Office in that jurisdiction will reveal it as fraudulent and you can then turn it (and the envelope it came in) over to your local Postal Inspector for mail fraud and let this cheesy outfit deal with the Feds. (Note: The above is just suggestion and should not be construed as legal advice.)
Hey Nim, I learned a long time ago that the words Postal Inspector even scares the local postmaster to the point of having a coniption fit. Those Postal Inspection people just do not quit until they get to the bottom of things. My money is on that that sleaze company will never ever send anything through the mail!!!
I agree with Nim on this, and they need to get proof out to you in hard copy via US mail and also send a police report.

I was in a wreck without insurance in Ohio, it wasnt my fault but Ohio is an insured state and as an uninsured driver your automatically at fault. Wilbur an associates contacted the bmv and now im suspended under a security agreement. Once u set up a payment plan or pay it off they are supposed to send u a release to send to the bmv,( i also have to pay $150 reinstatement fee and maintain an sr 22 for 3 years as a penalty from the bmv for driving w/o insurance) I set up a payment arrangement but when the release never came in the mail and i was suspended, i called back and was told that i dont even have an installment plan set up, that until i have 50% of the wreck paid they wont send me a release, the payment agreement i set up for the next year to pay off the wreck doesnt qualofy for the release until %50 is paid , im waiting to hear back from my specialist - im hoping the unpleasant individual i spoke with doesnt know what shes talking about because when i set up the payment arrangement my specialist didnt say anything about any of that! Im 6 months pregnant, i have a 15 month old son and i have to be able to get to work. I should have had insurance but im paying for that now, this company is making it impossible for me to provide for my family by even getting to work to make the money to keep paying them, and i was told if u miss a payment then the agreement is void and i will be suspended until the balance of the wreck is paid!
In Ohio the company can have you suspended under a security suspension, at which point the matter must be resolved and then the comoany will provide you with documentation to show to the bmv to reinstate.
