    Kally,

If you had looked up the thread specifically about that number before posting in the more general Forums here, you would have seen that your caller has already been reported, and you would have seen the latest information about what to do about it.

Your report belongs in that thread, not here. See https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-202-506-9166#p680762315535546780 for that thread, and for the latest details on this particular type of scam, please see https://800notes.com/forum/ta-97219e249ee2fc8 ... gicjack-numbers .

And yes, the caller about whom you are complaining does show up as using a magicJack number.

I got a call a few months ago from 202 number from "Crime Investigation division of IRS" where there were three "IRS attorneys" and need to talk right away. I told them to send what they have in writing and I will consult my attorney. They hung up.

Last week from 917-508-6010 from "Criminal Enforcement Division of IRS" and need to call immediately. Similar authoritative tone and message.

There is already a complaint thread about that number.  Please use the "Phone Number Search" box (with the big red letters printed in red) on the right side of this page to find it and out your post there, where people who are called by that number are likely to find it.

I will tell you, however, that 917-508-6010 is a magicJack number and is NOT the IRS.  You should look at: http://www.news-sentinel.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar ... 995/1054/SPORTS
    for more information.

Just now I got few calls from 206-641-7014 with very strange accent guy on the phone. I hardly understand what he was saying, I know IRS wouldn't call to inform me any crime especially when he told me it's a tax fraud. I reported tax every year with my CPA, I told him to talk to my CPA and he was yelling over the phone threatening my local police will come to arrest me and send me back to China. Well well well, I was laughing at his face and hang him up. Oh before I hanged up I FXXK him off and let him know I am not going anywhere I am US Citizen and I am going to IRS to report him. Never received call back after.

Glad to see that you satisfied your craving for revenge.  While you are still undergoing your case of phone rage, please report the number calling you somewhere where it might help others and where people might find it.  Simply go down the right hand column of this page until you see the big red words, "Phone Number Search."  Then enter the phone number that called you in the box under those words and press "search."

If you do this, you will be taken to the first of perhaps several pages of comments about this number.  If there are any comments, you can read them there and decide whether you have anything useful to add to them.  In this case, there do not appear to be any prior reports, so you can post the first comment.

I received the same call last night, claiming he was from the IRS in San Francisco (I live in the Midwest) and that I was being sued.  I told him I believed in him and he should go back and get his GED, and he hung up.

You really got to be careful these days. One of my neighbors got a call like this and was scared out of her wits as she is older and not computer savy. I showed her this website and the IRS warning from their website and was relieved that this is a scam. We have to get the word out to warn people son they do not get scammed out of their hard earned money. Also I just came from a thread that they were even spoofing the real IRS number you call to check your tax return status. Be careful with anyone calling you from that number as it is only used as I mentioned in my post.

I got the same IRS call from a person with a fairly heavy accent asking me or my retained attorney to contact 202-506-9166.

This is clearly a scam because the caller did not ask for me by my legal name. Please be careful.

    Another one... replies to Jenny
At 11:30 AM today (03/08/2014, Saturday), I have received a similar call from one "Officer David Park" who has a very heavy but distinct Indian accent, whom only called me by my FIRST name, claiming that there is an "IRS criminal" investigation of me. He wants me to write down the "case number" and to call someone else (a Mr. Kevin Brown) immediately (at 202-506-9274) who is in charge of the investigation. He also have my street address. But he can't answer my questions as to how he got my home phone number since I left no such contact number with IRS nor can he answer why American IRS works on Saturday. Perhaps in India their IRS works on weekends. I asked for his number and he said he is at 202-506-9010. I'm not about to try either one...

There is a new scam. It goes like this:

A person calls the home [in a thick Russian voice, in a VERY demanding tone] claiming "you have been named in a tax evasion case".... it goes on... "you will be arrested by the Sheriff of your county if you do not clear this up"... "Press #1 to clear this up, press #9 to ignore". 1st call 3-21-14 8:30am, 2nd call [same recording] same day, 10:45am. All their calls are recorded for posterity.

I may call the number from a pay phone and offer a large cash 'settlement' and see if I can get a PO box number. The phone number he gave, as he put it, "the call-back number is" is 866-978-6544.

    Scamola!
