I don't answer numbers I don't know and where they do not leave a message. A few days ago I started getting calls from a couple of numbers. Always the same two numbers and always with several repeat calls throughout the day and evening. No messages left. I've found both on the lists here and they are noted as scams to get money and information from me. Here's the numbers:

    307-335-3262
    727-712-0152

The new thing today is a fax my Human Resources person received. It freaks me out because if it hadn't stated that she should ask me to sign the release of information, she might have sent this fake company my personal information and I could have my identity stolen!

The fax says to call this number for information: 877-404-7754. This number is listed here as a scam number from a fake collector that threatens. Then I received a call listed as "UNKNOWN." A message was left on my voicemail with a call back number that matches the call back bumber on the fax sent to my office.

The caller does not have a middle eastern accent. He has a very deep voice and a very stern manner. He says he's Alex Baker and that he's calling regarding serving me with papers for a pending lawsuit against me. He says the phone call is my notice that I've been served and if he doesn't receive a notice from the company at the 877 number that he will be calling me to set up a time to serve me at my home or business. He also referenced my niece but he spoke so fast that even after listening to the message several times I could not make out why he said her name but I will be contacting her to tell her not to give anyone information about me.

There are two fax numbers on the fax that was sent to my office: 716-691-5412 and 716-691-5498.

I will be giving the fraud into to my Human Resources manager and will be looking up places to turn these people in.

    annoyed and angry
I know all too well what everyone is saying.    Unfortunetly, they got me to pay them money, almost 2 grand worth!    I was working a job at minimum wage, my husband was working 2 jobs, and I was pregnant.    I didn't want anything to happen to my family so I paid them.   This was all over a year ago!    Now I have my real debtors calling me and now I'm f***ed!   I know I was totally stupid!!!    Does anyone know how I can get my money back?   I already called my bank and that doesn't work to dispute it, it's been too long.   Do I get the police involved?   I'm also starting to get phone calls again from a 972-498-5000 number.   But they give a 646-626-6117 number to call back.   I called, of course they are in their indian accents with fake american names, I threaten them they hand up on me every time I call their bluff.   I'm so sick of it!   I really don't want to have to change my phone #.   Can they get into your credit too if they have all of this information already?!?!

Over the past year I have been called by various people one had me money gram money to someone in Tx. The next day they called and asked if I could send it to another person never told me why. I was scared but I went down to Money Gram and got my money back.  These people are horrible they will try to scare you and use anything to get you to send them money. I called the Attorney General of my state gave them the phone number and the calls stopped. Today I got a new call from someone named Samantha same accent as the rest here are some of the numbers I have received. 646-626-6103, 707-335-2100, 760-514-0176, 760-284-5433  It is rare that they will give you the name of the "law firm" they work for. One did and they used the name United Nations Legal Deptartment. Dont talk to them tell them you found their phone number on the internet and that they are listed as a scam. Ask for the name of the officer who is going to come and arrest you.

thank you Lamet for posting this list. I did not post on this site advising people to pay up or face the consequences. I have posted many posts on the Harassing Calls from a debt collector site, and was surprised to see that some scammer used my name to try to get people to pay.

They have called me two different times in the last six months. They call my cell and leave a message and also send me a numeric page text. Then will turn right around and call my work. Tell me that this will unfold on me and all the can do is wish me good luck. The number "Marvin" with a terrible accent used was 760-561-3512

    Pissed off !!!
I read this thread and went back and looked at the number left on my caller ID. Something very weird happened. My phone did not record the number that showed up on my TV when I received the call. I also had a call recording on my voice mail at the same time I got this call. Two calls happening at the same time.  One a live person the other a recording that was threatening.
The number left on my phone did not have a prefix. It had a name which was not the same name as the guy on the phone.  Dude on the phone says he is Dale. calling from 800-517-3114 that number came up on my TV.  Name on the phone saved on my incoming call list is *XAYTHAVONE  VIE  955-1236.  I have never filled out paperwork for or received a payday loan in my life.  This amounts to harassment and I think it's illegal.  What has happened to our privacy is it got deregulated years ago. Cool it became competitive but should not have become illegal. They put a stop to slamming. That is where once you answer your phone and hang up you have a new phone company. The feds stopped that why cant they they stop this Bull shet???
Does this happen to politicians, law officers or lawyers? Where are the Fat Cats that can do something about this. I say start filling the mail boxes of your local politicians, legislators, governors, state representatives. It is an election year.
Something similar happened to me when I purchased a teeth whitening product for a couple of bucks sold as a warehouse close out on MSN home page. Got charged like 9 times for the product and it was over 900.00. Then I got a couple of charges from a company that claimed I agreed to purchase their services by buying teeth whitening products. Didn't happen. I started to investigate, it took a couple of days but I got enough information to file a complaint with the state attorney general for theft of a credit card.  Had to cancel my CC. I yelled @ the CC company and asked them what they were thinking allowing those charges that were obviously fake.  Again these companies are located first in this country and then routed out of the country. Canada is notorious for allowing scams to flourish in the US.
BUT it is our country that allows this to continue.  Use email it is effective. Write a standard complaint letter and send it many times to the same agencies and governing authorities everyday.  They get tired of it.  Change your phone number.  Every one of us have to get mad and proactive. Start complaining and harassing your phone company-make it an issue. You pay for a phone number for services not harassment.  This is what I am going to do because now I am really mad and I am not going to take this any more!

    Pissed off !!!
I got a call from this number today, they were looking for my son and told me he had used my information to pass a bad check. That I needed to call this number back, use a case number and talk to a police officer about a pending arrest warrant. I have no idea what they are talking about and why would they call me and act like they were the police department? I don't think it is legal to pose as a police officer on the phone if your not one is it? Who are these MF any way? Is it OK for this business to call and harass me for something I did not do? Any one could look up information and use it as a reference. I dont have a son !!! I would like to know who to report these people to for harassment!!! Any one out there know who to contact?

    Curious, Any Identity Theft
Fortunately, I have not received any calls from any of the numbers listed.  Appears from the posts, that if a payday loan contract was ever done or you were possibly listed as a reference for someone else, they have your number.  Quite possibly (probably) a breach in their database whereas personal information was stolen and sold thus also creating opportunity for identity theft.  Keep tabs on your credit profile and bank accounts.  Possible identity theft going on somewhere.  Don't give up any information.

Add another number to the list--000-000-0000---It shows up on caller id as name not found. These middle eastern people need to go back where they came from and quite scamming hard working people for their money.

Just got 9 calls in a row from someone pretending to be Alex Johnson (thick middle eastern Indian accent) threatening and harassing...only God can help me now. Won't listen to anything you have to say telling them to explain what they are calling from, read from some sort of scripted speech. I've now reported to local police department, and will now report to FBI, FDCPA and anyone else who will take a message including Secret Service. The number they call from is 213 537-3896, which when checked in a mobile number. When you dial back *67 someone picks up, not an office, must be some sort of center and scam artists trying to scare you into paying them money on a pay day loan you supposedly took out. Threatening with arrest, etc. Don't pay them anything and don't let them scare you. Report them to all your local agencies. They won't even identify the name of their firm. Called them back with a *67 and told them never to call my number again. Recall the calls if you can. You can turn the calls over to officials. Aggrevating, Aggrevating foreign speaking individuals using American names and daring to use God's name as only God can help you now. How dare them!
