- teebs replies to called several times| 1 replyThese calls are a result of adding a number to the CRTC "do not call list" my girlfriend and I both added numbers to the do not call list and we started receiving the 000-000-0000 calls in a week or so after. As a test I then added my work phone number in the list a few weeks after and guess what...? One week or so after entering my work number to the do not call list the 000 calls are now calling it too.
So, obviously this is not a coincidence and they are using the very service designed to block calls such as this. - coangrI just got an email back from the CRTC on my complaint that I filed under the Do Not Call List. They ignored the issue.
Dear Sir/Madam,
Recently, you filed a complaint with the National Do Not Call List
operator with regard to a potential violation of the Unsolicited
Telecommunications Rules. Specifically, you alleged that you received an
unsolicited telecommunication from a telemarketer.
Your complaint was subsequently sent to the Canadian Radio-television and
Telecommunications Commission (the CRTC). This is to inform you that CRTC
staff have reviewed your complaint and have determined that there are
insufficient grounds to pursue further investigation. Consequently, the
file containing your complaint has been closed. - 1cooldude21actually i have got multiplae reports that the phone number 000-0000 is the devil calling you. it could be true.
- cassieI had a call with the phone number 000 000 0000 this is the first number I have ever had of this type, my phone number is blocked not that it matters any more,I picked the phone up and nobody there just a pre-message from a travel agent talking a about a holiday cruise, the last time I had a phone call similar, I looked it up and it came from Flight Center. so I am thinking it is from the same people only with a different number, I cannot understand how the phone companies let such numbers every get through to their customers. I don't think by registering your number does any good if the numbers starting with 000 get to you phone, somebody is not doing their job, if everybody finds out who is calling they should write the companies name and phone number so we all can see it.

- So AnnoyedOf course I had to Google 000-000-0000 since this number keeps calling my cell. Here's the deal, 'they' call at the same time everyday 10 or 11 am EST. I always let it go to v-mail, they never leave one. I am with Telus, so it's not because I am a Bell cellphone customer. I have no doubt it's the purchasing of telemarketing phone numbers and now they are blocking them. In Canada, we now have a National Do Not Call list. I put my home phone and cell phone on it. My phone number is also blocked (both lines) so if it keeps happening, I am going to put a rude message on my v-mail or call Telus to get it to stop because it actually could YOUR provider. In Canada, the NDNC list EXCLUDES those that you purchase services from. Which sucks. If I want something from my provider, I will call them.

- *TeleSpoof* makes me illJust to let everyone know, we can all spoof caller id now. A service is being offered for free on the net. Anyone can pretend to be anyone, calling from anywhere. I can call you right now and pretend to be your bank, credit card, school, police etc. This must be illegal! I've been receiving these calls for a long time. Pretty soon, I just wont have a phone.

Check it out for yourself, do a practice call. I did and I found out that anyone can pretend to be anyone. I got my caller id to come up with 867-5309 (Jenny) Be careful. DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFO....always ask to call the company back first.- Caller: Stupid Won a Cruise Bulls*it

- CA lot of these weird numbers are also from SKYPE users, so you can't always know who is calling. I receive a lot of strange numbers like this, my husband works over seas and uses Skype to call home, so I have to answer them. But I do get solicitors calling from these weird phone numbers too.

- Ana *I've gotten two phone calls and I've never answered and never received a VM. I am SURE it's not the FEDS LMAO!!!! Unless you've done something bad, then there is nothing to worry about.
Some commented about cruses and such, I've received mail regarding those things and it makes sense that it may be those people trying to reach me that way. I just thought it was a collection agency of some sort but after reading everyone else's it's obvious it's just pranks. BUT IT'S NOT THE FEDS! Lol again, that's too funny. The feds contacting you? Who are you? LOL!!! Just don't answer.... - Pete replies to teebsBut look at the incompetents that put the DNC into place.
- Gerry replies to the cruise folksMy guess is the list got sold. Never trust them.
- haywardVoice recording - prompt said to just answer these ten questions, and claim our boarding pass for a cruise from Nassau, Bahamas, (Majesty Cruise Lines ?) Questions about my age, sex, home ownership, whether or not I had children, internet, cable, and finally whether or not I was a smoker. After answering the questions, said to go to website , and if didn"t have internet, would be contacted within 48-72 hours to confirm phone numbber and postal code. At the beginning of the call, I was assured that I would NOT be asked for an address or credit card #, so for fun, and interest, I proceeded.
- Call type: Survey
- cmas soon as I picked up the phone, a loud noise like a ship's horn, and a voice saying 'hello, this is your captain speaking...'
- Kevin| 2 repliesI received several calls from these folks as well and was actually home today to answer the phone. After hearing the initial pitch, I decided today to go along with the survey to find out what the "hook" was, as clearly what was being offered was too good to be true.
I answered the automated questions and spoke to a live operator who briefly confirmed what I'd already given him. The automated system then kicked in again and then gave me the www.survey.com website--purportedly belonging to the "Survey Research Center"--that, not surprisingly, did not produce any results (other than a prompt after three failed log-ins to say that I should contact them, through their website, to describe the problems I was having).
In any event, my only real concern as the result of this process is that these less-than-honest people now have a name, phone number and postal code associated with myself. Although I won't be losing too much sleep over this (as this info is publicly available through the phone book, anyway), I'm curious to see why these scammers are going to the bother of collecting what appears to be "harmless" info on others. So far, from my research at this website and others where the same experience with the "Survey Research Center" was reported, it doesn't appear that the "hook" has really manifested itself in any dark way, however only time will really tell. Nevertheless, for those who wish to know a bit more about who may be responsible for these calls, please have a look at the information below that I was able to extract from www.networksolutions.com when I plugged in another web address (http://dnstree.info/) that looks remarkably like www.surveyclaim.com:

I haven't tried to phone these numbers, however if they do belong to the persons responsible, it might be a good idea to turn the tables on them!
Good luck to all and hope that this doesn't ruin an otherwise decent holiday season.- Caller: surveyclaim.com (Survey Research Center)
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Kevin replies to KevinOops--I looked at my text just after I sent it and meant www.surveyclaim.com, vice www.survey.com, in the second paragraph!
- Kevin replies to KevinJust one final research note: apparently, www.domainsbyproxy.com is a service that conceals the personal info of those who register a domain through them, so I would imagine that the info in my original post belongs to them and not the folks behind this scam. Domainsbyproxy.com does, however, have a policy regarding law enforcement inquiries and criminal subpoenas, so hopefully someone with the ability to do something about this issue will have a chat with www.domainsbyproxy.com.
