I was getting calls from that number as well - after the first few times it grew to a harassing amount of times to something like every 20 minutes or less between the hours of 12 and 5 or 6 - finally I called my phone company and blocked their number from calling my phone and have not heard from them since.

I received numerous calls a week from this 1-123-456-7890.  It's the yellowbook.com wanting my company to advertise with them.  I have been telling them for over a year to take us off their list however they just keep calling several times a day.  They also call on another number which is 1-845-294-1942.  This hurts our business because they relentlessly call.

It is an Online Pharmacy.

Called but left no message.  Caller ID says "Out of Area"

I had a call from this number claiming to be my bank wanting to repay money that had been taken from my credit card by a scam !

Called again. (First call came yesterday.)  Again left no message.  Our phone number is on the Do Not Call list.  Callef ID says Out of Area.

Called asking for manager regarding debit machine ...

most unusual, a man actually asked for someone by name.  i think that the name was as fake as the number 123-456-7890 is.

If you get a call from 123-456-7890, DO NOT ANSWER IT. If you do, they have the capability of adding thousands of dollars to your phone bill. It does not matter if you have a cell phone, home phone, they will get you. They are from Saudi Arabia and do this scam through the internet. If you get one of these calls, call your local FBI office immediately.

Any call that has 123-456-7890 is someone using VOIP (voice over IP) software to conduct calls. Skype is most likely the popular software of choice.

The reason the number reads 123-456-7890 is because the computer user has either: not registered a return number OR have used a number of free calls that the software allows them to. So these people are pretty much calling from anywhere.

I know this much because I have Skype and have used the free call credit with the software to test on my cell phone and the number reads the same.

They Called my brother and the guy (he was Arab) asked for my mother, he said she wasnt home and he rudely told my brother to go suck his thing in the bathroom and how he wanted to f my mom and me (his sister) how do they know us?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? they said are names and everything. this is scary!

I received the call at 9pm Saturday night on my cell phone. But they did leave a message (This was the first time I ever got this call and it was an hour after I used a Salem Five ATM)

The voice was animated like it sounds on a GPS:
The first word was "Department" then the message started..

"Department.. hello this is a message is from Hanscom Federal Credit Union. We regret to inform you that there is some technical failure in your debit card due to billing errors and introduced a temporary blockage. In order to reactive your debit card please press 1 to be transferred to our security dept."
That was it.

Called but left no message.  Caller ID says "OUT OF AREA."

i got a txt message from them and they hacked my email and deleted everything.

This number shows up on my caller ID as coming from Ohio (which I doubt is true). They never leave a message, but I finally answered one time. A man with an unidentifiable accent (Middle Eastern, maybe?) started babbling some gibberish in very flawed English, and I interrupted him, telling him to stop calling. They called back two hours later, and I asked them if they were dense, and were unsure of the meaning of the word "don't"; I then asked him if he was familiar with the term "INS." This seemed to have disturbed him, as he hung up quickly. However, they called back again tonight, at which point I told them they were calling the phone of a ten year old girl (not true, but, hey, they want to waste my time, I'm gonna have some fun), and would they like a visit from the police for harassing her? Again, quick hang up. I think the next time they call, I'll answer the phone, "Hello, Department of Homeland Security."

It's a debt collection scam. And all their threats are false and illegal.

This is a very active group of scammers, many of whom are calling from India (and probably other countries) and are in cahoots with a group of American pay day loan scammers. They attempt to extort money from consumers with a myriad of false and illegal threats, and alternately pose as debt collectors, federal and state law enforcement officers, lawyers and bankers. Their trademark is to use meaningless legalese gobblygook phrases like "We are downloading warrants against you" or "We are filing an affidavit against you." Another trademark phrase is to threaten the consumer with something like this ridiculous phrase: "If you don't pay then only God can help you."

Typical of many financial scams of this variety, they usually demand payment via Western Union or MoneyGram or credit card. They use any number of phony names such as US National Bank, Federal Investigation Bureau, US Legal Investigation Bureau, Hopkins Law Office, United Legal Processing, Morgan Associates, United Pay Services, National Processing, White Collar Crime Unit and many more.  These criminals also use many phone numbers from many area codes; they're probably using caller-id spoofing software and/or VoIP to disguise their real location.

The main thing to remember is that anytime someone calls you demanding money to prevent your arrest, or demanding your lawyer's name so they can sue you, it is ALWAYS a scam. No debt collector (let alone criminals posing as debt collectors) has the authority to have anyone arrested for anything. (And it's illegal to them to threaten such a thing.) And since these foreign dirtbags routinely impersonate law enforcement, it's also important to remember that American law enforcement officers aren't in the business of debt collection.  (Debt is a civil, not a criminal, matter.)

The bottom line is, these are criminals trying to steal your money.

A consumer posting a complaint about these same scammers at https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-718-831-7157 notes that 718-831-7157 is associated with an India-based "outsourcing" telephone bank.  Though a reverse search on WhitePages.com shows that 718-831-7157 is an unlisted land line in New York City, information on Debtbuyers.Com shows that that number is used by India-based Intellisourze. This is another piece of the puzzle that fits in perfectly with other information about this scam. There are some reports on 800Notes that have suggested that the crooks behind this offshore scam are also the crooks behind the notorious Bass/Ellis Crosby & Assoc./States Predisposition scams in Florida and Georgia. The interesting thing is that the number of complaints on here about the US National Bank/US Legal Investigation/Federal Investigation scam skyrocketed *after* April 7, 2008 when Florida obtained a $1.3 million judgment against Ted Ellis Crosby, shutdown his operations and barred him from ever conducting debt collections in Florida (Read http://myfloridalegal.com/newsrel.nsf/newsrel ... 5257424005858A6 ) There's certainly a good chance that the crooks placing these calls from India are doing so on behalf of the American crooks behind the Crosby/Bass/States Predisposition scams.

Got a call saying my "credit card/debit card has been put on hold at Cattaraugus County Bank" (Western NY).  Please press "1" to continue.  I pressed "1" said to enter my debit card number, made up one hit enter read the number back to me, then it said ti was invalid, so I tried again.  I wanted to get someone on the phone.  Pressing "0" does nothing.

I keep getting calls from 1-123-456-7890. It's people with indian accents trying to sell me Bell Mobility services. I don't deal with Bell at all (and never will!). When I press them for specifics on the company they are calling from, they hang up. Oh, yeah... that sounds legitimate doesn't it!!

This is illegal, as in Canada you can't telemarket people who are on the Do Not Call list. I reported them to the CRTC. It's probably pretty hard to trace an obviously faked phone number, and they are probably out of Canada. I suggest others report them too and put these modderfukers out of business.
