I got a phone call from this number with some background noise going on, and when she started speaking she said she was with the United States Federal Government and that I had been cleared for a $9,000 grant that I would never have to pay back and never have to pay taxes on.  I told her, "It sounds like a scam to me."  They hung up immediately.

This is exactly what they said to me.  Unfortunately the lady (who I could barely understand) hung up on me before I could tell her to beat it!!!

I just got a call from 202-000-1111

says Government grant department sees me as a good citizen and want to pay me $9000,

which I am not supposed to use on gambling,

liquor or any thing bad, I have to use the money wisely.

The deposit would come into my bank account, or through money gram, or with credit card.

I think he was reading from a script, one word at a time,  and spoke with an accent, south America, may be.

Gave me some ID number, wanted to know my age.

I knew it is a scam, so did not answer anything he wanted.

I told him, I would do my research first.

I think FBI should know about this SCAM, prank call. He asked me to call back on 646-583-1886, and gave me an ID number.

Grant scam

They are so pathetic. If they want to run a scam atleast use people with proper english that everyone can understand. Once you ask questions that are common sense they start saying they don't understand what you're saying.
Been called plenty of times, it's funny how they raise the amount with each call. 7000, 8400, 9000 dollars, like really bro?

This is a scam. Please do not respond to this call. Apparently the US Govt wanted information regarding my taxes. Due to my disability and age I am not required to pay taxes ,

They called me too, but they wouldn't talk. Why won't the government do anything about these scammers? This is happening to me a lot. Sometimes they block the number they're calling from.

Just got a call from (202)000-1111  identifying as the "Government Grants Department"
I think it's important to make it clear not keep my number.  I've just been ignore it and they keep calling.  This time I told them.
They seem to have a bunch of numbers, and lots of diversity, which means they are probably organized distributedly, online, and not just one office.

I just got this call at 11:05 AM Arizona Time, telling me the money from some place. It is so junk.

Don't tell them any thing! Blame them not to call again!

Caller said I was eligible for $9000 grant.  I then asked to be taken off their call list permanently.  She then asked why as I hung up.

This is a scam.  I just received one, and claim that I was selected for $9,000 from government , but I own tax on it.  I have to pay the tax first.

Why can't these calls be stopped somehow.  So irritating and intrusive

When I answer, no one says anything and in a few minutes, they hang up.  I tried calling the number back and of course, I couldn't get through.  I should have looked at my caller Id..  These are all scam calls.

They've called my cousin twice from this number. They're from the treasury department, he "won" money, and told him to call another number (202-738-1532) to give someone else his info. I already know what that meant: SCAM.

Just received this call..  Ignorant people have nothing else to do..   This guy sounded Latino and was asking me for my name..  I asked him who do u want to talk to?  And he said Well, who did I call?  (with an attitude.     Seriously,  I don't have time for stupid games so I just hung up..

Spam call from a telemarketer with a BS story about something coming from the government. I hung up after 10 seconds. This number needs to be shut down!
