- JimThese folks have been besieging my 84-year-old mother for the last year or so. Always asking my Kenneth Bruce ( a phony name I am sure). I have turned this over to every enforcement agency I can and no one has done anything about it. Blocking the number does not work. Is there anyone on this forum who has stopped these lowlifes. I would love to hear how it was done.
- Caller: No record on ID
- Thomas RA heavy Middle Eastern Voice stated that President Obama has made it possible for me to receive $7,000.00 dollar grant money and not have to pay it back. When I interrupted him and asked how this was possible, he hung up. It is a scam. I wouldn't believe a bill collector who calls. Even if I owed money. I would ask the caller the name of his company and then the name of the company he has acquired the debt from and then I would call the company of the original debt and check it out.

- Tammy replies to ShannonI received the same call on yesterday and I call the number today and it not working.
- KateGot this number claiming to be calling from Washington D.C.. They also claimed to be the federal treasury department and offering me a grant of $7000 because I was such a responsible citizen. They provided me with a call back number and a confirmation code. Of course this is a scam! The Feds don't call at all. Certainly not on a Sat morning. How stupid do they think Americans are? But there must be a lot of stupid out there if there is money to be made.
- tahirihI just got a call from this number on a Saturday afternoon of all times! Guy asked for me by first name only. I started to ask who he was and who he works for when call disconnected. Tried to call back but call never goes through.

- okforcrooks replies to RexIRS| 2 repliesA very good message you wrote...if only anything WE do could do any good. I'm so tired of being a pawn, to these people, to politicians, to every scammer........The only thing that's good is this forum so at least we know when to block calls and who they are, it just gripes me that we have to be helpless to this crap!
- Sharon| 2 repliesI received the call today, same as everyone else, man with middle eastern accent claiming to be from government saying that $7000 was being given by the IRS. After I told him twice that it was a scam, he hung up. I don't give personal info over the phone, and I am not an idiot.

- RexIRS replies to okforcrooks| 1 replyGlad you consider this useful. You may be interested to know that the US Senate addressed this very IRS scam in a committee hearing in March 2015 (you can watch a recording at http://www.c-span.org/video/?324730-1/hearing-tax-scam-protection ). Media coverage, victims' reports to TIGTA and a flood of letters to Senators seem to have woken the beast. First arrests have been made. Sometimes, collective action is the best.
