I received a call from this number and when I stated that the government does not make phone calls, it sends letters, they hung up.

Received 2 calls from "DEPT OF TREASUR 202-622-2000" according to caller ID on 5-11-15.  Calls came - one in the AM and one at 6:50 PM.  Since I was at work in the AM and at church in the PM, I was not home for either call.   I Googled the # to see what others had to say about the #.  So far they have not called again on 5/12; however if I am home when they call, I plan to answer with: "the name of Our County Sheriff's Dept. and ask how I may direct their call.  Depending on what they say, I would tell them we have had numerous reports of calls from this # trying to get personal info and/or threats of police action and we have directed people to forward their # to the Sheriff's Dept. for proper handling, stating that if it is a legitimate call, the dept. can forward the call to a cell phone # and see what they would come up faced with that information!!!  Two can play this game!!  Could be very fun and interesting!!!!

A call from the US Dept of Treasury? I answered even though it was 7pm. What government employee was calling me so late?  They asked for "Hello, Gary?"  My phone # belonged to someone named Gary seven years ago.  I told the nice Government employee that and then asked "Do you want Gary's cell phone #? I keep it on hand because I have received several calls for Gary from his bill collectors. The nice government employee said "NO".   Interesting . So I told him"Do not call this number again."  I'll cross my fingers that these scammers will stop calling.

Just received the same call as everyone else... Of course when I answered I told them I was not home at the moment... Lol because I have received numerous calls like this before. So I asked if I could please take a message and he proceeded to say uh... Uh... Uh... Well do you know where she is right now in his thick accent and I told him no and he said why not. Then he asked well when will she be back? I stated I did not know... And he said well fine I will call her back later from the same number. I just laughed and said ok so he hung up on me... It is very sad that these people get away with harassing and frauding individuals.

As others have said, the IRS will NOT call you to collect back taxes.  I got a call one time and called them back and asked for the "agent's" badge number which IRS agents have.  He hung up on me.

I got call they were the id said Dept Treasury and I was going to get $7,000 told them I knew it was a scam and hung up.

I just got a call from this number.  Apu said I was going to be given a $7000 grant and said you probably want to know why you received the grant.   I told him I did not appreciate his Scam and to never call again.   Thanks to sites like this, I was able to truly identify these idiots for what they are.  Idiots and scammers.

Got a phone call from this number today guy with a strong indian accent asked for my daughter but pronounced her name wrong said that she won a grant of $7000 that this was definitely a congratulations call, when I told him they where a scam, he also started laughing. He said he was from the us treasury and gave some phony code. I took down the number he told me to have her call and give the conformation code, I had no intention to call back I was on google the whole time. The only verification he asked was our zip code, which I gave, I didn't think that would be to harmful. I called back the number he called from on my caller ID, which wasn't the number he wanted us to call back to. I had googled the number and it said it was the us treasury department contact phone  number. When I called, it was the US Treasury phone number but the office was closed. I don't know how they where able to call using the us treasury phone number but the number they wanted us to call back on was definitely a scam according to the google searches I did. So I would beware if you get one of these calls and tell you young adult children to beware.

I asked them if they were an official US Treasury employee and with a very heavy middle Eastern accent gave me a response that he was US Treasury group. I told him he was a fraud and to take me off his call list. His reply was "F..k U" and hung up. Luckily I have an app to block them.

DC, USA called me telling me about a money grant that I qualified for and gave me this number (206) 855-3095
WA, USA, which this person told me I qualified for a 7000 dollar grant. All I had to do to receive it is to give them 250 dollars to avoid being taxed. This is a scam and I'm wondering how they had so much information about me.

Phone rang and when I answered there was a short pause...then I realize it is probably computer generated.  Woman's voice with Indian / Pakistani type accent asks for my husband byname (first and last)  I say 'he's not here' and hung up. Very annoying and without a doubt a scam of some sort but I didn't talk long enough to find out

Get calls for this all the time. But today a very nasty woman asked for my (elderly) mother. I asked "what do you want" and the woman snapped back "what do you want" and hung up. Also, when I answered the phone it rang and connected to this person so it was obviously an automatic dialer.

I called the number back it states that it is the Dept of Treasury in Washington D.C. and then goes to to say if you are returning a call from someone that stated they are calling about an IRS matter please be advised that the U.S. Treasury does not contact individuals by phone regarding their IRS returns.  And tells you to go to their website at a .gov address.

these idiots called me after the hours that the recorded hours stated. it was slightly accented female / caller the caller id said us dept of treasury there was too much background noise in the background to hear a spiel. plus she hung up when i kept saying hello hello can't hear you.

Says from the US treasury. The US government would never call a person regarding taxes aand get my name wrong.

had gotten a call from that number 202-622-2000 around 3:10pm est and said they from the gov aka irs from DC and said something about money and about if i ask for it or not. i told them NO in a loud voice duo to i can hear alot of noise in the backround and also i could even hear my voice being ecro as well when I had talk to them, but meantime seem like they keep trying to get me to say something else beside NO. I told them to STOP lying and that they not from DC or from the IRS and if they continue to call that I was going to really make sure the real feds and the irs take care of them. Then I hang up on them and decide to look up the number to see a nice long list of others with about the same issue like I went there a few moments ago. Also I should said I had decide to call that number back few moments after I hang up on them and said some bs crap about there website about think was irs or something. I don't believe it was the real irs cause usually irs do NOT call and offer you money at all. Most times they would be on you if you the one own them money not the other way around. Specially from what i hear on the news about the irs system had been hack into but irs had fix the issue of it already. Anyway it was a good thing that I didnt say anything else to them but for NO lol.
