- DonI answered it & it's a robo-call. Caller ID doesn't show a name just the phone number
- Caller: Don't know
- G replies to SmittyI don't know why people keep saying that the DNC is either a joke or does not work. Guess what it does work for LEGIT BUSINESSES. The people that call in violation of the DNC don't care about the DNC, their crooks out to steal your hard earned money.
- RCK replies to SmittyYou need to understand how the DO NOT CALL LIST works. Legit companies are supposed to download the phone numbers of those that want to be on the DNC list and remove those numbers from their system's call list. The people that are calling all of us don't adhere to the rules of the DNC because they are scammers. Most of the time, the number that shows on your Caller ID (if any) is most likely not even the number they're calling from. If you ever tried to call that number back to cuss them out, it's most likely a non-working number, or programmed not to receive calls. Don't blame the DNC list, because without it, you'd probably receive a boatload more calls, but from legit companies that want to sell you something.

- Dawn replies to Smarter Than The Thieving ScammersReally? Good luck with that. I'm not sure where your theory comes from but you're far off base.

- honeybee replies to SmittyI agree..........it's a BIG joke!!!
- LolaWe got a hang up from this number on Tues 10/27/2015 @ 2:00 PM. We are sure there will be more.
- kellycWe still believe these anal types got this number through a local pain management "doctor" my grandma went to who sold them her number along with others. Beware and be warned: Her doctor, who is highly respected, recommended him to her and even set up the appointment. The moral: Even highly respected doctors are still human and so they can be deceived just like the rest of us.
Anyway, here's how the DNC list works, in short:
1) You get tired of these calls & add your information.
2) Legit companies have enough respect and realize they are wasting their time calling you. They download the list and remove your number from their list.
3) These anal types that are not legit don't know what respect even is nor do they have any intention of following the law (most of the time they don't have to because they aren't even in this country, but even if they were they don't care about the law) so they download the list and say, "AHA! Here, a free list of working numbers! We don't have to pay no stinkin' $300 to get 1000 numbers (or whatever the going rate is these days) and (cue maniacal laughter) they don't want us calling anyway! We'll get them!" So they only call more.
I wonder just how many people are falling for a back brace they didn't order and didn't want that it would make it worth their time to call people who are on the DNC list. There are probably/evidently many, enough to make their overhead well worth their time.
The breakdown is, the government has so much on its plate and so many bigger fish to fry that if DNC issues are on their agenda they're way, way down at the bottom, going lower when anything else comes up. Just go to Wal-Mart and get a new cordless phone that blocks these calls and USE IT! Our VTech ran about $30, blocks 20 calls, and has 2 handsets. It also makes a speakerphone. It doesn't have an embedded answering machine which we DO NOT want for this and similar reasons so it's all good.- Caller: Shady "Back Brace" anal types

- Telemarketers Nightmare replies to REALLY?I reported every call that was a telemarketer for several years. I reported some companies more than a dozen times and well over 100 companies. Never did I see any of these companies get the fines they were supposed to.
Back when the DNC first in use, most of the telemarketers ignored, or didn't know about the Do Not Call system.
Then they started getting phone numbers by other means. They would use surveys, contest, raffles, etc. The fine print would use wording like, "Xyz Corp. is affiliated with us and by entering your information entitled any of our affiliates to contact you.
Then it was nearly impossible to give the telemarketers what they deserved. A big fine.
So, right from the start the government never really did what they promised. The DNC is a useless bit of legislation that gets federal funding. Just another waste of taxpayers money doing nothing for us. - Telemarketers Nightmare replies to REALLY?The DNC is a waste of taxpayer dollars. Has anyone here ever gotten a check from the companies that you have reported to the DNC?
I never have and I have reported many many many different companies several times.
