I get a call from this number at least 4 times a week. They never say anything just hold the line and then hang up. I am thinking of doing the Sheriff's Department thing that the other guy tried.

I too just got this one.I have had a few days ago answered at first couple rings and got the police charity thing.I didn't allow them to finish as I did not like being disturbed,and just said No thanks,please don't call again.They just said OK sorry,or the like.I'm not on the no call list,because it can be gotten around and still get calls.I am unlisted and pay extra for "privacy".They hang up when you answer so they put you on a different list for ##'s that are real.They can give them to dozens of people to call.The no call list does NOT apply to certain charities like police depts.,etc. so being on the list seems futile.It's just luck to get any peace these days.They auto-dial your number randomly,like 111-111-1111,111-111-1112,etc. until they get an answer then they bump you to a human dialer for the attack.MMMUUUHHHHAAHAAHA,lol.sorry got a bit dramatic there.

this number has been calling me i answer they hang up and the same when the answering machine picks up

get calls serval times a week from this number they hang up when i answer and they hang up when the answering machine answers. i have called the number back and it says that the number can not be reached by this phone.

Been getting calls from this number (I'm in North Georgia) for months. Same behavior others have complained about. I never really thought to try a reverse search until today. However I do work for a telephone company and tomorrow I will take steps to report this number as harrassing and see what can be done.

Caller from 205-313-0897 hung up on answering machine...more than once I believe.  Googled the number because we are waiting for some long distance calls and wanted to see who/where this was from.

Caller ID is unknown.  Based on previous reportings, obviously some kind of sham.

Yep a hang-up call. All that showed on the ID was UNKNOWN and the #, I am also in GA

This # called me but hung up before I could answer.  I called back and it said the same thing about not being able to call from the special number.  I wonder if they are trying to case houses?  Checking to see when people are home?  I checked my caller id and that is the first time they have called.  I am in LaGrange

I have been receiving numereous call from 205-313-0897.  I do not answer phone calls from unknown telephone numbers.  I live in southeast Georgia.

Received call saying he was a relative that had gotten my name from someone else.  That he was dying from cancer and wanted to leave his possessions to a family member rather than the govt getting them.  I am the only family member he could find. He said he had 30 acres of land near Savannah, Ga. and some in Brunswick, Ga.  I told him I was sorry but didn't know him.  He said he understood and hung up on me.  Sure sounds like the classic scam to me.

I've been called by this # numerous times. I googled it a while back and found this site and read all the posts. I've actually been "waiting" on them to call back. They did today. He asked for me by name. I told him he wasn't here. He wanted to know if I was the man of the house. I told him I was today, that I was taking care of "business" while the husband is gone...he got silent, then asked for my wife's name. I told him she was "busy" at the moment. I asked what he wanted and he said he was calling for the paramedics. I told him that nobody in this house needed an ambulance, but he might if I ever found out who he was. He said he was talking about donations. I told him he wasn't even local, why should we donate money? He said it benefited ALL of GA. I proceeded to call him every name in the book and insulted his mother....numerous times, and hung up on him. We'll see if they call back.

My wife received a call from 205-313-0897 on 10/07/2007 at 7:47pm.  Did not answer the call.  The next time was on 10/16/2007 at 5:50pm.  Wife answered the caller identified himself as "Officer Nichols with the Warner Robins Police Department."  Wife assumed it was another scam for solicitation of money for "bullet proof vests."  She told him we were not donating.  He
proceeded to tell her I had a warrant out for my arrest.  She asked what it was in reference to.  He said he couldn't discuss that with her.  Asked for my cell phone number.  She said I would be home in twenty minutes and he insisted he wanted my cell phone number.  She said we would be happy to come down to the precinct.  He insisted he did not need to speak with both of us, just me.  She said she did not believe him.  He quoted our address and phone number and said, “Does that convince you?”  She said, “No, not really.”  He said a car would be at our house in 15 minutes and hung up.  I called the police department and they said they had no officer by that name and no such warrant out on me.  The call originated in Alabama.

Also received calls from this number 3 & 4 Apr 2007, and a few times in early May.  Tried calling back, and got same message as Dave above "cannot call this number back from this special phone"  (Interesting, huh?).  Got another call in Sep timeframe, and a man identified himself as being from the Birmingham Fraternal Order of Police, or something similar, and asked me for a donation to help the families of police officers who died in the line of duty, or had medical bills, etc.  I told him I was sorry, that I couldn't help since I'd donated to several charities lately.  I told them to call back next year; however, since then I'm fairly certain I was the target of a phone scam to steal my identity, so my motto is DON'T DONATE OVER THE PHONE!!!  AND, DON'T SUBSCRIBE TO SERVICES (VIA CHECK OR CREDIT CARD) THAT YOU DIDN'T INITIATE ON YOUR OWN.  You don't know who you're dealing with (no face or proof).  It's like wiring all your money over to those greedy, scumbag African scammers, who are operating mainly out of Accra, Ghana, at the present, trying to steal all of our American dollars!  Same principle....you are giving it to someone here that you don't know.  What's more, if you are not the one initiating the call to donate, then you don't know whether you're giving your identity to some identity thief, and a lot of these scams are directly associated to terrorism activities, providing funding for their operations against us.  BEWARE EVERYBODY AND LET'S GET THE WORD OUT.  IF A CHARITY IS LEGIT, MAYBE IT'S TIME  MORE STRINGENT LAWS AND CONTROLS WERE PUT UPON THEM FOR THEIR SOLICITATIONS.

Also received a call this evening from the same number and my wife answered.  The caller asked for me by a middle name that I go by but do not use on any records, sign on any receipts, or use in any openly public way other than with people I directly know. This call didn't solicit any money but the caller identified that he was calling to confirm delivery tomorrow of "shower curtain rings".  My wife identified that she didn't know anything about it stating it must be someone else.  The caller then quoted our address to which my wife stated again that she did not know anything about it.  The caller stated that he hoped he had not "ruined any surprise" apologized, and hung up. I too wonder now if they are either casing houses or if they are some sort of identity/credit theft organization.  Fortunately there is almost always someone home at our house, and more importantly, well armed and more than capable of stopping a forcible entry.    
There has to be some way for a state or federal agency to track this number that we cannot (of course we got the same message on call-back).  I wanted to make this post though, as we were not solicited for money and as such wonder about the motive behind the call.  If anyone has any information on who to call to find these scammers, please post.

I also just got a call from 205-313-0897 & they hung up when I answered. I did a reverse look up on Super Pages & it comes up as a land line based in Birmingham, Alabama & the registered service provider is US Lec Communications & that any detailed listing information is unavailable. I'm in northeast Georgia.
