Some male called from this number and asked to speak to my wife by her first name and I politely asked who was calling and they he hung up.

Here's what you do folks. There are several programs available on the internet (I use one called Audio CallerID) that use your modem to receive caller ID info from incoming calls. If your computer is on this program will log the ID and time of the call. You can tell the program to "block calls" from any number you want. Afetr I get one of these calls I click on the number in this program and then click "block call". Next time a call with that ID comes in the PC picks up the line and starts a fax or modem sound. A lot of these autodialers will note this as a non-valid number and will drop your number from their list.

205-313-0897 Repeatedly get this phone number on caller id as Birmingham, AL. I never pick it up. I googled the number and found this page. Just wanted to post that I am getting a ton of calls. It is so annoying.

I have rec'd calls from (205)313-0897 on several occasions and they are usually at night.  the area code is birmingham, AL, and i don't know anyone from there.

We get constant calls from this number, and everytime we answer they hang up.  When we call the number back we get a recording that says we cannot call the number back.  So, let me get this straight, we can be called all the time and hung up on but the caller cannot be reached.

They just called and hung up on my answering machine. We are on the Do Not Call list. Located in Griffin, GA. Looks like these people are harassing lots of us.

I just got a call from this same number with the same message.  Has anyone determined who this is?

I get the same call at least twice  a week.  It is from a residential number in AL.  It is soooo annoying!!!

You people are just another scam!!! If you were legitimate you wouldn't need to hide your location would you? I am very against you or any other organization like yours and I will never donate again. A police officer, paramedics or any other civil servant should have a good idea of what kind of salary they will be earning when they decide to go into that profession. That is the very reason I didn't and don't need the assistance of a third party that does nothing but take half or more of the donations that unsuspecting people give. Wait.. here's a suggestion... why don't the cops have a car wash or something? That's what we always did in high school when we needed to raise money. Then they wouldn't need you and they could keep all the money to "feed" their children and families. You know... you might be able to call my house even though I'm on the do not call list, but one thing is for sure, I can also block your call!! So here is the message from someone who knows a little something about technology... quit your job now and save your money because T-1 lines can also be taken down just as they are put up......

I just received a call from this number in Southeast GA. They left no voicemail and it's the first time this specific number has called. Probably a debt collector for sub-prime credit card defaults.

same number calls frequently... can something be done about it?

Calls come off and on at different times of day or night and they leave no message.  My husband answered once and the caller hung up.  Reading all the other posted notes, this is a bit scarey!

Same experience as those reporting below.... we're in NW GA also.
But. we received semore than one call between 4-5 AM!  That's nasty!
Will be pursuing legal means to prevent reocurrance!
NO CALLER ID & *69 does NOT work directly, but did get the number
Dialing directly says we've "...dialed a number that can not be reached from this 'SPECIAL PHONE'" - however neither land lines nor cells can get thru.  
Just got another two calls while researching this at 5:20 AM...& answering Sherrif's Dept doesn't help - there's no person on the other end... it must be an 'auto dialer'.... Will be getting a block for it on our line via phone company... this is HARASSMENT!

They are calling trying to solicit donations for the "Sheriff whatever fund" every year its a different slogan, don't drink and drive, etc. I think they send out a bumper sticker for your $30...

They don't have to adher to the DO NOT CALL and it's legal. The system
calls a number and people at the same time and they talk to the first
person who picks up the phone.
I called Darrell Baker at the Alabama Public Service Commission in Montgomery to report this and he called Birmingham and got the
information. Hope this clears up the questions........doesn't stop
the irritating calls though. Sorry.

They called us today at 7:04 Pm and was very annoying. They said they were for Georgia Police and wanted donations so I answer "excuse me it is my birthday (which it really is) and I am cooking dinner." So they said 'Ok' and hung up. I looked at the caller id and it said Alabama, yet they said they were for the Georgia Police.

how do we find out who this is
