Just got a call from 205-396-3619. Said his name was Justin/Dustin...thanked me for taking his call.  Then procedded to say he was calling from some Recovery.....I hung up.

Gunnar's post is correct, however, also be aware that if your SOL is past, they will try to get you to admit that the debt was yours and/or get you to make even a small payment.  If you make that admission or a payment of any kind then the SOL can and usually will start over again.  As Gunnar says, be safe and be aware. . . know your rights and the law when it comes to SOL and do not be trapped by these crooked operators.

they call everyday, several times a day, including Sundays and holidays

Has called twice.  Left no message.  Called from different numbers both area code and exchange.

I do not answer unknown numbers.  Someone called last night at 5:16 PM and my answering machine picked it up.  The caller ID said Portfolio Recovery.  Portfolio Recovery has also called us from 602-635-389 on 11/04/15 at 8:53 PM and again from 678-265-3904 on 12/03/15 at 4:54 PM and again at 8:10 PM.

I looked up this Portfolio Recovery on the web and found it belongs to a debt collector - http://www.portfoliorecovery.com.  The website claims “Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC are here to help you pay your debt.  Call 800.772.1413 to speak with an Account Representative…”  Since I don’t have any current or past-due debts my guess is they are trying to SCAM money out of me.  My phone number is registered on the national Do Not Call List but since this is a debt collection company they are allowed to call you and reporting them has no result …”   Since I don’t have any current or past-due debts my guess is they are trying to SCAM money out of me.  My phone number is registered on the national Do Not Call List but since this is a debt collection company they are allowed to call you and reporting them has no result.

Don't know why they are calling, says it's a personal matter!!! I have NO debts!!!  Geez!!!

Just received a call from this number so they are still at it.  That's been 1 1/2 years on the same number.

I just block the a$$holes. I block every new number they throw at me. I can block thousands and will if I need to. That's enough fun for me.... :) (Very satisfying) If everyone did 'just that' they'd go out of business. Of course, then they'd just change their name and start over but if everyone STILL blocked every scamming a$$hole then they'd REALLY go out of business and have to buy a honey wagon to pump out septic tanks. At least it would be honest work and a step up from what they do now..... :)

The problem with that is that you have lost part of your rights and opportunities as a phone number owner. What if your long lost aunt Bess passes away and you're in the will to inherit those oil and mineral rights in Oklahoma that they're drilling all those new wells on? All they have is a phone number on you. You're just $hit outa luck, that's what and you won't even know what you missed until years later on your death bed when cousin Jug thanks you for your incredible generosity but asks why you let all of your oil rights pass on to him and his whole buck-toothed family of now fat, rich and happy misfits?
