Belongs to Portfolio Recovery Services of VA.  These scumbags specialize in collecting on 10-15 yr old debts that are well beyond the any Statue Of Limitations.  They will also report these old debts to the credit bureaus, so beware.

Portfolio has another new number. I think they went out and added some new ones....this is the 2nd new number I have had from them in the last week. Know the Fair Debt Collections Act. Portfolio is trying to collect on accounts that has passed the Statue of Limitations. You owe them nothing. They cannot sue you, affect your credit rating, garnish your wages. Nothing. But beware. If you make one payment or a promise to pay, no matter how small, the Statue of Limitations is erased and you are fuked.

Yup -- another Portfolio Recovery number. I program my phone not to ring when [***] like them call.

Losers have nothing better to do. Whenever they call me I ignore the call and then I will call them back and hang up or tell them I guess I have the wrong number or something like that. I try to have a little fun with it

They will try to maipulate you into paying "something" and if you do, ypu will always be paying.  They have a knack for utilizing different ph #'s so the best thing to do once they start calling your phone is to screen each call and place it in "memory" assigned to these jerks.

ah - Portfolio Recovery R Us -- thanks to all the posters.  This is indeed a new number for the scuzzies.  I have a list of about 10 for them -- including local and long distance and 800 ones.  Sheeeee.  Call on cell phone - do not EVER take unknown numbers.  And OF COURSE they do not leave any message.  Am sure they have also called my home phone -- which is unlisted, unpublished etc etc.  Whatever it is they are trying to collect was discharged in bankruptcy long time ago.  Long past TX statute of limitations.

This company has been calling my phone for years. I has no less than 20 numbers.
I never directly answer calls from a number I don't know. Once I identify them I
save with a silent ring and they never bother me again.

They call at all hours.

So sick of these people calling my home.  They call non stop early in the morning and late at night.  They have been asked repeatedly not to call because there is no validity to their debt claims.

Received a call on my cell from 205-588-8181. Didn't recognize the area code so let it go to voice mail. No message was left.

The last time I reported Portfolio Recovery Associates the calls stopped for about 1 month. It's not perfect, but better than them continually calling.
I have perfect credit and do not owe anyone anything; so does my spouse.

I have fun when they call here. Usually it's a woman with a thick spanish accent, and I confuse the heck out of her by asking personal questions like what color and size her undergarments are, and if she would be interested in having a three-way with me and my wife. They are calling about a 15 year old health club membership that I never renewed.

This number calls me twice a day and they never leavea  message.. Isnt there a law!!

I never answer a number I do not recognize nor call it back, if it is important or a freind they will leave a message. I then look up the number and see what I can find out and even if I find out nothing I enter it on my cell phone as "Ccalldontanswer" then add 1, 2 etc behind it

If you do answer by accident never say the word yes or any other affirmative word they can and will manipulate the recorded conversation to use that word against you Even if they as "Is this Joe Smith" ask who they are and why they are calling, they will again ask for "Joe Smith" just say "You called this number identify yourself and your cpompany now or this call will be terminated_ better yet just hang up but try to avoid answering in the call in the 1st place as once they know a live person will at times answer they will call you from all sorts of numbers to try to trip you up

Portfolio Recovery Associates, of Norfolk, VA is a purchaser/seller/collector/ of junk debts purchased in portfolios for pennies on the dollar. Upon purchase, these debts are inflated to where they attempt to collect on them from consumers at very high profit margins.

They are bottom feeders that buy OLD debts, most often paid off or written off by the original lenders.  They make thier money off of people not knowing the law because 99.99% of the time the debt is past its staute of limitations.

Make sure you check what those limits are as they vary state by state. Also note, if you pay them even a penny, that statute of limitation is null and void and the debt becomes good again!! hence DO NOT PAY THEM ONE RED CENT!!! I am in the process of finding out how I can stop them from calling, but at this time all I can say is that the debts they say you have have been written off already, if not paid off!!!
