    Try This tactic...If you have one of those new Smart Phones...Take their numbers and forward them to either of the following:

    911;
    or choose a police station desk seargent and let thempiss him/her off;
    or choose of of their numbers to call themselves back.

    It worked for me when the police called me and ask me ifI wanted to file a complaint.

    Here are even more numbers that I have received calls from that I didn't see listed in this site:
    866-240-7530
    800-860-0644
    800-772-1413
    800-814-6580
    757-9613548
    877-698-6905
    805-210-3122

    My trick with this situation is to forward these specific numbers (my phone company only allows up to 12 individual numbers to be forwarded to a different number so I have to rotate the list every once in a while) to a phone number I had a few years ago. It is still NOT IN SERVICE (I check it evey once in a while to be sure it hasn't been assigned to anyone). When these idiots call using one of the 12 numbers, they receive just the NIS recording. It doesn't say the number that is NIS so they think for a little while that my phone is disconnected. It's working so far and the calls have dropped off considerably since I started doing this.

    PRA callers are a bunch of people that have been hired to do their, PRA's dirty work {harassing calls} because this is the only job available in their market. Feel sorry for the people that have to make these calls because they can't get legit employ in their career field. A company should hire them all away at a decent wage and put PRA out of business...      YES, the company that they work for is a bunch of A hole bottom feeders for sure and the way that they operate should be reported and terminated to a government agency!  Can we get some help here?!?!   What good is the statute of limitations if these people don't have to abide by it, it a law for a reason and their breaking the law, come on, where are the attorneys that can sue a large company and get paid, lets group, file a class action suit and put them out of business!

    ATTENTION ATTORNEYS ATTENTION ATTORNEYS-- HERE'S A FOR SURE WIN CASE FOR YOUR FIRM-  MONEY HANGING IN THE AIR.  GOTTTA BE A "HUNGRY ATTORNEY" OUT THERE SOME WHERE WANTING TO TAKE THIS ONE??!?!?

    Watch for several other no. also:  205-588-8181 is my largest problem.  Dnt even talk to them or get into paying any old debt. back, if you do the statute of limitations is null and void, and that crap will go right back on your credit.  SUCKS!!!!!

    Out smated them
    OK if you do this you will get the little weasels to stop calling.

    First answer the phone when they call..ONLY ANSWER TWICE.

    Say:  Hello

    They will ask if this is: Jane Doe:

    You say  YES...  then don’t let them get in another word…Say this

    OMG you are the one that wants me to take a picture with my phone of my breasts and want me to send back to this phone number.  YOU PERVERT I’m reporting you NOW to the POLICE.

    HANG UP

    Then hit  *57 to have the harassing call logged into your phone company.   They will call right back most of the time … Just answer the phone  don’t’ let them talk just start yelling in the phone.  .. YOU PERVERT STOP CALLING ME>> THIS IS SEXUAL HARASSMENT.  HANG UP.

    Hit *57 again so the phone company will log that call as well.

    After you scream Sexual Harassment you should not get another phone call from them… period.  If this happens the third time… with you send the *57 to the phone company they will have a record of harassment… sexual or not….it’s still harassment.  NOW call the local collections agency in the area of where Portfolio Recovery called from.  Tell them you have a collection from a private citizen to a company.   Tell them it’s for services not received and you would like to collect $3500.00 for answering service services you are owed from Portfolio Recovery.   Now you have a collections agency out after the collections agency.  They can’t turn you down without putting their business in jeopardy.   If  they collect…hey.. go have a nice dinner and drink on them..

    This will work.. you are turning the tables on these little weasels.

    For males use your own imagination... This works great...

    Enjoy..

    We had a problem 10 years ago, filed bankruptcy then, they still call however our phone service allows us to route, forward or just send whoever is calling on the blocked list a disconnect.  It certainly has cut down on the number of calls.  I like to use the "blacklisted" feature, use that on the daughters boyfriends, was using the forward and sending to the local time and temperature number for awhile, they didn't take the hint.

    Yesterday, this Portfolio Recovery Associates called on another number so I am sending a disconnect now to anyone with "recov" or "credit" in the id... if they don't send an id it blocks them too.  Love that service.

    No, but you can sue them under the FDCPA and TCPA (Do Not Call) laws for intentionally harassing a non-debtor and calling you on a cell phone, to boot:

    Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.

    Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

    This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

    David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

    [The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

    Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.

    So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

    1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
    2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
    3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

    TCPA: What Is It & How Does It Affect You?

    The Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA) does many things - including prohibiting debt collectors from calling your cell phone without your permission. Each unauthorized call could result in the debt collector paying you up to $1,500. Here's some helpful information on the Act and how it might affect you.
    What is the TCPA?

    The TCPA, which was signed into law in 1991 under the first Bush Administration and codified under 47 U.S.C. 227, prohibits calls using any automatic telephone dialing system or artificial or prerecorded voices to:

    •Emergency telephone lines
    •Telephone lines of any guest room or patient room at a hospital, health care facility, elderly home or similar establishment
    •Telephone numbers assigned to paging services, cellular telephone services, specialized mobile radio services, other radio common carrier services or any service for which the called party is charged for the call
    •Any telephone call to a residential telephone line
    •Send unauthorized faxes
    The only way that a caller won't violate the statute is if express consent has been given - and violations of the TCPA are steep. An unintentional call carries a damage amount of $500; an intentional call carries a damage amount of $1,500. That's per call and regardless of the purpose of the call. In other words, if they call you using an automated dialing system without your consent, they've violated the Act and you are entitled to damages.

    How does it affect you?

    Most debt collectors use automatic telephone dialing systems to contact debtors. You'll recognize this when you go to pick up the phone and there is a slight hesitation on the other end. In fact, most debt collectors are calling nearly 100 people at a time just waiting for someone to answer. Although many have stopped calling landlines, cell phones are another story. Since more and more people are using cell phones either instead of, or in addition to, traditional landlines, debt collectors are finding their cell phone numbers using skip tracers, calling them and hoping that they don't realize that the TCPA has been violated.

    I sometimes answer the phone and when they start their crap dialog I tell them that I have under present law to tell them I am recording their call and will they please start again and tell me their name, telephone number, their address and their license number to enable them to collect debts in my state. They always ring off. I do not believe that these people are licensed to collect debts that are past 6 years old. They are just cheap scumbags and people who cannot earn a living in an honest and truthful manner; they lie and try to cheat with wrong and unverifiable information.  May they all rot in hell. I have a list on my phone of numbers that I will not answer. Report them to the FCC.
