I got the same message from Barry Johnson, but I guess he just left out the ok's with me. Very happy to see all the poasting showing how this is a SCAAAMM because we all received the same e-mail.

I got the same damn email today about my VW Super beetle I am trying to sell. They only problem is I was tired at the time of getting it and it didn't seem like a scam to me as there are things wrong with the car I am selling and just figured he lived out of state. (Also it was my first time of trying to sell something on line. And guess what I was DUMB and I gave him all the info. So now what do I do? I am really freaking out now as I didn't think it was a scam! Anyone know what I do know? Someone please tell me that nothing REALLY BAD happens I have 3 kids and lost my job I can't take a scam at this time too. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

I got the same email yesterday and like your daughter I gave the guy my info that he asked for. I am now freaking out and dont know what to do. Did you get any info on how to fix this situation? If you did can you let me know please so I too can fix my own. From reading other past posts as long as I do not do ANYTHING with said check he is going to send me everything should be fine? But I have 3 kids and we DO NOT need this too.

This is another e-mail address this guy is using. Hope this helps everyone else too.

I got a response from Craigslist for my car ad from "Kaine Cosden" at kainecosdenm329@yahoo.com (one of the aliases listed in this thread) asking if I would take a lower price. Looks like he's changing his M.O. by asking questions first. I'm sure the calls will come later.

Messaged craiglist just now. Hoping they get back to me with what to do.

Nothing bad will happen as long as you haven't deposited the cashier's check he sends you. This is a version of the overpayment scam http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt014.shtm where something may be an item you have for sale or a service you perform and the overpayment may be a fake cashier's check, a stolen credit/debit card, or stolen electronic funds into your bank account, and you have to cash/withdraw the excess amount and Western Union it to the scammer or his accomplice (movers, shipping agent, 3rd-party in another state, etc.). The overpayment they send you is fake, the excess amount you wire them is your own real money. You will be held financially responsible for the cash you wire them and may be prosecuted for passing a bad check or money laundering. If you give your bank account info, the scammers can empty it. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. I guess he finally realized it was misspelled b/c he changed it to Agent.

Got another e-mail from the guy today about the car I am selling. Here is what he says in it. Notice he uses a new number.
