But the one time I did get an answer, a man with a foreign accent said something and when I asked "What business is this?" he hung up on me.

- SocratesI called this number anonymously using outbound Caller ID blocking--and, got a busy signal. This is likely a phone number harvesting scam; such scams use intimidation, scare tactics, lies, etc., to get people to call them back. If someone calls them back without anonymity (their phone number is masked), then their active phone number is recorded to a database that is sold on the global telescammer market.
- Caller: Telescabs, Inc.
- Vicki ElletsonReceived a voice mail from this number, indicating it is from IRS.

- hookmissed call, voice mail was robo recording saying this was my final notice from the irs and they are filing a lawsuit. i did not call back as the REAL irs.gov website states (http://www.irs.gov/uac/Tax-Scams-Consumer-Alerts):
"Note that the IRS will never: 1) call to demand immediate payment, nor will the agency call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill; 2) demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe; 3) require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card; 4) ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone; or 5) threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying."- Caller: IRS

- ElizabethI got a garbled voicemail from the number (206) 462-5330, claiming that the IRS wants to file a lawsuit against me. This scam has been around for a while and is well-known, so I am reporting the incident and not calling the number back.
- SheilaNoyaI've been called several times now by these morons. It's a SCAM call coming from a spoofed number that looks like the IRS. If you answer, they demand a credit card or debit card # for "partial payment", or else they claim the IRS will sue you. If they call again and you don't answer the phone, it sends the call to a recorded message that claims it's final notice that you are being sued by the IRS. I guess they think if they call back again and you talk to them live, that you'll be worried enough to give them your credit card info. There's a warning about these fraudulent calls on the IRS web site:
