I received a voice mail this morning at 6:58 am, stating they were the IRS and they were making a final  attempt to contact me regarding back taxes that I owed.  They asked me to call them back immediately at 206-462-5330.  My cell phone showed call was from Washington.  i made a couple of call-backs, each time receiving a busy signal, but then I got through.  A woman asked me to get a pen and paper and write down the information she was going to give me.  She said her name was Debbie Garner and that her IRS Badge # was 601113.  She said my Case File # was DC304568.  She then told me they did an audit on my tax return from the years 2008 to 2012 and found errors in the calculations and that I owed them money and said I have been trying to hide from them.  I started asking her for specifics, like the amount I owed and what errors they found.  She said she could not give me any more information, but would transfer me to one of their attorneys and he would go over it with me.  She transferred me to a man with a very hard to understand accent.  He said his name was Thomas Bryant.  He told me that I owed them 5,463.00.  I started firing questions at him for more details.  He started yelling at me and was being very rude, and I asked him why he was talking to me in that manner, so he transferred me to another guy who identified himself as an attorney and said he was the supervisor over that division.  His name was Alex Watson.  I could understand him a little better, but he still had bad English.  He said if I paid him the 5,463.00 over the phone right now he would stop the police from coming to arrest me and put me in jail.  He advised that was going to happen today, unless I cooperated.  I told him I didn't have that kind of money and that my only income was social security.  He said, in that case, if I paid him 1,000.00, he would let me make payments for the remaining amount.  He then said he needed to put me on hold for a minute while he discussed this with a couple of other attorneys.  He said not to hang up; that he would be right back.  We got disconnected, so before I called him back, I decided to call my CPA that did my taxes.  He started laughing and told me it was a fraud.  He told me to google their phone number and see what comes up.  End of story!  Stupid me!  They had me going for a while, but now I know.  Needless to say, I did not call them back.

The IRS nor any other legit firm is going to call you like this.  It's a scam.  You should never call them back.  If you have any reason to think that the IRS is really calling you go to their website and call the official number they have online.  Never take someone calling you word for it.

Received a message on my answering machine stating that this call was from the IRS and that a lawsuit was being filed against me; they also said that I should call them back immediately. Listen to the others statements above - this is indeed a scam/fraud situation.

This morning, received a call from a person identifying himself as Officer Michael Austin (very broken English). He said that their was going to be an arrested for myself following an IRS audit of my 2008-2012 income taxes. He stated a lawsuit was has been filed, and they have tried to reach me by stopping by my house but not leaving any notification. He went on to say I owed over $4000 and that this was my chance to save myself from all the legal problems I am facing. I spoke to a "supervisor" who said the same and when I said that this is not the IRS and that this is a scam they hung up. So now it appears not only are we dealing with con artists, but also law enforcement impersonators.

Thanks-I submitted info on IRS website. I am also going to submit info to FTC.gov
What a bunch of scamming crapheads. I'm not positive but I think we'd receive a letter if not a certified letter if there was any suit instigated by the IRS.
    Thanks for your help.
