The weirdest thing - can anyone explain this?  The number called my cell and I missed the call but a minute later the same number called my work line (People who call my work line do NOT know my cell unless it's a family member).  So I thought it must be for me, someone I know.  But the number cannot be dialed, connected, whatever.  Was that just a BIG coincidence?  Or what?

The only place my cell and my work number are listed together is on my children's school records, so they can contact me.

Is there an answer on this site or just a list of happenings?  I don't have time to read all the pages, so if you know of useful info please let me know what user name to look for.

Your post was very informative, but I am puzzled by this.  They called my cell.  It went to voice mail telling them my name...  Less than One Minute later, they called my work number - the desk I sit at.  I answered, with the name of the establishment, and ... my name.  Now have they connected me, my cell number, and my place of work and what I do?  How did they put the two numbers together?  Sorry if I'm asking questions you know nothing about, but you seemed to have the most information I've read and perhaps you can answer some of it.  Thanks.

210-290-8487 has been calling my number daily at the same time. No one speaks and the connection is broken after ~10 seconds. Perhaps this is a "robo call" of some kind? Some type of bug? I see this has been going on with other people for quite some time. How can that be? If I keep getting calls, I am going to find out how to block it if i can.

I received this call at 7:04pm CST on Monday, September26th, 2011, on my cell. I did not answer it, as it was a different area code than mine and I did not recognize the number. No message was left and upon searching the number, I came to this site. Seems it's some sort of scam anyway. Will reply again if I get a call from them, but this is the first, and hopefully last, time that I have or will receive a call from these people.

Got a call from this number tonight.  They hung up...I called it back and was told this number could not be completed as dialed.  I pressed the "1" for a long distance call before I tried the first time.  I tried it twice more after that.  It is a SCAM!  The caller ID shows up as TEXAS 210-280-8487

Same here. I received the call and after asking my name and postal code, the lady said I should receive a package in the mail for a free cruise to Nassau.

I above all people should have known better, but I was tired. I answered a call from 210-280-8487. Said it was a short 5 minute survey about home security. Most questions were relatively innocuous and generic. Asked if I knew professional security companies in my area. Listed a few. Asked if I knew of any companies launching new security services. I mentioned Cox Communications, asked questions about features of Cox home security, I only mentioned a few I was aware of. seemed like more a marketing awareness survey. Did give zip code and first name... I am kicking myself at the moment... time to go into hyper protective mode.

Thanks for this; just received a call over the dinner hour from the same number on my cell and, as I didn't recognize the number, I was hardly going to answer it and ruin my dinner, thinking that, if it were a legit. call, then they would leave a VM for a call-back, which they didn't. Just so happens that I am in Canada, and don't know anyone/do any business in Texas. In addition, to my knowledge, Verizon is not a licensed carrier in Canada (though US subscribers who use that service can roam whilst visiting, with those attendant roaming fees of course). I say this as, frankly, I've zero idea as to why a company that doesn't do business up here would be bothering to pitch anything to anyone up here--very odd, as that simply makes no sense to me (not to mention they're not licensed to sell up here, which is and/or could be a problem for them if it is in fact them in turn). This suggests that something else is going on, and glad I didn't bother to pick up the call as who needs cell minutes chewed up by such nonsense. Again, thanks for the info, and cheers to you all.

I got a call on my cell phone but did not answer it.  I looked up the number on Canada411 and was able to find out by this listing that it is a bogus caller.  Thanks for all the people that reported this.

Got a call on my work number; it was a man with a very thick accent who kept saying "Hello" over and over, and then told me that my computer was sending out insecure messages and that he was going to help me.  I told him that I was going to report him to the Better Business Bureau (it was the best I could think of at the moment) and then hung up.  this is a scam for sure.

We probably get this here because 430 is a texas area code and somehow there dialer get dyslexic...

yep, just got a call from this number as well.  tuesday 9:07pm - i thought, who would be calling me so late from a number i dont know.  i ignored it, no voicemail left.  so annoying...

take me off your  F#*&^$   LIST   !  !  !  !   they  call my cell and my home  daily, and I am f%@##&*%  fed up of it.  if this doesn't get them to stop then i am reporting it to the police as harrasment
