- Monica| 1 replyI received a door tag this morning and called the 210 number. It's a recording and jumbled up music when on hold. I live in the Hillcrest subdivision in San Antonio and will definitely be warning my neighbors. I am a stay at home mom and it's scary to know people are trying to break into your house while you are at home. Like the previous person that blogged I also have handguns in my home and I will not hesitate to use them if someone forcibly comes into my house. So scammers be warned.

- TexasI recieved a tag on my door 10/31... Thank you to everyone who posted the information above, but to be honest I'm a little freaked out by it.

- Former Driver replies to Private Name| 11 repliesI wonder where all this "robbing houses" crap came in. I was one of these drivers up until recently and I can asure you we are more scared of you than you are of us, lol. The reson being is that while it is simply our job to hang these hangers on your door, we are aware that the tag is a dishonest baiting tactic to get you to call in and match your name and number to the confirmation number so our company can, one, sell your data, and two, so our boss and other sales people can give you a high-pressure sales pitch for a Guardian Alarm system. There was only one "Security Advisor/Tech" in San Antonio, who happened to be my best friend, and he quit for a litany of reasons including his disdain for how our former boss operates. I quit soon after. Don't have animosity for these drivers, and if you get another driver another day, it's still not their fault because the data just gets recycled to others. We're only supposed to hang any one house no more than 3 times but I have hung many houses five times or more. Remember, the one behind all of this is a highly effective salesman; he sold this job to us. It took a couple months for me to realize that it isn't worth it because he's a shyster who doesn't compensate his people well enough for the work that they do, instead he trys to sell a load of shite about how it's a small company and we need to "buy in" to the concept for it and us to be successful. He is a very dishonest person who blames everyone but himself for things not working smoothly. A lot of us cheated him where we could. There is no conspiracy to break into your homes. I've come up on houses that were completely open and all it made me do was stand there and wonder where the hell I was supposed to hang it because I can't very well step inside to reach your door handle.
- Rob replies to Former Driver| 5 repliesThe reason they think you're going to try to rob the house is because that is whast some criminal rings do. They know on the door and if no one is there, then they come back later and break in,
As you are trespassing, you certainly have absolutely no justification for what you are doing. The fact that is also a lie just makes it worse. So wah, wah, wah...just trying to make living...blah, blah, blah.
I know I personally would NEVER purchase anything from someone who begins any prospective business relationship with illegal and dishonest activity. So put that in your security system and turn it on. - Former Driver replies to Former Driver| 1 replyIf any of you do call the number and the person addresses themselves as Matt (maybe sounds a little slow) then you have reached the orchestrator of this scheme. Matt Willes of Gilbert, AZ. This company is currenly operating in Phoenix, Tuscon, San Antonio, Austin, and he has his eyes on Dallas next, then Houston.
- Former Driver replies to Rob| 4 repliesLegally, it's not trespassing as we are considered delivery drivers, not solicitors. We "attempt deliveries" of "welcome packages" and we do it while most are at work. If you're at home we say we're out of these "welcome packages" We WANT to miss you. Look carefully at the tag, it just says "Sorry We Missed You, please call to reschedule". It makes no other claims. I wasn't "wah wah-ing" about how I didn't like it, cause frankly I didn't care; me earning money is more important to me than your inconvenience. I didn't quit because I took some moral issue, I quit because it wasn't worth the effort I put into it.
- Rob replies to Former Driver| 2 repliesActually, it is trespassing as you are lying about what you are doing, and you admitted you were participating in something you knew was wrong. Tsk, tsk, and then you try to justify it with semantics. I'm not surprised that you "quit because it wasn't worth the effort I put into it". Somehow, participasting in scamming people just never seems to pay off like you though it would.
- Former Driver replies to RobI never directly benefited from a scam, I did leg work. I didn't learn about what was really going on until a couple of weeks in. And how would you know if I was lying had I not told you? You could call the cops and they can't do [***], I know, I went through that with police and security in gated communities. All I had to say was that I was delivering. There is nothing on the slip to sugest solicitation, other than being vague. So, no, LEGALLY I was not tresspassing.
- Former Driver replies to RobAnd I never admitted to doing anything WRONG. It's not wrong to trick you out of a phone number, it's shady and underhanded information gathering. That doesn't make it wrong. And the scam is paying off because the boss has plently of damn money. When he can take is emplyees out boating for $80 an hour or racking up $500+ bar tabs every other weekend with those emplyees, Have a house in AZ, a $1200/mo apartment in Austin, etc etc, the dude is winning at his little game because he works hard at reselling you GE security systems using these tactics. So yea, most of you people do in fact call us. If you dont call, the drivers are the ones who suffer because it kills their stats. He's a very number-oriented guy. At least 60% of all the people I hung ened up calling in, or I would have not been paid, possibly even fired.
- Concerned MomI just got a tag today and filed a police report. FORMER DRIVER, if you are setting a foot on my front yard and touching my door, guess what? YOU ARE TRESPASSING, so stay on the sidewalk, otherwise I have every right to defend my family and property. Th e tag says DELIVERY for so you are LYING, you are posing as a serious company like Fedex or UPS, you say you have a delivery for me but don't have it with you? The sheriff just told me to get your plate and he will get you, glad to know his boss lives one street away from mine.

- SueSue- I recieved this same type of message on my door. When i called them the first thing they tried asking me was if i have an alarm system- one that is set up with the police and fire dept. MY THOUGHTS- i think they are trying to get a feel for who is home/not home and at what times of the day the homeowner isnt home, so that if the homeowner told the rep that they do not have an alarm system when that homeowner isnt home, it would be a perfect chance for them to break into your house- since now they know there is no alarm system.

- FredI received one of these door hangers yesterday in Northwest Territories, San Antonio, TX. I recently moved into the house. My question: Are they canvassing this neighborhood or strictly targeting new residents?
Definitely a SCAM, don't call! Neighbors beware of them showing up on your door. Drivers/delivery BS artists BEWARE; come back to my house and you'll wish you hadn't.

- JimThey left a door hanger on my door this evening. I'm glad I found this page surfing for info. Now that it's a confirmed scam, I'm locked and loaded, just waiting.... They better not try and scam me at my home!

- Sue2| 1 replyJust got tag on my door today, live in Fair Oaks Ranch (between San Antonio and Boerne, TX.) We've lived in this house for about 8 years so they don't appear to only be targeting new residents. About to email my neighbors and home owners association, talk to police. Thanks for all the info.

- Seymore replies to CrysieI just got one myself and was very tempted to call them and say that they got the name wrong, and my name is actually Seymour Butts with some contact number that has #91-1### in it. Lol.
- to former driver replies to Former Driverur a douche
- Anon replies to JJThanks for the explanation, and looking into it with the police. I received a similar Compass "third and final attempt." I won't call the number now that I know. Thanks
- Former Driver replies to Sue2Did you refinance your home? That would put you on our lists as well. Otherwise it is supposed to be just new homeowners
- ross johnsonI received a tag on my door for the second time from an unknown company. The tag simply states, "Sorry we missed you. Please call to reschedule." Then they list two phone numbers, one for Austin and one for San Antonio. Finally they give me a confirmation number for some unknown unspecified reason.

- Austin LadyI got the card today in Austin Texas!! Using the name COMPASS with a compass logo !! Giving 2 phone numbers to call 210 515-5276 and 512 942-6211....
I did the Google search and found this ! Thank you for the heads up !
I did just buy this house in October, so they are either using public records changes to make me call them so they can "sell" me something, (reverse telemarketing) or they are wanting to come and rob me now that the house is not sitting here vacant !! Either way, I'm calling the Austin Police Dept and making a report.
I do not believe the story that they want to give new home owners a "welcome package of coupons"... so they search public records for sales, refinances, inheritances, etc of property.... if this was so, then the people leaving the cards, would leave the coupons ! Why come by the house over and over, using gasoline, to give me coupons! There is something else going on here!- Caller: COMPASS
