    admin assitant
I have actually been to John Thomas Financial as the executive assitant of the CEO of a company I was working at that was being financed by John Thomas. I just looks like a high class call center with people in suits.  I'm sure its a scam though, because now where I currently work, the CEO here has no business with them and constantly gets calls from them demanding his cell phone number and to speak with him! Its ridiculous!

I was just hired at JTF to work in the trainee program. I have no experience working in the industry. I have my degree in Economics and really want to start my career as a Stockbroker, but I'm not sure if I should work there. I've done the research and it seems like half the people say it’s a horrible place and half the people say it’s a great place. What I don't understand is if there such a scam why are they located on Wall St, why is the CEO on Fox News all the time, and why don't they get shut down?
I don't mind cold calling, working long hours and I'm always will to go the extra mile in order to get ahead, but am I making a mistake if I work there? Will it ruin my chances of advancing my career in the long run? Should I just work there until I get my Series 7 and 63? After the trainee period is over can I make real money with JTF?

Can someone please give me honest advice???

I get phone calls from them constantly.  I am registered at www.donotcall.gov.  I filed a complaint against John Thomas Financial today.  I am so sick of him calling and bothering us.  How many times do we have to say we're not interested and take us off his calling list?  BTW - if you think they're legit, Google them.  Major problems, major scams, major trouble!  Very shady firm!

Okay, here's some honest advice; I graduated from college this past May, interviewed and landed the job at JTF for their stockbroker training program. Took me about 1 day to realize the job completely sucked. They throw you in this big room filled with people just like you, and you stand there and call names on index cards, all of which are people who certainly do NOT want to talk to you. REAL stockbrokers don't have to lie to get people on the phone to deliver a pre-written speech filled with rebuttals. On top of the 12 hour days of cold calling, they hire ANYBODY. You can be the dumbest person in the world, and JTF will hire you in a split second. It's a waste of time kid, if you put in the work at college and graduated, you're doing a disservice to yourself to work at that place.

I get calls from this brokerage firm constantly.  Last phone call was in regard to some company that is currently a penny stock - SHHD (Sahara Media). I told the broker, "I would never let my hard earned money touch a worthless piece of paper." He told me that I will regret not getting involved in the investment and that he would constantly outperform any other investment I have ever been involved in previously.

The stock was trading @ $3 -- now has changed company name, symbol and trading at .50¢ (-84%)
He was right I bought a $1 scratch off... LOST (-100%) With that $1, I carelessly invested, I can now buy 2 shares of YBLT (fka SHHD).

JTF, is a room full of new brokers that will say anything to get you to open an account. Most of them do not have a college degree but were able to barely pass the 7. The company pitches a  false dream of luxury to new brokers in order to get them to work 12hr days. None of the brokers put in any personal research on the stocks they are pitching. So, their basically monkeys...

JTF is acting as an investment bank to interoil and pitching the stock to all clients. The only person actually getting rich ia their CEO because he is being paid under the table by these companys.

DO NOT INVEST WITH JTF! If you have enough money to invest then go to a reputable investment company that will consider your investment risk.

I was contacted today by the same type of salesman.  David Martinrosian called me twice, first two days ago to set up an appointment to tell me about a great stock.  Then I received his follow up today.  Same BS that everyone else is mentioning here.  He has been with John Thomas Financial for 5 years.  They are backed by Sturgeon and Leach.  100Million insured. He is at the NY Wall street office and they have over 250 brokers.

He is trying to sell AK Steel stock backed on them filing an 8k form with the fed.  Some sort of transaction between them, AK Steel and US Steel is supposed to exist.  He is looking for me to buy 200 shares at $14 each ($2,800).  He asked for my SSN over the phone and I stopped him cold and asked for a brokerage contract to be sent.  He had someone else send me the contract.  An email actually from John Thomas but not with his name on it.  Also the documents were generic.  Multiple documents tied together but the ones that I am to fill out have no John Thomas information on them?  Interesting?

Just got a call from one of the most rude people I've talked to in a long time, with the thickest NJ accent I've heard in a long time.... sounded like one of the characters out of The Sopranos'.   Let's put it this way, the people in the cast of Jersey Shore sound extremely sophisticated compared to this guy from John Thomas Financial.  I looked them up and there is no end to the blogs about the dealings people have had with this firm.... nothing good.  Basically, it's a sweat shop pushing worthless, or about to be worthless, penny stock IPO's.... their main tactic is to get somebody on the phone who will not stand up to them, and who they can bully into buying a worthless investment.... the tactic is to beat the guy down on the other end of the phone until he pays up.... hey, maybe John Thomas Financial IS the real-life Soprano family!  To those people on this site asking if they should work for this company... you really don't want this gig on your resume if you ever intend to go anywhere with a big, real brokerage firm.  These guys are just the phone version of the Internet's Nigerian investment scams.  Don't give them the time of day.... much less any personal information.  By the way, isn't John Thomas slang for [***]?  Why yes, it is... "John Thomas" is the name the leading man in D.H. Lawrence's novel, Lady Chatterley's Lover gave to his own appendage.  So that explains why the employees of John Thomas Financial are all such dick-heads!

I have had simialr encounters with John Thomas Financail. claims my boss is waiting on his call and then is rude when I ask for more information. That is what my boss hired me for, to keep away the telemarketers.  The guy's name is constantine and susan calls as well, very nasty people.

This is extremely insightful.  I was actually headed to a JTF interview, but now will not subject myself to a firm with such a negative reputation.  I will keep banking on obtaining a postition with a reputable firm. I hope I get that JPM Business Analyst position.  If any has information about an entry level position with a reputable firm please email me at jerrellhorton@yahoo.com

Yes, John Thomas is a good company, however needs to weed out the knuckleheads and outright rude sob's that work with them. This guy 'Chris' feels as though if he argues with you over the tele, you'll send him money.
'Chris' - READ THIS NOW - you are a jerk and you need to find another line of work - Stop Calling People Now.
... and have a happy holiday.

If they were actually professional stock brokers, would they have to resort to such tactics? They must have some success otherwise they would have closed their sweat shop. Just imagine a room full of John Thomas jerks making 500 calls per day. They are amazingly rude when they call. Sadly I am just as rude in return. Yet they still call.

Where is that device James Bond had that played a high pitched sound down the phone and blew up the head of the caller? I'll take the call from the person selling that.

Right! And your saying makes it so. John Thomas Financial is by far the sleaziest and any posting here that say otherwise has to be an inside sleazeball from John Thomas pretending otherwise.

I am soooo anooyed at their offensive tactics. Shames true business people.
