- reply to j star replies to J Star *J star... any firm you work at you will have to make cold calls FYI.
work at morgan stanley, get a salary for a year, working 12 hours a day, not to mention, studying on your OWN TIME (impossible) and in a year pass the series 7/63, THEN make cold calls..
what would you rather do?
UNLESS you want to work at goldman sachs (3.6gpa minimum to get an interviews, not hired), get hazed and then maybe get a client if you're lucky that your boss' like you, if notm you're fired.
i used to think the same thing, that you get clients handed to you, but thats not the case at all.
unless you know 20 milionairs who are willing and trusting to give you their hard earned money, than you will be making cold calls. good luck - haha replies to Seth DavisLOL, maybe he wanted to short the stock?
- listen replies to itsmeeit's not...dont work with JTF
KNOW WHO YOUR STOCK BROKER IS
or give them 1000-10,000 dollars and see what kind of percentage return they can give you.
i have actually visited this firm, very nice, and some real money makers work there.
but, there were some people who i wouldn't give money to.
if you get a phone call from JTF, follow up and talk to the man, see how he speaks, if hes real or what. use your judgement. it doesn't matter what firm you work with, it matters WHO is the stock broker - jimmy please replies to Jimmyseriously, show a link to this "testimony" or a PDF atleast.
yes he does drive a RR, because he's loaded.
you're right, most people need to save up their money for 60 years before they can afford one...not him though, he can afford 20 of them now. - JTF Broker| 4 repliesIt's funny how all the people commenting on this number are ALL secretary's. because you all don't understand how the business world works. No wealthy business owner would say a bad thing about this company because they know how things work on the stock broker world. They get calls from stock brokers ALL THE TIME and they do just about anything legally to get you to become their client.
this is how it works as a broker. you try to get clients, tell them to send you $10K and show them a return. now if they trust you, they give your $100K.
say you turn the 10K into 12K, that could have been a 20K (20%) return on the 100K
you try them out! if you dont like them you simply take your money back.
every broker firm has [***] brokers (which get fired, i ahve seen 4 brokers fired from JTF since i've been their) but then again, broker firms also have very hard working trust worthy people who understand the stock market and make millions a year.
quite being haters!!!! - Tool shed replies to JTF Broker| 3 repliesU are a loser pal!! U filthy thief , u are a " carnival barker" at best!
Stop stealing from old people, the 90s are over
Y'all ain't making [***]!!! - Name not given| 2 repliesI interviewed here and the interviewer told me that the last guy made 30k in a week. I didn't get the job because I blew the interview. I heard from a friend that he made more money in macies than working at JTF. He quit after a week. But they were correct on IOC.
Kaufman has some good picks and makes sense. AK steel has been doing great. With stocks, it is hit ore miss, and not every client can win. - BobbyThe funny thing is that everyone bad mouthing this firm does no business with them and all that say positive things and recommend this firm do.
- hey replies to sickofemi don't know if you really understand the market business..
any company (but very well known ones like GS and MS) that has all good reviews is doing something seriously wrong because that means they are hiring people to write up good reviews and people to delete bad reviews. yes, you can delete bad reviews from any website, it is possible.
actually, even GS and MS have bad reviews.
every firm has [***] brokers, ESPECIALLY goldmansachs and MS.
now i have been called by JTF also and heard about "wayne kaufman"... i did research and the pitch they gave me was actually true, that he was "up 44% going back to pre recession times"...did more research and apparently he was up 22% IN recession times.
now i didn't invest with them, i have a few brokers already (1 new one), and if the new guy doest negative or not enough return this year i am going to JTF.
they are going places too, EVERY stock brokerage firm started out just like them, but the only difference is, they did not move at nearly have the speed (0.5 beta) - jtf broker replies to Tool shed| 2 replieslol...i have 34 trusting clients....................... 1 left me my first year and no one has since. business for almost 9 years now.
- jtf broker replies to Name not given| 1 replyyes, being a stock broker takes HARD WORK and LONNNGGGG HOURS, it is not for everybody.
a lot of people quite within a year...at any firm, i am talking in general in this post..
probably IMO, for every 10 want to be brokers, 1 will make, 1 will have a comfortable life style (not luxurious), 2-3 will quite within a year, and 5-6 will either fail the series 7/63 or quite within 3-4 months.
just an example, obviuosly..all i am trying to say, it a tough market to get into - trustme trustme replies to jtf broker| 1 replyMadoff had more "trusting clients" and kept them longer.
At least Bernie didn't try to run his scam on 800 notes LOL - MS Smith Barney stockbrokerWOW.
that's all I have the say about all these comments I am reading.
not suprised, a lot of other independant brokerage firms could be writing all the bad reviews over the internet, not positive though.
I have a friend who works there, I have also went to the firm myself on Wall st. Very nice and exciting place to be at. Not a boiler room, and the staff is grade A.
If i was ever fired, which would not happen ever, i would go here. I would enjoy being part of an up and coming firm, and let me tell you - they are doing BIG things.- Caller: jtf
- jtf broker replies to trustme trustmeYou really do not understand the business. Get busy picking up your bosses phone calls for the rest of your life.
berney madoffs wife could have spent the money.
our money is with a bank that has been around since 1901, i will not even bother saying the name.
and also, what a terrible comparison, i think you should get an updated version of The Journal. - W.T.| 1 replyit's obviouse that the people posting negative [***] about this company are just secretarys.
cold calling is a part of the stock market world, its WHAT THEY DO. haven't you seen any movies on stock brokers?!
i studied for the series 7 and 63 exam 15 years ago, they even go over cold calls and the rules behind it.. why?? because THATS WHAT YOU DO AS A STOCK BROKER.
the reason i am not a broker anymore is because my friend and i have a t shirt company that has been succesful the past 5 years. so i quite (from wall st)
the reason i am on JTF blog is because i recently gave well voer 100k to a broker from jtf about 3 months ago.
this is what happen.......is lost me 10K the first week, i was pissed but he told me to trust him it will go back up,...it did........we did a bit better than evening out. i got out of the stock and he put me into ANR and gave me a 20% return in a few weeks.....got out of that, did sum more stocks which made me good enough money....got back in ANR at 47-48 recently and to this date is it at 53.07 exactly on this memorial day weekend..he put sell stop (or something like that) on it at 53.- Caller: john thomas financial - wall st
- same guy replies to W.T.to add...
those are just examples, we own more stocks... i have a diverse but high risk portfolio.
i also told him i would pull my money out if he ever puts me into a [***] stock...
if i can, i will update weekly, atleast monthly on the returns i am getting.
i did read "it doesnt matter what firm you work with, it is the broker" .......nothing can be more true than that. - ex jtf broker replies to John Thomas BrokerYea, next Bear Stearns........out of business hahahahahah I worked at JTF for 2 years... all cocky dirtbags and FINRA had a plan for them....................little does JTF know.....they will be out of business by 2012........
- so funny...| 1 replyEvery JTF broker keeps comparing them to Lehman and Stearns.....they r so stupid...they both r out of businesssssssssss hahahahahah
- CARINA| 1 replyYeah I spoke with John Curr from JTF or John Thomas Financial, he asked for my CEO's cell phone & then when I told him no. He called back. I told him to take us off his list...he told me "that's not gonna happen," and then hung up on me. I couldn't believe it. We've also received phone calls from them by Sal Amante. I will be having them blocked by our ISP, as well as processing a formal complaint against them with the BBB.

- imu replies to Mattrequest to be placed on a "do not call list" which by law the broker must place you on.This is a national registry list eliminating all potential solicitors in US. There is no list for your name to be removed from considering that your data is being bought and sold by third party information brokers. Think twice before answering all personal questions even to an unassuming cashier at Target, who will ask, "your zip code". Information is a hot commodity and I would encourage all to be more vigilante and aware of how much of our personal data we happily give away.
