So you are happy to pay $89 to a company that makes fraudulent cold calls, has no legitimate office address and then allow them to remotely access and read every file on your computer????

See my post further on!!! These people are using Trojans to get info from people's PCs. The first time they rang they called me by a friend's name that is in my email address book and the second time by my first name!
They have looked into your computer before they even phone you. They put the problem they pretend to find on your computer there i nthe first place!!!!
DO NOT PAY THEM ANY MONEY!!!! If they were in Europe they would be in jail now!

See my posts. He got your details from a Trojan downloaded to your PC from a trap on the net! He had already looked into your PC. They have the technology to do it and are using it to create problems and spy on people!

    Further info -
It looks like they are using a Trojan Dropper, such as Zlob, to infect PCs with a new variant of the Virtumonde or Vundo trojans, or something worse. This enables them to look at your PC remotely, and to alter files. They remotely disabled my virus killer and wrecked Ad-Aware and Spybot completely.
They rang me and when I refused to accept they were what they said they were abusive.
The day after I had the argument with them on the phone my PC would not start at all and I had to repair Windows! I suspect they sabotaged it remotely!
This is very worrying. Make sure you get the best anti virus/spyware you can!
Is there anything that can be done about this evil scam?

An Oriental (I think) lady. Same stories as above. Except she asked for Mr. Smith. Smith is my mother's name from a second marriage. Mine is Jones. (Mr Smith died 10 years ago). Mine is the name registered with the ISP but the phone line is in mother's name (Smith). So - is it a trojan or merely cold-calling from a phone book? The number she gave me is 0280147593.

So far no-one has said that the caller knew their email address. I reckon that they are pulling phone numbers off a list or a telephone book. Like, everyone has a computer and we all have problems with them...

They're not using any trojans or anything like that.  They called to ask for my (long-dead) grandfather, and asked me to click on the Start button on my computer.  I'm not even running Windows, so no Start button here.  I went along for a little while, but got bored.  Got real work to do.

Don't worry.  They're just pulling names/numbers off a list.  They don't know anything about you.

I had one of these calls within an hour of switching from dial up to broadband with ntl (about 3 months ago).  As soon as I was loggled onto the net I got a warning message telling me I had 'registration' problems.  My computer was all over the place, I was unable to read the scrambled words on the web pages.  I went to the site that claimed it would fix the problem (I think it was 'registrycleanerxp.com).  I couldn't follow the intructions so I gave up.  Then came the phone calls.  I managed to refuse the first, very persistant one, but capitulated on the second because ... of course, I did have problems with my computer.
It took supportonclick 6 hours over 2 days to sort the problem but, very soon, my computer was runing slow. (Originally, they claimed/knew my computer was running slow.  How did they know that?)
Today they phoned again.  I got them to fix the slowness problem ... just took half an hour but I noticed they deleted some uninstall files and disabled a number of Windows functions ... which has left me very concerned.
I don't believe their contacting me was random.  I suspect they got my details via ntl through my switching to broadband somehow.  I believe they caused the original 'registration' problem message.  I also believe that they have now 'fixed' my computer so that I am locked into their support.  Yes, I paid them, after they did the first fix, about £28 for 6 months.  Now that they've 'fixed' a second time they are pressuring me to pay them more money to 'upgrade' to 12 months support!!!!
How am I going to cleanse my computer from their grasp?  The only way I can think of is to wipe it and reinstall windows.  Does anyone out there have an alternative suggestion please?
I have a list of about 7 names that I've spoken with and their Mackworth phone number 01274900834 ... which I've just rung after reading the above messages ... it really IS supportonclick.
When supportonclick read this message I would just like them to know that it is INTEGRITY that wins customers, combined with good service.  Supportonclick ... you are capable of providing good service but you lack integtrity.  All you are doing by puruing this method of getting customers is blackening your name and reputation .... it's not good.  You are upsetting a lot of people and you will eventually pay a high price for what you are doing.

So I got a call today from an indian sounding fellow who told me my computer was running slow, and he had got an automated report telling him this and he could fix it. Naturally I was skeptical but let him keep going until he tried to make me visit that site supportonclick.com, then I hung up on him. Searched for info on it and it led me here. A very, very nasty scam and I can see lots of people falling for it.

This guy called me with the same script.  I figured out what was happening and hung up.  I then logged on and filed a formal complaint with the Colorado State Attorney Office since I'm on the no call list and this was clearly a telemarketer.

I had yet another call from this lot. They said the usual - "Service provider...blah blah..problem...been asked to call..blah blah" I said "is that support on click?" They said "yes". I said "No thanks you are a bunch of crooks" Stupidly left PC on overnight. Next morning my virus killer and spyware killer had been turned off and all my emails had been wiped!
Reinstalled virus and spyware killers and they found loads of nasties.
Luckily I keep a backup of mail, but I lost all mails for October!
I think they are doing both - cold calling from phone books, AND setting Trojan traps via email and the net. I have reported them to my ISP.
It appears some Indian call centres used by UK banks and Building societies are having similar things happen when UK customers upset their staff. Accounts and PINs have been changed by the Indian workers. This may be what is happening with supportonclick, but if it is, it is a very good reason to avoid paying them any money!

Total BS! All the stuff on the net about this company is a front. Everything is on sites where it is free to upload reviews and ads. They are not working for various companies. My ISP said they had never heard of them althoug hthey claimed to be working for them!

Found this site after becoming extremely concerned over 3 phone calls I've received from "Austin", "Alex" and I can't remember the other name, but same man each time, stating he had a report my computer was running slow and he was calling to fix it for me.  The first time he called, coincidentally, I WAS having trouble with my audio driver and had sent my laptop to HP the day before by FedEx.  So, I thought he was from HP telling me what the problem was.  Unfortunately, he said..'Your computer has a malicious virus and I can fix it." I was shocked because my only problem was with sound.  So, the tipoff was when he said.."are you in front of your computer?".  I told him, how could I be if they have it there.  After going back and forth for a minute or so, he became so beligerant and nasty because I wouldn't turn my computer on...I realized it was a scam and hung up on him.  He had my full name, too, which made me think perhaps he somehow got into HP's database of customer computer problems.  I called HP and told them about it, they were 'concerned' and said they'd have their security department call me within 48 hours.  That was a month ago--so far no call back.  Anyway--this man has called me 2 more times, the last one was tonite.  I went along with him and he directed me to go to www.supportonclick.com.  I told him, OK, I'm there-- then he wanted to know what I saw on the screen. Of course, I sure didn't go to the website and I said, well what do you want me to see and what do you want to do.  He then said, I am going to get into your computer remotely and fix it.  ***BIG MISTAKE***  I told him I had to take his phone number and call him back because my husband wanted his dinner.  Bottom line--this company is definitely a SCAM and it sounds like they are malicious to boot since they get extremely nasty if you don't comply.  How can we get them reported to the proper authorities to get them closed down??  How many unsuspecting people would go along with their requests?  Very scary!!!

Great to hear you could call them! We have been unsuccessful in phoning them no number they provided or listed on the webpage works and thay told us they would charge $24 to see what was wrong and guess what we were charged $230 and told we had agreed to a 2yr support service. DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THESE PEOPLE READ THERE TERMS AND CONDITINS ON THE WEBSITE. Which we were not advised of in teh phone conversation. We have notified cunsumer affairs India and are in the process of retreiving the money hopefully.
