told us $24 to register and they would see what was wrong with the computer as they had been notified that our computer had 50+ viruses and needed immediate attention as we would get error messages and PC is slow. We confirmed there would be a one of fee of $24 that was all we would be paying. We soon received an email we were charged $230. Unable to call to ask what was going on I sent email and they called us. Told us we had agreed to $230 support for software we spoked to owner, Kevin Watson, good name for a guy with a strong Indian accent. He said it was all recorded which is great as I want a copy as no time during the conversatin did we agree to paying anything other than $24 no mention of 2yr support at all. Hopefully I will get that recording/transcript and determine if it was tampered with at all.

How can I get rid of these people?  They are telephoning me everyday now and driving me mad.  I have tried telling them I am registered with the Telephone Preference Service, I have shouted at them, I have put the phone down on them, but still they keep ringing.  This morning he started with greeting me by name and then telling me I owe them £55 for computer support! I have reported them to Microsoft and BT. I just want these calls to stop - they are driving me mad!!!! What can I do?  Please someone come up with a solution of getting rid of these calls.

I'm based in the UK and have just had very much the same conversation with a guy with an Indian accent. Called to tell me that he'd received an error report from my computer, told me I was running XP (which is correct - but I guess most people are) and that my computer was running slowly so he'd called to help me sort it out. Told me he was calling from "Support on click".

When I told him I wasn't sure why my computer should be sending his company error reports and that I wasn't having any problems with it he told me that his company was a microsoft partner and they'd received the error report through them (which set alarm bells ringing as these microsoft error reports are meant to handle privacy carefully - hence me ending up here when I did a search for it).

Sounds like some scummy telemarketing, lying to potential customers to get their business. Obviously take no notice of the fact we're on the do not call list either. Would be interesting to know where they got the number from as I don't think the number they called on is in the phone book.

Just googled this phone number and found this posting.
Unfortunately my elderly mother was not so quick to realize the trick.

They convinced her to dowload a program to speed up her computer (for 48$)
When they wanted her credit card number she refused.  He told her then he already had all the information he needed and can do anything he wants.
They apparently remotely hacked her compter with whatever was downloaded, and when she called American Express the next day, there had already been a 1000$ purchase on her card.
Pretty sad what these souless people will do.

Exactly the same experience as Bob. The guy with the Indian-sounding voice told me I had submitted an error report and they had been asked by Microsoft to fix it. They then said to look in the folder Prefectch and asked how many icons were in there. When I told them, they said that was bad and they would use their specialised technology to clear it. At that point I asked for a number and said I would call back. I then called my friend who handles my computer problems and it became obvious that this is a scam. But they are very persistent and very plausible. Then I Googled the number - 01274 900834 and found this site. Thank goodness. Surely Microsoft should be doing something about this as these guys are using their name.

They've landed in Brisbane now.  Aussie number is 2801 47593. Yesterday had a call from an Indian gent named 'Chris' who claimed to be from Microsoft support and said we had reported computer running slowly.  My husband took the call, and assumed I had made the report.  I am very annoyed, as I wasn't thinking straight and was persuaded to sign up to supportonclick.com for 3 years.  Was told that included in the deal was the latest Office package and Malwarebytes.  Turns out that the Office package is Openoffice (not Microsoft) and is free anyway.  Same with the Malwarebytes, which I don't even need, as I have trend micro.  Who can we report these guys to?  Any ideas?

Just got the same thing in Brooklyn NY. They knew my last name and that I was using XP, but that could just be phonebook/guessing. He claimed to be a microsoft technician. I asked for verification of who he was and he just kept repeating the same stuff, and gave me the number 1-212-796-0581 to call. He hung up as I kept pressing. I called from a different phone and they answered as Support On Click, but I called Microsoft and they didn't seem to know what that was.

I've just had a call from an Indian guy called David telling me I had downloaded unwanted files and had filed a report online. I was not aware of having done this and so had asked for further details. He then said to switch on my computer and go to www.supportonclick.com.  I then asked for his phone number and said my husband would ring him back later then I came and did a search on the website name and found this.

I hope it was a cold call and they have not got my details from a virus.

Looks like they are still planting traps and cold calling. I wonder how much this scam is making them? Probably lots!
I shouldn't be surprised to find that they are also behind the fake "WARNING! You Have a Virus! Click Here to Cure It" messages loaded via some Trojans like AntiVirus2009 and are making money from those poor people with a lack of experience and knowledge who have no choice but to click and pay!
Seems that being in India gives them immunity from being prosecuted.
Just try to spread the word to your friends and take care!

Just received a call from an Indian sounding guy saying a similar thing in that I had been having problems with my PC and the Internet and he was ringing up on behalf of the ISP and he was from supportonclick. As I have worked fixing computers and datacomms kit for the past 25 years I explained to him in no uncertain terms that if I did have an issue with my Internet then I would report that to my ISP after confirming first that it wasn;t any of my local datacomms kit and that if I had a problem with my PC I'd fix it myself. I then told him that as I a registered with the telephone preference service what he was doing was illegal cold calling me and he said not to worry as he wouldn't ring again. I must admit that I have been having a few problems with Internet Explorer lately which I am still working on what is wrong with it on some sites but I can't see how these (or indeed this guy) has managed to infiltrate my PC as I never open emails that look mildly suspicious, I have two levels of firewall in place (router and PC) and Noton 360 constantly checking everything that goes on....but who knows as I'm not a programmer maybe he can find a way in.

Anyway regardless of how they are contacting you I would say like nearly everyone else on here......do not sign up with them or give them money!!!

Got the same call as everybody else and at the start i thought he said it would cost $31 to reg. after i agreed he said he would go ahead and fix the so call problem.
After watching the pointer go all over the screen for about a hour they then said problem was fixed. I then decided to register and he said that will be $131. for 3 years. there plan showed $145. annually. he said not right. HE said $131. after 1 year update no extra cost same thing 2year.
When i received receipt it showed $145.taken out of my account.
Can you trust this service. It looks like if you dont go along with them they could wreck your computer.

My dad unfortunalty got sucked into this when he had problems with his computer and paid £99.
We have asked for a refund as when needed help my dad could not get through on their terrible phone lines.  Also when we speak to them the language barrier is terrible we cannot understand them and they cannot us.
This site has now got me worried that they will wreck my dads computer,  does anyone know how to stop them having access.

I have had problems with the same Company and as they telephoned when I had a problem logging into e-mails which I had reported to Orange I foolishly thought that the call was in response to mine. I was told that the repair would be free of charge and when they were partway through the work, I was suddenly charged £250. I had to pay as I feared that having forced entry into my computer disabling the security system they would only cause more problems. I also spoke to an Indian gentelman with the name of Kevin Watson! I have been told by PC World that I was targeted because they found that I had large accounting entries on my computer because I am Treasurer of a local charity.

I have reported Support on Click to West Yorkshire Police and also to the BBC programme Watchdog but have received no replies.

They did strange things to my Browser and wiped my mails, BUT!! to all appearances the antivirus and anti-spyware software was still running as normal, and looked perfectly okay. They had altered it so it wasn't actually doing anything at all!!!!! I had to uninstall and reinstall it!!!! I think you had better check!
This company has the means to remotely access computers and it looks as though certain staff members are using this to work a scam! I shudder to think that the people who own the company are actually encouraging staff to do this!

I have a similar story - A Microsoft technician CID 0011342101 saying he was a Microsoft support technician and I had set a error report saying my computer was running slow and have viruses and the like -  Alarm bells rang so I asked for a return #0280147593 and his Name which is Ricky.  I know I got a virus recently that pops up web site and I installed a few things to get ride of it one being Malwarebytes which is interesting as someone mentioned it - could this be the real source of the problem?  The virus runs a process under the taskmanager called iexplore.exe (Not the webbrowser, but uses the same name) I usually shut it down but today I didn't and got the phone call.  I wonder still how they got my number as I have very few details they could use to get it, I'm wonder if they could call out somehow and use CID to get it then use a reverse phone directtoy to get my name, which they only knew the surname against my phone which is different from me my ISP details and anything else relating to my computer, which is why I suspect CID.

I just got the same call.  His persistence raised red flags.  Not only that, but the symptoms he claimed I was suffering from (slow Internet, pop ups) weren't true.  I saw this site and told him no thanks.

Immediately call your credit card company and request a chargeback.
Tell them you are reporting this to the local police.
Also call the phone provider - is it Telstra?
