- Fred replies to JeffThat is ok for you to say "what a giggle". You probably know a bit about computers, but there are lots of people out there who know nothing about them and only know how to use them. If you told them the internet is housed in a space station orbiting the moon via a radio link to Washington they would not know anything different!
There are people out there who are elderly and who have had computers bought for them to keep in touch, and their knowledge is very limited. Also those who are new to computing. These are the people these [***] prey on! - Fred replies to Notanidiotit looks like they are using other names - systemrecure and logmein123 .com
It appears they are doing cold calling as well as more invasive trojan trapping techniques. I wonder what they put on the computers of those that fall for the scam? Scary!!! - Not Nancy Patel replies to NancyOh of course they are not "fraudstar", but you would say that, considering that supportonclick pays your wages!
- MikeJust to let you know that this scam is still active as I received my first call this morning and it had all the hallmarks indicated in previous posts (Indian, barely intelligible, Windows service centre, error reports, etc). When I asked for email confirmation of who he was and what he intended to do to my machine with full details of why he was providing this service, then the conversation ended fairly quickly. Beware!!

- Fluid Dynamics replies to VC| 1 replyI've started to get repeatedly called by these guys calling themselves the windows service centre. Bad line and Indian accent as others have mentioned. I would never let an unsolicited caller access to my computer, but they are very persistent even though I told them I don't run windows and told them they were running a scam!
- JockeyGot phone call from Windows service centre (indian fella). Informed me I was a legitimate windows users and that they were receiving error messages and there is a fault with my computer. He asked me to press windows flag button and R=Romeo. At this stage I asked for his number and checked windows service centre on google and found this site, thanks.
He called me back (Jack) never heard of a indian named jack before.. and I told him to that dell and presto will rectify problem and try my mate Daniels LOL- Caller: windows servce centre
- Joan WarrenMy call (in u.k. was apparently from number (from 0471) as 091459, which doesn't seem a normal number, and was from an Asian male purporting to be ringing from 'Windows Service Centre' saying I had inadvertently downloaded a windows update that was faulty. If I were to go into my pc he would help me solve the problem, This sounded peculiar and I was trying to ascertain more information, such as when I had done this etc. He rang off mid sentence.
I realise that this is not the number mentioned in the title but cannot find a place to report a u.k call from the number I received the call from- Caller: 'Windows Service Centre' ????
- KatReceived phone call this morning from Windows Service Centre!!! Asian chap said there were errors on my PC and they need to fix them before it cause more problems. I asked him to repeat what he said just to make confirm the company name "Windows Service Centre". No phone number displayed.
I told him to send me a letter as I have know idea who the hell he was!!!!
Warning this is a SCAM- Caller: Window Service Centre
- Bill| 2 repliesI got a call today from an Indian sounding guy I could barely understand which is unusual because I have business dealings with a lot of ethnic people and ususally understand them fairly well.
The phone number he gave me is 0280915001 but the story sounds the same. Anyway, he told me he was from the windows service centre and asked me to go to start>run on three occasions and type something in run and each time it came up with warnings but right from the start I felt a bit funny but thought I was being paranoid.
Two of the things he asked me to type in run were inf and eventvwr and each time they brought up errors and virus warnings. When he asked me to sign up for their program I told him I had no money and no credit cards and my wife controlled the family finances. He asked if he could call back on Monday.
At first I thought he might have been genuine because I have sent a few error messages to Microsoft lately.- Caller: Windows service centre

- Robin replies to BillGot a call from the 'Windows Service Centre' giving his name as Max Roberts and a phone number of 0280915001 (same number as yours). Heavily accented (seemed African)
After a story of my computer causing traffic congestion with other windows computers he asked me to type 'inf' in the run box and then type 'delete inf'. (As If !!)
Then type 'prefetch malware'
After some questions by me he put on his 'supervisor', also heavily accented, and said they could fix my problem and give a warranty for it which would only cost aud$50 a half year or aud$80 for a full year.
At this point I said send me an email with the details and they said the would and I rang off. Shame I didn't give them my email address!
I only persevered with the call until the punchline ( money) and then got bored with them. To anyone reading this don't do any of the procedure above. You really will need help then!

- AnneGot a call from an overseas number. A man calling himself Carlton Slater said he was a technician for the Windows Service Centre in Melbourne. He asked if I was having problems with my computer and I said yes because the day before I had had a crash. He told me he was ringing to help me with my problem. He talked me through showing me errors saying that they were on my motherboard and that they were "malware" and that my virus protection could not help me. He then went on to tell me and to show me via https://secure.logmeinrescue.com/Customer/Code.aspx that my software warranty was out of date. I was then transferred to a Roger Smith and told that he was the systems manager. This Roger then led me to a website http://www.pchelpncare.com/aus.aspx and tried very hard to convince me to purchase an updated warranty package for minimum $111.00. By this time I was on the phone for 51 minutes!!! I had been convinced that my computer was going to fail at any minute but fortunately had the sense not to go any further until I sussed them out. As soon as I did this I realized the scam! They couldn't give me a number to call back and they said not to call the number on the web page. They said that they would ring me back. Just wait till they do, they'll cop an ear bashing I can tell you. BE WARNED!!!

- LucyI've just had one of these calls telling me that my computer is infected. I was wary, but let him (an Indian sounding guy) guide me so far through the process, but then before he gave me that 6 didit number, the phone went dead. I was in the process of looking up windows service centre and saw all the scam reports, when he rang back. I told him what I had found on google and he hung up on me. Just proves he was a scamster!
- Amanda replies to BillI got the same call today (2 Aug 10), my mother-in-law was looking after my sick kids so I could do the shopping, when I got home she told me that I had 4-5 calls, all which hung up on her. Shortly after I got the call from the indian fellow telling me my firewall was not working properly etc, & my computer had sent them a notification of multiple errors etc, we did all the start-run searches & he kept pushing me on to go to the website, (company was www.windowssupportonline.com), when I did he then pushed me to sign up, I told him I had to pick up kids from school could I call him back, he gave me the 02 80915001 and then pushed again to sign me up as it would 'only take a minute' and they could be 'fixing the problems while I was out', I declined and hung up. They called back at 7pm and I put them off as I hadn't had time to goggle them, then at 8pm I recieved 3 calls in succession which I let go to the answer machine & of course they hung up each time. Still waiting for thier next call, makes you wonder how well the 'do not call' register is working if these people can still get our phone numbers!
- Martin LeeDidn't manage to get his number but it was Windows Service Centre and all the waffle in other's postings. Didn't give access and politely got rid of him. UK 1471 reported the call but as "number withheld". He said he's call back despite my telling him we are on the telephone Preference list

- JANICEI received a phone call tonight from a foreign guy saying I needed to fix my computer as it was vunerable to viruses. He said he was from the Windows, (exactly what I can't remember) He started to guide me through what I had to do. I got rather annoyed and asked why he had rang as I wasn't having any problems. As I have both a computer and a laptop I asked which one it was? He then put me on to his supervisor who wasn't much help. I ended the call as I was suspicious.
- cats4ever| 1 replyJust had my second call from these people. The first time,i pretended to follow their instructions and when he asked me questions, I played dumb and told him to finish giving me the instructions and i would do it myself later. Not happy with that,he put me on to his technical advisor, who also tried unsuccessfully to get me to follow his instructions. I had a gut feeling from the start that they weren't interested in helping me as they were too pushy and if they were acting on behalf of windows, you would think they would send me an email!! I am very wary of indian speaking phone people and it's needs to be stopped. I will be contacting my phone provider with a complaint and blocking my calls!!!! Grrrrr

- Beetle replies to cats4everjust had a call from an Indian man too, telling me he was from windows service centre and my computer had virus's When I refused to give his technical dept remote access he hung up. I would warn anyone not to allow remote access unless they know the person or company. If I had not been in my partner may have allowed it, so warn all who use computers in your household to say no too
