- Johnny BNCB Debt collector calls asking for someone named Jesse Kozak, I told them they have the wrong number, then they ask when will Jesse be available. Hello, wake up I just told you no one by that name lives here, then they hang up, low-and-behold they call back three days later.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Won't be scammedThese people called last night and wanted to know my name and social security number! I don't know if they are legitimate or not, but that sounds like criminal activity to me. If you have called my number, then you should know who I am.
- Caller: 215-244-4200
- RyonCall last night from these people. they asked for someone I don't know. They wanted my name and social security # to "verify" my identity.
SCAMming criminals.- Caller: only phone number showed on caller id
- CJCalls 2 or 3 times per day. Have no idea who it is so I don't answer. Annoying that they can't leave a message if they want to call that much. If it's a debt collector, you're calling the wrong number, my bills are current and paid on time everytime! Annoy someone else!
- Ryon againThese cretins have called yet again this morning, asking for someone I do not know (they also called last night).
I will not provide my social security number to verify who I am to these *******. A legitimate caller would not even ask for such information.
I just ordered one of those call blocker machines.- Caller: only phone number provided to caller id by caller
- ConfusedOver the past few days I have received several calls from this number. The person calling is asking for someone I have no knowledge of. I have told them they have the wrong number, yet they continue to call.
I am confused as to why someone would call a wrong number over and over again. The result will always be the same!- Caller: 215-244-4200 (name not provided to caller i.d.)
- S. ParkerCaller asked for a woman I don't know. Caller then wanted my name and social security #. I will not be giving that information to them. Ever.
Phishing/scam- Caller: NCB ???
- Jamison2Scammers or criminals calling from this number. Asking for personal information that I am not comfortable giving out to some random telephone caller. I have no business relationship with these people and do not want one.
- Caller: dont know
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Confused alsoI agree with the comments from above. These people continue to call my number even after being repeatedly told they have the wrong number. What is the point of these calls? If they have the wrong number, two or three calls a day to the wrong number is not going to make the person they ask for suddenly appear!
Are these calls done by a computer for the purpose of harassment? If so, why? There is nothing to be gained by harassing me. Or am I missing something?- Caller: National Credit Bureau
- Call type: Telemarketer
- KatieThis number has phoned several times in the past week. They ask for a woman I do not know.
- Caller: National Credit Bureau
- HubertNumber has called several times asking by name for someone we d not know. Caller wants me to tell them my name and social security number to identify myself.
- Caller: nothing came up on my caller i.d.

- BillThey are calling someone about a debt that I do not know that had my phone number FOUR YEARS ago. I told them and they call repeatedly anyway. I simply let it ring now.
- William| 1 replyThis number called me yesterday afternoon. I called them back and got a voicemail. Mike called me back at 8:43am and I couldn't answer my phone because I am at work. He immediately called many other relative's phone numbers including cell numbers for my relatives. I have no idea how he found those cell numbers, they don't even have the same last name as I do. Very frustrating and harrassing for everyone involved. When I finally got a hold of Mike, I found out this is for a debt that I had paid in full two months ago.
- Caller: NCB
- Call type: Debt collector
- Alfalfa replies to WilliamHow can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ - Josh replies to bob, fred and frankI don't know about other states but in WI if you can record the calls, just for proof, after telling them that they have wrong number if they call back again you are able to sue them for $500 plus court fees for some type of harassment. Bet they don't call again after that.
- maureenThis company keeps calling me about a person named maureen Caine but I refuse to return their calls because they are not asking for me
- Caller: ncb collection services

- NotGoingToAnswerThey just called me. I was so lucky that when I got a new phone that I didn't set up the voicemail. Now, if I don't recognize a phone number, I don't answer the phone. It goes straight to... Oh, that's right, I don't have my voicemail set up so it goes nowhere. Best thing I ever did was NOT set up the voice mail when my ex gave them my current phone number.
